Kawhi Health Tracker

Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General Discussions

Although I am saying it a bunch (and truly believe) that we can win without Kawhi, I am no fool... we need him if we want to give ourselves a chance at success in the Finals.

So while I do think we are fine to ease him very slowly into the season, I am also peeking at news to see when we can see him back.

Feel free to track and speculate with me!

thankyou for the update!!

well Kawhi or no Kawhi tonight???

Ty Lue said he’s closed! Should be encouraging since the clippers organization usually keep their mouth shut about the situation

i see he is with the team in texas

I see a bright future for Kawhi...as a suit spokesman and a line of comfy chairs to sit on.

Timeline of Kawhi this season so far:

Oct. 3, 2022: Leonard returns to the floor for a preseason game between the Clippers and Trail Blazers, scoring 11 points in 16 minutes.

Oct. 20, 2022: On the Clippers' opening night, Leonard makes his highly anticipated return against the Lakers. Leonard comes off the bench due to a minute restriction. He scores 14 points in 21 minutes.

Oct. 23, 2022: After missing the front end of a back-to-back due to knee injury management, Leonard returns to again see 21 minutes of action, this time in a loss to the Suns.

Oct. 25, 2022: With the Thunder set for two games in Oklahoma City against the Thunder, Leonard again appears on the injury report due to injury management. Lue tells reporters that Leonard is experiencing knee stiffness and that the team would send him back to Los Angeles for treatment.

Oct. 30, 2022: Lue calls the knee stiffness a game-to-game issue, ultimately rendering Leonard's status as day-to-day until further notice.

Nov. 14, 2022: It is confirmed that Leonard is back going through five-on-five work but Lue said that while Leonard is getting closer, he still has more progress to make in order to return.

The medical profession is soon going to use new terminology: two weeks = two weeks, but two weeks "Kawhi time" = two months. Soon will mean one year. Progressing means we don't have a clue when you'll be healthy.

!!! +++ *** Clippers upgraded Kawhi Leonard to questionable vs. Detroit tonight. *** +++ !!!

Earlier I read:

Medical expert Dr. Michael S. George of the KSF Orthopaedic Center in Houston was asked-

How concerning is Kawhi Leonard's knee stiffness and what could be the cause?

Dr. Michael S. George-

"Knee stiffness after returning to activity is not alarming in and of itself, however, it is concerning that he is having trouble returning 16 months after surgery.

There are a variety of issues that can prolong recovery, some of which are concerning and some which are not. In general, problems within the knee joint that can cause continued issues include cartilage injury, meniscus injury and scar tissue that can cause swelling and limitation of motion. Problems outside of the knee joint include muscle tightness and nerve irritation."

PG and Kawhi in 3 years only played 84 games together

This doesn't even sink in as may times as I read and reread and reread it. (... and reread).

"If I still get paid, why go to work?"

Did I see that out of context? If he said it, trade him. Let him load manage somewhere else.

I can't imagine anything close to that was truly said, buuuuuuuut if there was a way to deal Kawhi and somehow get SGA back, I would do that in a heartbeat. I wonder what Kawhis worth would be right now, I can't imagine it's that high anymore.

I don't know where you saw that quote. I highly doubt he said it in any context... this is news to me and I can't find anything other than a tweet made by a random person on the internet - not KL2.

(reminds me of Joe's signature line)

I’d love Kawhi if he’s was pulling his weight but what a colossal waste of money. He needs to lace up his sneakers and get to work. It’s not going to be easy but he has to get the games in and eventually, hopefully things will improve. I try not to but find myself wondering if he will ever be the same. I look at Klay and pray that he’s not like him but we need to see some effort.

I am with you. I really don't care.

(I do internally, but can't let it bug me)

And it is easy to not let it bug me because... we are LOADED. The depth this team has is incredible and I know we are better with Kawhi, but even without him I believe we can beat ANY team on ANY given night over the course of a season. In a seven game series, the probability is less and I don't like my chances. But from now until February/ March I am not going to freak out.

I'm going to not care as much about his availability, as I am loving watching Mann with increased role (as well as the rest of the cast).

GOOOSFRABA baby! Love you all Clipper Nation!

I think the day I see Kawhi in a Clippers game again I will be shocked. My reaction will be something like, "Oh, that's right we have Kawhi." TBH, I'm more excited about Diabate and Boston developing. The FO botched it with Kawhi and PG, but at least they have been wise to continue to draft or buy picks.

“It’s very exhausting. We’ve been playing so many games,” Zubac said (h/t NBA Retweet). “… It’s hard when you’ve got less bodies. It’s hard but guys have injuries everywhere. Some teams just get more unlucky… We’ve gotta hold up until they come back.”

Zu being honest and not sugar coating much! (It's a ClutchPoints article, but it's a decent quote.)

Tough watching Kawhi! He can barely get lift when he shoots! His shot which is mostly mid range used to be a thing of beauty but it’s so awkward now
