RIP Jerry West

Jerry West, who was selected to the Basketball Hall of Fame three times in a storied career as a player and executive and whose silhouette is considered to be the basis of the NBA logo, died Wednesday morning at the age of 86, the LA Clippers announced.

The Clippers, the final NBA team that employed West, broke the news of his death.

Their tribute was soon followed by a statement released by NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

I posted this on another thread but I'll put it here as well

Indeed. Glad that I got to see him in person at one of those Clipper fan events at LA Live back in the summer of 2018 after they drafted SGA and Jerome Robinson. He talked about the players then someone mentioned that the over under on the Clipper win total for that season was somewhere in the low 30's. Jerry then put his thumb up and motioned his fist up and down as a way of saying "bet the over". He was right. The Clips made the playoffs and gave the Steph and KD Dubs a bit of a scare and will be remembered for that great 30 point comeback

He averaged 27 ppg, 81% FTs, 47% FG, 39 minutes a game.

He averaged 40+ mpg in 7/14 of his seasons, and 39+ mpg in 9/14.

Also averaged 2.6 steals per game in 31 games in his final season. That would have been 3rd if he would have played in enough games.

Steals became a stat in his final season.

RIP Mr Clutch ,Zeek from cabin Creek , Mr Logo !!! You will be missed !!!

Child. I remember watching him with Baylor on TV. There are those who consider him the GOAT

I was excited to have Jerry West involved with this team. It gave me hope that the tide was turning in LA, the ascent to the top was nearly complete, and this is a legitimate organization.

Even while things have not been working out in this 213 Era, Jerry West's presence made me feel like we always had something up our sleeve.

Just like Bill Walton, I really wanted him to see us hoist that first ever trophy... RIP to The Logo...
