Austin Rivers Opting In...

Trade his ass!!!

what a p***y! Hey Austin, you brag about being better than most but when are you going to get off the teet? Freaking poser who don't have the balls to pave his own road. This is bullshit!

Daddy said If I stay I can start.

- Austin Rivers

He knows if he opt out he can’t get what he wants from the other team if somebody will sign him, here daddy is ready to back him up. He will get all the lollipops he wants. I hope Ballmer will not re-sign him.

Please trade him.

Not so brave is he? Now are the Clippers brave enough to trade his ass? If he gets an extension, its nepotism confirmed.

Oh boy both Rivers are returning!

Strange timing hopefully he can be dealt during the draft for something.

Time for a trade

duh no brainer , no one would pay him on the open market !!! smells like a trade is coming tonite

Weird timing, could be trade related

Trade Lil' Austie for a bag of rocks. On second thought, we don't need the rocks.

I seem to remember Pops liking him, maybe he's Spurs bound as part of a Kawhi deal.

I think he's going to stay😭

Ok so now that Austin opted in and we drafted a PG what's the guard line up going to be. We have Austin, Beverly, Thornwell, Evans , CJ, and Shai and Robinson. SMH. Jerry what's going on ?

After picking up Robinson, Austin has to be gone!

Don't forget Lou and even Wallace and Bradley still possibilities. Which ones go to SA?🙏

we have some fat contracts that we can trade to get players who fit our need....

Daniello, little Rivers...

We have some good talent...Beverly, Avery, Harell, Harris.

We could trade some guys and get the king or Leonard, or another star.

Or we can stay put and be a work in progress.

I am so happy with Jerry West and all he has done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep up the good work Jerry!!!!!!!!!

Compared to the current $101M cap, Austin's contract is the equivalent of a $6M contract back in like 2014, don't think I would call that a fat contract.

This was a no brainer for him though, would have been dumb to explore the market where the MLE is like $9M and there aren't a ton of teams with cap space they want to spend on players like him.

Dad has been extended, so to me it means that son needs to go. I've always maintained that you choose one, and they made the choice. Market shouldn't be bad for him. Can shoot (just 3PT, not FT) can be a secondary ball handler, is actually kinda clutch and has length for a combo.

Trades! Lol

There were already a glut of guards last season which was relieved by injuries, but there are even more now, West loves guards.

I'm afraid all of these machinations means that Jerry West will try to put together a package of Tobias Harris, Patrick Beverley, and Lou Williams for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.

This is on the same level as ,or perhaps giving up more than, what Houston gave up for Chris Paul.

Clippers end up with:

sg: Austin Rivers, Jerome Robinson, Danny Green

pg: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrone Wallace, Jawun Evans

Or, knowing Doc:

sg: Danny Green, Jerome Robinson, Tyrone Wallace

pg: Austin Rivers, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jawun Evans

Still, if you look at what should happen:

pf) Danilo Gallinari

sf) Kawhi Leonard

c) DeAndre Jordan

sg) Jerome Robinson

pg) Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

That's probably good for third place behind Golden State and Phoenix and just ahead of the Lakers.

As far as I know Clippers did not sign Ty Wallace.

Maybe we're missing the point. AR in a couple of years has gone from the worst guard in the league to an acceptable bench player. An F to a C- which is DAMNED GOOD. I expect him to be a C maybe even a B-. With his expiring contract he'll be an easy trade.

Can I still give him an F?

As in, get the F*** off this team!!!

Lol, oh yeah!!!

He's an RFA.

As much as I can't stand Austin. He's likely staying. Lou Williams most likely getting the boot. I hope not tho. I want Rivers gone.

Young and coming off a solid season on expiring contract, he should make for a very very tradable asset. Now that Doc has no say in Player Personnel, no way he sticks around.

Why does everybody want to trade Lou? Without him we'll suck canal water next year. Who can spread the floor? He can play point. When we suck who's going to bail us out? This is the cheapest all star you'll get although he did have a career year and next year may not be so good. Austin is our next best bail out guy except Trezz who is not a clutch 3 point shooter like Lou or AR. How about Tobias? Is he our bail out guy? Lou scored 22 PPG. Yeah I know Paul does A LOT more stuff apples and oranges but he's never scored 22. Yeah Lou's just a more reliable Jamal but both were our parachutes.

