Tyronn Lue: LA Clippers' on-court chemistry issues due to a lack of continuity https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30163596/la-clippers-court-chemistry-issues-due-lack-continuity "I think when you talk about chemistry and continuity, it is not off the court, the guys not liking each other," Lue said in his virtual introductory news conference with reporters Wednesday. "When you talk about chemistry, it is more so [Paul George] came in and he had shoulder surgery, so he was out, he missed the whole training camp and was out the first 11 games of the season. It sounds very similar to the rhetoric that Doc has been trying to sell us all season long. We'll see if he holds people more accountable.

It does sound very similar, here is hoping that he has us fooled and he is a great coach.

If Tyronn Lue brings in Chauncey Billups and Larry Drew, I'm happy.

Now, I'm hearing that he may bring in Kenny Atkinson and Dan Craig.

If he does, he'd have quite a staff, but I don't see Dan Craig coming over in a lateral move.

Love the coaching hires more now. This seems like a great balance of minds

Everyone seems to be really high on Dan Craig. At least this gives me a little bit of optimism.

Kenny Atkinson seems to also be in high regard

As much as he may be a good basketball assistant, and the same goes for Dan Craig, our success will ultimately come down to how good Tyronn Lue will be in charge of this squad. Doc also had some very good assistants too, but somehow we still ended up where we did. I hope Lue at least will consider the analytics, unlike Doc did. There were reports that said he was well aware of how atrocious Montrezl Harrell was on defense but opted to give him the minutes that he did anyway.

Doc massaged egos and wanted to keep everyone happy.

As long as he had a story to tell, he could always laugh off the latest Clipper loss.

Except for this one, giving him match 3-1 squats.

Dan Craig is an analytics guy, so that's good news.

Think Tyronn Lue will listen in a way that Doc Rivers never did.

Doc thought that he was the whole show.

Tyronne Lue's surrounding himself with some good guys.

I watch ESPN and many independent NBA analysts on YouTube. What they all have in common is this reverence to Doc Rivers. They all seem to believe that the Clippers screwed up by letting Doc go. Did I miss something where a coach who has let multiple 3-1 lead go and never made it past the second round (with the Clippers) is the criteria for being elite?

"When you talk about chemistry, it is more so [Paul George] came in and he had shoulder surgery, so he was out, he missed the whole training camp and was out the first 11 games of the season. I think what bothers me about this outlook from Tyronn Lue is that is parrots Doc Rivers' propensity to not see or acknowledge the true short comings of the team. This team had many problems in the playoffs, but to attribute the second round meltdown to lack of playtime together seems like a failure to acknowledge what went down. This isn't exactly what I want to hear from the coach because it essentially is saying: we don't need to change anything. The only thing the team did wrong was not have enough time together.

Clippers are betting that a coaching staff of Tyronn Lue, Kenny Atkinson, Dan Craig, Larry Drew and Chauncey Billups can do a better job than Doc Rivers, Tyronn Lue, Sam Cassell and Rex Kalamian.

Fact that Doc's out of the equation is a huge bonus. Despite the loss of Sam Cassell, I like the additions of Atkinson, Craig, Drew and Billups.

Of course, our most pressing need is at point guard, where we made the colossal blunder of trading away Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Not sure if Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose or Kris Dunn cuts the mustard.
