2025 2nd Round Mock Draft

31. Minnesota/Labaron Philon/PG Conley is getting old and Dillingham is unproven. Wolves could use a 3rd stringer here 32. Boston/Kam Jones/1/2G Over the 2nd apron, the Celtics will need to fill holes through the draft and versatile players that can play multiple spots come in handy in that situation 33. Charlotte/Tahaad Pettiford/PG Ball is hurt a lot. Pettiford could see minutes 34. Charlotte/Hugo Gonzales/2G/SF Bad teams also need to just take the best available. That could be Hugo at this point 35. Philadelphia/Ryan Kalkbrenner/C Not sure about Drummond's future. If he leaves, oft injured Embiid has no backup 36. Brooklyn/Maxine Raynaud/C I really wanted to give the Nets a big man with their picks in the back end of the 1st round but couldn't due to perimeter talent still on the board so this guy gets the call here 37. Detroit/Chaz Lanier/2G Just in case THJ and/or Beasley leave via free agency 38. San Antonio/Miles Byrd/2G/SF Had them going with a guard with the #2 pick then big with the other lotto pick so they get a wing here who may also be the best on the board 39. Toronto/Bogolujb Markovic/PF Another team that I have going small in the lottery balances out the roster a bit 40. Washington/Isaiah Evans/2G/SF Bad Wizards team takes the best available 41. Golden State/Tyrese Proctor/PG One of my favorites from the tournament and Dubs have no backup PG under contract as I see Podz as more of an off the ball guard 42. Sacramento/Milos Uzan/PG Final four standout finally gets the call. Sactown once had 3 really good lead guards and now have none so they take the best one on the board 43. Utah/Amari Williams/C Another one of my favorites from the tourney 44. Oklahoma City/Vladislav Goldin/C More frontcourt depth. Will have to accept a two way contract given everyone under contract 45. Chicago/Adou Thiero/SF/PF Don't know anything about this guy but lots of mocks have this guy higher up the board 46.....

I missed this earlier, just saw the thread.

Thanks for the reminder about New York forfeiting their pick. Wonder why it was pushed out until 2025. Why not 2023, which was the next draft after the Jalen Brunson tampering violating?

How did they catch this anyways?

I like the Houston pick at the end and the reason you gave.

How many international players not coming out of college did you have in the 2nd round?

Why doesn't Denver have a pick?

I had to look up where the last name Coward was from. I guess it's an Old English name.

Goldin isn't an international player, he went to Michigan. But thinking about it, since you had OKC picking him, seems like OKC never picks international players. Was Serge Ibaka the last notable one they had?

He went to Michigan but he's originally from Russia. Sort of like Vivek Ranadive favorite Nic Stauskas being Canadian but playing for Michigan or the Wagner boys being German yet playing for Michigan. I usually classify as them as both foreign and college

Great question on why Denver doesn't have a pick. My best guess is that they traded it in either the Gordon or KCP deals

OKC actually picked Josh Giddey a few years ago and then last year's lottery pick was Nikola Topic from Serbia who missed the season due to injury

I think Alex Abrines from Spain was their 2013 second rounder although he had some strange health problem that was discovered a couple years after he came over in 2016

FWIW, Steven Adams went to Pittsburgh but is from New Zealand so he fits the criteria of what I talked about in the first paragraph

Gonzales from Spain, Markovic from Serbia, Toohey from Australia, Zikarsky from Australia and Yang from China are the foreign guys with no connection to US colleges

Raynaud/Stanford and France, Proctor/Duke and Australia and of course the Goldin from Michigan and Russia as the example from your other post that fits the criteria of my answer in the first paragraph of my response, are the foreign players that went to US colleges

I think the league uncovered some suspicious texts or emails regarding Brunson's dad being the coach and why Brunson should play for the Knicks

Thanks.

And wow, I missed a big one in Steven Adams. If the Thunder could have seen the future and how good Adams would be, they probably wouldn't have given Ibaka that money and rather probably found a way to keep Adams and James Harden. Without Adams, the Thunder wouldn't have won a championship, as I think Harden / Westbrook / Durant would be just enough undersized and have just enough turnovers to lose to well disciplined teams.

Another thing to remember is that Presti does a lot of draft day wheeling and dealing as well so some players may not have been drafted by him but he wound up trading for on draft day. Keep in mind that during the 2020 pandemic draft, he traded for Alexsi Pokuveski who was oft injured during his 3 year run with the team. Got a lot of minutes when they were bad in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons but just couldn't stay healthy

One of the podcast hosts that I listen to was a huge fan of Pokusevski. During those years, he'd watch the Thunder because he didn't know what Pokusevski could do on any play. Something spectacular, something silly.

If the Rockets ever beat the Thunder in the playoffs, it will get more attention that the Thunder had drafted Sengun.

Do the Thunder get this Detroit pick that Houston traded to them, this year?

Good question. The Thunder pick at 15 and 24. The 24 is a pick swap with the Clips from the ill fated SGA trade and the 15 is from Miami although that Miami pick could very well have gone to Houston in some other trade. Not sure

Haven't seen him in NBA action yet, and there's some tough covers out there, but I'll take Condon all day.

Condon with Clayton Jr? They start their careers with rings... take a page from the NFL's book
