2022 NBA Mock Draft (P. 2)

Clippers Forum » Clipper Blogs

Here's the video which shows both of Murray's good defensive plays, and bad ones.

Good (5:23 - 7:16):

Bad (10:27 - 11:45)

Johnny Davis: His percentages don't look that good, but he might have a role as a 3-point shooter.

Jeremy Sochan: He looks like a good tall, quick defender. He can cut and finish. It's possible he might improve his 3 point accuracy to the point of being respectable, but if not, he still might have a role in this league with the other two things.

Jalen Duren: Good weakside shot blocker. Great hops at getting rebounds. He's only 18, doesn't turn 19 until November.

Trevion Willians: This is the best passing college big I've seen. He is fun to watch. I'm taking him somewhere in the first round.

Mark Williams: I'm wary of someone who doesn't seem to contribute much other than blocking shots. Seems like he struggles if he can't block a shot. He seems out of position too much, and is slow to react to shooters.

Bennedict Mathurin: He seems versatile and can play on and off the ball. However, his FG% wasn't great. I could see him going either way, his all around versatility could land him a role, or he could struggle just enough where he's traded by his 3rd year.

Nikola Jovic: He's tall, and can do a little of everything. I'm taking him in the first round, top 12 at the latest. He turned 19 2 weeks ago.

Murray reminds me of a Horford type player. Horford was taken # 3.

So I think 4-7 is fine for him.

I'm thinking he's more like former Clipper Tobias Harris. Somewhere between 3 & 4 but most likely projects as a 4 whereas Horford is more like a 4 & 5.

Good catch on Trevion Williams. I watched him in the NCAA's while scouting Ivey and he played really well. Not sure if I'm ready to throw him in the first round but I could see him getting rotation minutes if he gets with the right team. Mocking him 49th to Sacramento was probably too low. If I did it today, I'd have him in the 30-40 range.

Are there any 7'0 players 210 lbs. or less that have had a long career? Who are some of the longest?

There aren't. The hope for Chet is that he starts gaining weight with the right nutritionist and strength and conditioning team. The NBA has the best of those so he should tap out at around 240 and still keep his skill set

Is there a year by year breakdown of what Antetokounmpo's weight is?

Does anyone want to make a pick for best or worst dressed? A few years ago, I had Herro as worst dressed, and he was:

https://www.gannett-cdn.com/presto/2019/06/21/PMJS/50b72aa2-599e-44ef-81b0-bc0dbf44817a-EPA_USA_BASKETBALL_NBA_DRAFT.JPG?width=1320&height=1052&fit=crop&format=pjpg&auto=webp

This year, I have:

Best Dressed - Dyson Daniels

Worst Dressed - Ousmane Dieng

Sometimes I have good reasons for my picks, but not this year.

I'm not much of a fashion analyst unless it's regarding NBA uniforms but I'll say that I like the dice on Chet's chain.

I'm glad that I hit on Daniels at 8 and Sochan at 9.

My point guard bias is gonna kill me. TyTy Washington, Kennedy Chandler and JD Davison won't go anywhere near the lottery or mid first round.

Anyone you think went higher than expected?

Clippers draft pick happened during commercial break again smh

So lame! Didn't get to see the pick being made, but not familiar with Moussa Diabate at all. Looks like he's got some good length and could be a small 5 if he bulks up a little more. We'll see what he's got in the Summer League. Hope we can still snag a Kenny Lofton, Matteo Spagnolo (just got picked :/) or J.D. Davison as an undrafted pick up for Summer League too.

Christian Braun, Dalen Terry and David Roddy. I had them all going in the 2nd round but the more I watch them play, the more I think that the scouts got it right. Those guys will be bench players but will have some success.