Ponder weak and weary on that. My answer? Should we trade Lou? NEVERMORE.

Didn't this guy take a pay cut to stay here and have a home for his family? Was there a wink, nod? Who knows.

Lou is a very important piece in our bench compared to Austin, he can teach our rookies can score and CHEAP. I hope Jerry and our FO will not use the name Doc Rivers as an excuse for trading Lou instead of Austin. Remember Lou give us 50 point vs Warriors last January? Without him we are still zero vs Warriors for another year.

Any chances of a sign and trade for Avery Bradley for any team? As far as Austin maybe fan move him to Orlando for one of the bigs.

I do not think we are moving Lou. I think the whole point of his contract was to secure a stable, veteran presence for the young players on the team.

Possible, but I can't imagine getting much back, maybe a trade exception or a protected 2nd round pick or something, but better than nothing.

Are the Clippers eligible to stretch a contract? I know they stretched Gomes years ago. Do they still have the CP3 trade exception?

holy s#it. I almost forgot about gomes. Weren't we still paying for him up to about two years ago lol.

I don't think he'll garner much on the free agency market, too many injuries. I could see him doing a 2-year deal with us, player option on the 2nd year.

We used the amnesty clause to get rid of Gomes contract. We got his contract off the books in 2012.

Austin sucks man, he kills the team vibe. If he was near the alpha or good player you say, he would have opted out and signed a contract for $12-15mm per year for 3 years, but even he knows he ain’t worth it!

Reggie Miller says LBJ is more so a Clipper....

Well....

DJ resigns for 3 years around 16 mil.

Pual George signs 1+1 around 20 mil.

LBJ signs 1+1 for 22 mil and agrees S&T with Clippers for A. RIvers, Bobi, Bradley (or whatever Cleveland wants really)

Nerlans signs for mid level at 7 mil.

Trez resigns for mid level 7 mil.

And we look like this:

C. DJ

PF. Tobi

SF. LBJ

SG. PG13

PG. Bev

Bench:

C. Noel

PF. Harrell

SF. Gallo

SG. Lou

PG. Shai

The rest:

SG. Robinson

SG. Thornwell

SF. CJ

SF. Dekker

PG. Evans

Right at the max tax cap under 135 mil or so...

Obviously my numbers are not accurate but its close. This is the start of the future for the Clippers, will lose next years first but who cares and will have all future first after moving forward. LBJ and PG do this (take less) for one year and then resign next year for more when the Clippers can blow past the maximum tax (also would be resigning Tobi).

What do you guys think? All based on Reggies comments...

Don't think the Clippers would have any interest. Currently there are 8 guards on the team, and with Bradley and Wallace, that's 10 guards.

It would be insane. A part of me wants no Lebron and bring some other free agent instead of being his mercenary style super team stomping grounds. But a finals or even western conference finals would be nice

Austin is an alpha, that means aggressive with a strong personality not good but a team especially a young one needs an aggressive leader.. It is said that he's a gym rat. Extrapolate his improvement. It's amazing. He's gone from a guy who couldn't play in China to a legit NBA player. Next year he should be above average based on that. THEN he will have value not now.

This is the stupidest thing I've heard since I left my ex but then also they said that trying to build an airplane and fly was stupid. Before the new CBA this might have happened. Everybody forgets that the great LAL teams were great because they didn't give a s*it about cap.

It’s dry this summer for role players. That’s why Lou took the deal of 3 years for 24.

Lou could have done much better. He did it because he loves LA and he’s not greedy. He was a 22 pt a game scorer, was super clutch while leading the league in 4th quarter scoring and was one of the best guards in the West last year. He’s more than a role player and was our best player last year. He could have done better and would have if he was the normal “get every cent you can” NBA player. Kudos to Lou.

We have 11 guards.

Austin has to go now, not later. There isn't room for him anymore.

Yea well I think SGA is a bigger Alpha and has way more upside then Junior and 1/4 his price. What do you think will happen. Bye Falica

Hope we keep Ty Wallace.
