New Uniforms and Logo

Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General Discussions

Let me know what you guys think. I like it. Just surprised that with black seating, there isn't any black in these uniforms. Back to the red, white and blue scheme

I like that for the first time since the early SD days, there is an actual CLIPPER in the logo. Looks similar to the many mockups that we see on this and various other sites

Like the uniforms although I'm a stickler for the wordmark in the logo to match the one on the uniform but it's cool nonetheless

Actually, this page goes into much more depth

When you say original logo, do you mean the original SD logo or the logo that they went with at the end of the SD tenure when DTS bought the team then continued all throughout his stewardship of the team in LA?

I could see them going with the SD logo but the logo from 1982 to 2014 was the DTS tenure and I'm thinking the organization and league want to move past him

I like it. Finally embracing the nautical nature of the name!

Albeit it came off looking like a yacht vs a sail ship...

I say since Los Angeles, it should stay with that original logo from LA, Donald Sterling no matter how you want to cut. It is part of the clippers organization, history, good or bad you’ll learn from it all those teams that struggled in LA. They should not be forgotten if this team is going to win a chip let it win the chip with the original logo can’t run away from it history, you can only move forward and winning a chip with that logo, not only do you change the teams history you also honored the ones that played for them all those years that we were terrible. never forget the past.

Very impressed. I still hope we keep the old english font jersey in black though.

I get what you are saying and I agree to a certain extent. Not to mention I love the logo(s) from 1984-2015

I guess that is why we are keeping the name (actually something we are carrying from SD, not even LA)

Also I agree, the most important thing is to win. Change the logo all you want, at the end of the day it means nothing without a banner.

But it is a business and they need to sell merch. In that spirit, glad they changed the revamp that Ballmer gave them (current outgoing logo/emblem). The outgoing design was my least favorite, so I welcome the change.

i’ve been a long time fan 30 + yrs I’m just sick and tired of hearing people saying they can’t win just once go to the finals whether they win or not just go to the finals that’s all I want before I pencil !!!

I feel you - but a redesign is not going to hurt/help on that end.

Pay players and coaches to play competitive basketball. Results will follow.

I'll say this. The script on the uniform is very similar to the script during the DTS era so there is that

We got rid of the dude, can we move on?

I was replying to clipperharry when he mentioned that the old uniforms represented players who came up short of winning a title so I mentioned that the script is similar to those days so in a sense, the new uniforms are sort of a throwback to the old days

do you think the similarity is a bad thing?

I can see both sides... but I just like the design. Do you?

Can a design still be good if it resembles bad times? Should the design be similar/the same to the old times so that we are connected to our past and carry their struggles with us to the promised lands? Should we blow it all up and disassociate our look to be as far away from our past due to our team failures, racist owners embarrassing moment, choking leads, etc?

I guess I am asking two separate questions - one philosophical, one design oriented and purely aesthetic...

and should both be considered or influence each other? (three questions)

Nice! Anybody stopped by the Grove to see their pop up shop?

I did mention on both threads that I like the design and uniforms. I specifically mentioned that despite possible blowback, I like the design and would hope that there would be no blowback from the public. Again, this is on the other thread but to more directly answer the question, yes, uniforms can be good even if it represents bad times. I thought the original Charlotte Bobcat uniforms were great despite the team being horrible on the floor

As for my direct reply to clipperharry, he basically said that the uniforms should represent the previous era as a node to all the players who played hard yet came up short. What I was saying was that these uniforms indeed DO just that. These are a lot more retro in style than they are to the current uniforms and specifically pointed out that the script/wordmark is more or less exactly like it was in the late 80's right up until year 1 of the Ballmer era

I was going to but then noticed that there was a limited amount of merchandise and nothing that I was interested in. I think most of the good stuff won't be on sale until summer
