Clippers Topbuzz Site Rules and Guidelines [Updated]

Clippers Forum » Clippers Topbuzz Announcements
Hey guys- seeing that the site as grown by a lot the past few months, I've decided to implement some rules and guidelines to make the forum a better place for all Clipper fans. Most of these are pretty much no-brainers, but some might not be as obvious. So PLEASE read through the entire list and feel free to let me know if you have any questions. General Guidelines: 1) This is a discussion forum and not everyone is going to agree. But do not resort to insulting other fellow members or launch any sort of personal attack. 2) Use good grammar/spelling and don't use ALL-CAPS (it makes it "sound" like you're yelling). 3) Prevent duplicate topics. Before you post a new topic, be sure that the same topic hasn't already been posted. Use the "Search" function in the forum if needed. When there are too many different topics that are essentially the same topic it makes the forum look un-tidy. There are exceptions though and it's okay to post a similar topic if it involves some sort of late-breaking news/rumors. However once that's posted it's not okay to post ANOTHER topic regarding the SAME news/event. 4) Post in the proper Forum. E.g. please do not post a topic called "I Hate Elton Brand" in the Clippers Rumors forum. 5) Use a descriptive topic name when creating new topics. Don't create topics with names such as "What do you think", "You must read this" or "Check this out". 6) Feel free to give a positive reputation vote to another member whom you think have made a great post. You can do so by clicking on the little +/- icon which is located above the user's online status. Please do not ask for votes, however. Also please don't give negative votes to another member unless....

I USE ALL CAPS BC IM AN ENGINEER. I APOLOGIZE NOW FOR IT.

Well in David, again. Thanks.

can you post the person's SN, when you ban them from the site, so that the rest of us can laugh (silently)...?

I think it was totally necessary to remind these "rules"...

Many times I get lost with the thousands of topics that many people open without looking if there's already one topic talking about the same. IMO there are some unnecessary topics but it's just my opinion.

Lets all calm down, I took off the caps lock! I am an engineer and thats how we use them on work. I'll stop "yelling" at everyone haha

Yeah, I like this post a lot, David. You've worded it very well and I think everyone here respects your professionalism and fairness. Thanks again! GO CLIPPERS!!! (that's gotta go in all-caps, hehe)

Way to tighten up the ship David!

Repped (+1)

ima a rebel, an outlaw, i am above the law, i break rules for fun Wink IM JUST THIS BAD!

Thanks David. Good to know. Hopefully everyone that is here can follow the rules. Those that come on here just to talk s**t won't be tolerated. Peace!

i second that!

Please remember the language post please. My nephew is 5 and we read some of these post together. I can understand maybe some heat of the moment writing but sometimes people are just not using the proper language when there just responding to a topic.

Golly gee whiz I think you're doggone right! Smile

Thank you for understanding. lol

good stuff dave Shocked

dave, i think that it would be better if you also crack down on post whoring. like making useless posts just to get your post count up because i noticed that alot of good threads have been going off-topic because of people posting random off-topic things.

Responding to other peoples post's is not a crime, its part of having a forum. We appreciate the concern though.

Calm down scudsy boy and celebrate when we win the championship this year Wink

Yeah I've noticed that too. Post counts don't really count for anything though- in fact I've removed the top posters in last X days block on the right side of the main page.

I will be looking into implementing some sort of post count cap per day for members who don't have a certain # of net positive votes.

thanks dave. much respect. i think that it will help filter this forum and help make information easier to locate instead of having to read through a bunch of irrelevent posts.

i respect how you always improve the clippers.topbuzz forums.

Thanks for the props guys- I'm always open to improving to the experience here fellow Clipper fans. BTW I've just increased the post limit from 10 to 20 for those with +2 net positive votes or fewer. I think 10 was tad too few.

Dave you have the best sig. As of now RL

Just a reminder to all CTB members:

If you notice someone blatantly breaking rules, you can notify the mods by clicking on the [Alert Moderators] button on the right-hand side, above the quote button. Otherwise, you can choose to ignore a poster by clicking the "ignore" button, below the votes.

Please don't engage or flame back when someone breaks the rules.

Okay... I was multi-tasking on my computer and my screen changed in mid click... I accidentally clicked "Ignore" on someone... How do I take him off ignore?

Edit...

nevermind... Got it... Although the user was Clipper Joe so if we have any new Baron discussions I might need to activate it again. wink

To log out, click that + sign on the upper left to show the menu, then click "Register/Log in", then click "Log-out" on the right.

Hi everyone- just a heads up that I have just added a new rule to the site:

13)[NEW] Extreme trolling by a Clipper fan is no longer allowed. "Extreme" is quantified as such: over 80% of your posts within the last 14 days, even if you are a Clipper fan, denigrate the team and or player(s). Despite being a Clipper fan, if the majority of all you do on the site is criticize using hyperbole without statistics to backup claims, and rarely offer posts that support the team, then you are in violation of this rule.

This takes into effect today. Also a reminder that the Ignore button works great if you do not want to read posts by any particular individual. Thanks guys!

Nice one David.

Tread carefully JQuick or your days are numbered. 80% for you is a bit like asking DJ to shoot that percentage from the stripe.

Nice David, but, you didn't put in anything about bad-mouthing the owner of the board! Very Happy

Great rules. Should keep it clean.

Didn't expect a blowout because the Clippers usually fizzle in the 4th quarter, but I didn't expect the game to be that close. There's definitely something going on with the team. One of the radio announcers said the reason Josh wasn't in the lineup was because of illness or injury. Well Austin didn't play tonight and the team still sucked. So that places the blame on the coach. Disheartening.

Thanks for the rules and instructions because I'm still learning this board as I write. Enjoy posting my comments and reading others. My concerns are for the Clippers to make a turn around and lead us to the finals.
