I think he's gone whether he opts in or out. This move might make DJ opt out.

I always thought Washington was the perfect fit for Austin. Gortat is a solid big but his presence means DJ is gone and we are in for a full rebuild. i really wish we found away to get Oubre in the deal..

Austin gone now very happy to be a Clipper fan!

Holy balls!!!

Man I almost get a heart attack, is this true? Jerry is cleaning the house.

Who are we trading DJ for? What would Dallas give up?

Didn’t know there’s wrestling fans here

Wes Mathews

I’m not sure I want Gortat but whatever was needed I guess. Does this move really help much other than breaking up Doc and Jr.?

Might not win us more games BUT it forces Doc to play and develop the rookies

This makes keeping Doc as coach easier to take. But I'm still gonna be skeptical about him playing our rookies. I hope Doc changes his ways or the FO may give him the boot now.

This is the best day in clipper land. Lol

Good time passer usually. Lol

I never understood the hate for Austin here but it is best that he is gone, he can prove everybody else wrong by playing with another team. Can't do it here in clipperland while 50% of its own fans root against its own players, management, FO, and/or coach. Gortat is not too bad of a player though, West slowly making G moves.

This might be the happiest day of my life.

I still can't believe it. That is all...

Amazing!!! Can't wait to see these rookie guards and 2nd year players develop! Wish Austin the best of luck cause he played his heart out at times, but he’s not a starter... maybe he excels off the bench for wiz! Love this!

My dislike for Austin wasn’t because of his game or cockiness. It was the fact he was put in the same team his father coached which implied favoritism. Key word implied lol. Even though I felt he deserved to be on the floor and was the one of the only Clippers to play with heart. Regardless this trade was needed to move forward. Let the rebuild begin! Thank you Austin and good bye lol

Money is about the same and he'll be off the books next year. Right now there was like 11 guards on the team so in a sense yes, it helps clear out some logjam in the back court and opens 32 minutes or what ever he was getting up to the new guys. With Milos on the way out, Bradley likely gone and Beverly around as a good mentor to help push attitude and toughness, there could actually be some decent minutes for these guys to develop.

I wonder if LAC still plans on waiving or keeping Milos Teodosic.

At 6 million dollars, Milos is a steal! Resign Avery and with Beverly, you have 3 guards you can trade for pics in feb. They help the yougin's develop and then we trade them..

Remember, we want to develop the young guys (yougin's) Smile....while still making the playoffs!!!!

The young guys need playoff experience.

This is literally the best day of my clippers fandom and I have been a fan for 21 years! This finally paved a path to freedom and playing time for the rookies and no nepotism distractions!!

This goes to show how bad the father-son dynamic was. Look at the overwhelming positive response.

NBA writer told me via email that Teodosic is still getting the boot.

We don't want to make the playoffs so that we get our draft pick next year. In fact, we want to get them as much time as possible regular season while still not winning many games so our pick is higher, so literally throw away all those guys you just mentioned for nothing if you have to. They'll get plenty of playoff experience down the line.

Thank goodness. Whether or not he was Doc's son, I never liked the guy. He got minutes that he truly never deserved and divided the locker room, as well as the fan base. Yes he had his moments, but the fact is his act got old and he had to go. To trade him for a guy like Gortat is good deal for the Clips. Yeah he's not a super star but he's a solid player. I look forward to his contributions going forward.

Great day in clippers history. Gortat will be 34 and is trash. Probably get 17 mpg. Wouldn’t mind giving a euro center some burn.

Well said! I didn’t like his game for basketball reasons not because he was Doc’s son. Then you add in him being doc’s son, it was just a joke.

I need to change my signature to a memento of this glorious day

Resign Avery? Why? Why do we want 4 veteran guards on the team and then somehow expect minutes for the rookies? Where would those minutes come from?

If you resign Avery the team has: Lou Williams, Teodosic, Beverley, Bradley, Shai, Robinson, Thornwell, CJ Williams, Evans

Also why give Bradley a long term contract as he will likely want more than a one year unless it is one of those big one year contracts.

We can cut Williams, send Evans to the G league and sign Bradley. I like Bradley and would rather have him as a vet than anyone not named Lou. I’m okay with cutting Milos as well.

Jered you are confused... Look at the Lakers....out of the playoffs...what do they have...nothing!

The playoffs is when the stars shine! That Is when we separate the men from the boys. We will know

if these guys are men or boys...WE keep the men on the team and trade the boys..

Look at all the tanking teams....what do they have? nothing?

philly is young and good, but they got crushed by the King..They also had how many number 1 pics????? 3 or 4?

They have been tanking for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re tripping bro. Last thing we need during this rebuild is to make the playoffs.

We need a chance at a top 3 pick

What about Harrison Barnes? I think he would fit better.

I read somewhere that Avery can be resigned and his $$ will not count against the cap..or something like that..

Milos could be cut for 2 million or so, but I think it might be good to have some competition for the young guards.

At least until Feb. We can make the playoffs and get some draft pics without tanking..Jerry is on it..

DON'T WORRY!

Happy days are coming to Clipper Nation!

Nice! Second best day in Clippers history. Only the Sterling ouster was a more significant day. I'm glad I stocked up on booze. After my last class, I am cracking those bottles open and celebrating. My condolences to Keatonsays, who was a great fan of Austin's.
