Doc Rivers Issues Formal Statement

Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General Discussions
Doc Rivers issued a formal statement in response to recorded comments made by Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling. "I would like to reiterate how disappointed I am in the comments attributed to [Donald Sterling] and I can't even begin to tell you how upset I am and our players are," wrote Rivers. "Today, I had a meeting with the members of our organization. When you are around all these people, you realize they are just as upset and embarrassed by the situation and it does not reflect who they really are. That was what I got from all of them.....

Clipper*joe, I just want to say that your new avatar rocks!

Doc is the best person to be the spokesperson for the Clippers. Glad he's at the helm.

I Got THIS IN AN EMAIL: "I would like to reiterate how disappointed I am in the comments attributed to [Donald Sterling] and I can't even begin to tell you how upset I am and our players are. Today, I had a meeting with the members of our organization. When you are around all these people, you realize they are just as upset and embarrassed by the situation and it does not reflect who they really are. That was what I got from all of them. They are now a part of this and they are upset at this. But, they are all going to hang in there and so are we - I can tell you that as a group and as a team. From our fans' standpoint, I want to say that they have been amazing, I can tell you that. We need unbelievable support right now from other people and I'm hoping we get that. My hope is that whatever the fans do, it is as one. I think that is what we all should do. "We want to make the right decisions here. We're doing our very best to try and do that. We know that fans are in a dilemma as well. We want them to cheer for their players and their team. It will always be their players and their team. From the fans that I have heard from, that's how they feel. 'This is my team. These are my players that I'm cheering for and that's not going to change.' I hope STAPLES Center is packed and people are cheering for the players. The players are now in the middle of this, and they have to deal with it. "We are all trying to figure out everything as it goes and just do our best and....

Here is what I would say to the guys if I could:

Men, you have to think about this for a minute. We all know this man is a scumbag, we all know his time is near end end. There is not on fan, one player, one coach, one owner, one commissioner, one tv station, one sponsor, not anyone that helps pay for your job , not even the President of the United States, wants this man around and because of that it is a matter time before he will be gone. It may be a week, a month , but it will be before next year starts. He is gone, period.

With that in mind, you need to focus on the task at hand, The task you have trained for since you were a child. The task you wanted to accomplish your entire life. The task you have trained for and dreamed about. Don't let one old scumbag man take that from you. The fans, the players, the coaches, 29 owners,a commissioner and rest have your backs and will help you succeed. Come out and show the fans, the players, the coaches and the rest who you are and what you represent and what amazing things you can do.

We all have your backs because we are Clipper Nation.

Toohip 3:16 "If you lose, their racism wins. If you want to be champions play like champions and champions have wills of iron. If this makes us lose focus we deserve to lose. We will not mention it again."

I wish Ralph would say something. Nobody knows the Clippers like him

I'm sure this is tearing Ralph apart. I wonder how he actually feels about Sterling. He's known him for years and it's hard to imagine he would have put up working for him if he really detested him. Hopefully he says something tomorrow. Although Ralph has tended to tow the company line so maybe not.

this whole thing is such a disaster. And I hate to admit but it actually hurts my heart.