I also had Ousmanne Dieng in the 2nd round as well but that's mainly because I get my mock out there right away. It became apparent a few weeks after the lottery that he would be late lottery or mid first. Therefore, I'm not surprised that he went 12th

I'm liking what i'm seeing here. Good ball handling for his size, nice post moves and good shot blocking length. He's playing w/ players that were drafted higher than him too like Jaylin Williams. Should be fun to watch him in Summer League:

The more I read, the more I like. His combine results are what got him drafted. I guess he wasn't even considered a 2nd round pick until after his combine results.

The 6-foot-10 French product walked away with boosted draft stock following his monster day. Diabate tested off the charts in comparison to other big-men prospects.

Diabate combine results:

Lane Agility: 11.16 (1st among centers)

Max Vert: 36 (1st)

Standing Vert: (2nd)

3/4 Sprint: 3.26 (1st)

Shuttle Run: 2.9 (1st)

Body Fat %: 2.7% (lowest among all NBA Combine participants)

Hand Length (Inches): 8.50"

Hand Width (Inches): 10.50

Height Without Shoes: 6’9.25″

Height With Shoes: 6’10.25″

Standing Reach: 9’1.50″

Weight (LBS): 216.6

Wingspan: 7’2.50″

Impressive for a big man!

Clippers first round picks have been horrendous outside of Shai, but I trust the Clippers have done their research and know what they're doing for the 2nd round. They've snagged a few gems. Terance Mann (48), Brandon Boston (51) and the jury is still out on Jason Preston (33) who hopefully makes up for not having a FRP for this year Smile

Don't think Moussa will break the rotation any time soon or get any meaningful minutes but at least we've got a nice summer league squad to showcase and our own G league team to develop projects. Moussa looks like a long term project, but can't knock the agility he's got for his size. Looks way more mobile compared to Brice Johnson, Mfiondu Kabengele and Daniel Oturu.

Clippers have been absolutely atrocious at drafting big me the past 10 years

Someone is missing:

Oh yeah, Keegan Murray isn't there. FWIW, I understand why they took him instead of Ivey. Didn't want another malcontent but from the looks of things, Ivey is down to earth and eventually would've warmed up to Sacramento.

We covered this content?

Georgia Tech guard Michael Devoe has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, source tells ESPN. He will get the opportunity to compete for a two-way contract.

Trueblood has all the info on the younggins... any info here?

I guess there's more - exhibit 10 contracts to more players:

The LA Clippers have secured Exhibit 10 commitments from:

  • Georgia Tech SG Michael Devoe

  • Loyola IL SF Lucas Williamson

  • Utah State PF Justin Bean

I think once drafted, most players will say the right things, and look forward to the new team.

Has a first round pick been signed to a two way contract before?

I don't think so. They're guaranteed 2 years based on where they were picked in the 1st round.

Great question but I'm in the dark on this one. The only thing I know is that the Lakers wanted to sign him but the Clips beat him to it so he must be somewhat decent if other teams were after him.

The Lakers overall judgement has been shaky for years. Are there other teams that also wanted him?

Now if the Spurs, Raptors, Grizzlies, or even the Pacers wanted him, that would raise his value.

Great point. I'm going to take a longer look at him

Shaedon Sharpe has a labral tear.

My guy Trevion Williams was a Boston summer league invite.

He played all 5 games.

In 14 mpg, he averaged 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

I keep saying, he can play in the league, at least as a 2.5 stringer. He's not ready to be the main big off the bench, but he's also better than someone who would only play 31 games a year.

2.0 turnovers a game isn't good, but I'm thinking if he played on a real team, he would just play his role and not do more than that.

I'm obviously rooting for JD Davidson to shock some people

Typo, you mean Davison.

Davison played 30.3 mpg, in 5 games, and averaged 4.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.2 steals, 1.2 blocks.

Since you like him, I'll watch a video on him soon.

I knew something looked wrong when I typed that.

Yeah, I'm banking on him being somewhat of a Nate Robinson. Exciting player that lacks bball smarts but gets by through hard work and athleticism while learning the game as he goes
