Lionel Hollins complaining. Really?

Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General Discussions

Lionel Hollins is now complaining about the Clippers coaching staff whining about calls throughout game 4. Really? Where does this guy get off complaining about anything when his team has been getting the benefit of so many calls throughout the series and still been unable to capitalize? Talk about the epitome of sour grapes. Very classless move Lionel.

I cant get over how hated the Clips are. I saw Barkley call that Blake and1 in OT an offensive foul. Thats the exact move Zach Randolph has been using all series. The Grizz get away with pushoffs while hitting the offensive boards.

So many BS calls went to the Grizz last night it was ridiculous. Seriously, shut up Hollins. Maybe if your team wasn't so cocky you wouldn't have blown a 27 point lead in game 1 and be down 3-1 right now.

Lmao what a baby. Yeah he doesn't complain cause he has nothing to complain about.

Seriously??? What is he talking about...Blake got robbed on 3 fouls last night! Normally I am not advocating complaining, and during the season Blake got a bad rap for complaining a lot. But we were really getting the bad end of it last night.

Thankful for Kmart and CP3 keeping the team head straight!

VDN needs to respond with something along the lines of, "Coach Hollins has done a good job training his guys to play dirty! The face slapping drills have really paid off!"

Hollins' exact quote:

"There's a lot of posturing and a lot of coaches whining on every call all the way up the sideline and on the court," Hollins said after the game. "That's the gamesmanship that goes on, and you can't let it bother you and you can't lose your poise."

Don't lose your poise, just lose the games:)

Hollins also made a comment on Chris Paul flopping during a between-quarters interview.

Blowing a 27 point lead, late, in your building, to kick off the playoffs immediately takes away any credibility he has about complaining. Look in the mirror sir.

He's a good coach, but he's pissed that he's down 3-1. Hell we're up 3-1 and we're talking about him.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! "face-slapping drills" ...hilarious!

But seriously, the fact that they went to the head on every single foul in the paint tells me that it's their pre-planned 'strategy'.

You can either push, poke, elbow, rake, slap and flop, while keeping your mouth SHUT... or you can play a fair game and complain about your opponents' "gamesmanship"... you don't get to have it both ways, Lion-elle!

This has gotta make everyone here proud of Vinny's "No excuses" mantra!

So has the "elbow to the eyes" and the "forearm shove on the neck during rebound" drills.

What amazes me is our guys get poked in the eyes and then our guys get the foul for sticking their eyes into the unsuspecting elbows.

3 of Blake's 6 "fouls" were ridiculous.

15 seconds in - Gasol flops with no contact - foul on Griffin

Halfway through first quarter - Gasol has a foot in the restricted zone while moving forwards and the charge is called on Blake!

4th quarter - Blake plants his feet outside the restricted zone and is pushed in the back by Gasol leading to a blocking foul being called.

Utter nonsense, but people are so blinkered they miss all of that.

He's a very good coach, which is what's so disappointing about his comments. I would expect this kind of moaning from the players, but you would think a guy like Hollins would own the fact that his team simply hasn't stepped up when they needed to and that's the reason that they're down 3-1. It's also very disappointing that he's allowed his players to act like a bunch of thugs throughout this series.

Like SDclipper said, he lost his right to complain when his team blew a 27 point lead on their home court.

This. I used to really like Hollins. He's done wonders for the Grizzlies team, but I thought he had more poise than what he's shown so far.

I think Sir Charles said that this series was not even going to be close and the Grizzlies are going to win easily vs the Clippers. Did he make any comments after yesterday's game? I was at the game and my stupid DVR stopped in the middle of the 4th quarter because the timeslot was over I guess. All the NBA analysts seem to love the Grizzlies and how they play tough and gritty defense. So the NBA must have told the refs that "tough and gritty" defense means they are not allowed to call any of those hacks as fouls. I hope Barkley is eating his words about this series...or does he think the Grizzlies will easily take this one in 7?

lol, here's a breakdown of how my uncle said the series would go:

Before game 1:Grizzlies will sweep the Clippers

After Game 1:Clippers got a early Christmas present from the Grizzlies, they will not win any more games.

Game 2:Grizzlies come back from game 1 and play how they should, Clippers will not win another game

Game 3:Clippers got lucky. Grizzlies will not give them another game

Game 4:I'm not impressed. They won in OT. They got lucky again. Grizzlies will take next 3 games.

LMAO, that's what he actually said. Haters gonna hate. People just refuse to acccept the fact that Clippers are finally a good team.

we'll go back to apprectiating him after the series is over. And the Grzz team for that matter. Let's focus on game 5 now. I thought if we blew them out last night we would probably close them out in game 5. I'm not sure if we can stick a fork in them just yet.

^ the Griz will poke and gouge and knee and choke and bite and grab and do evry nasty trick they know on Wed and seeing as how they are at home they will get away with it and probably win. But then back here on Fri the CLips seal thier fate with a win.

I'd rather get the win on Wednesday

^^^so would I cause I work Friday night =/

so far my manager has somehow made my schedule so I'm either off in time to watch the game, or I have the day off of the game of this series. Dumb luck I guess. I'd be off at 9 on Friday, but still I wanna watch the whole game, not just the second half.

I've never heard of a coach saying something like this in the middle of a series. No wonder they are a bunch of losers and are on the verge of an early vacation. Their leader is a b*tch. How could they possibly beat us with such a loser's mentality coming straight from the top.

Blake gets fouled every time he goes to the hoop. If he doesn't fall down, he NEVER gets a call. That's a fact. The refs did all they could last night including taking Blake out of the game in both halfs with shameful foul calls, to help Memphis win. Every single tough call was discussed by the refs and given to Memphis. It was so obvious who Stern wanted to win last night and pretty much the whole series.

We were so good last night that we overcame obvious ref bias and still won. Love our team. So glad I'm not a Memphis fan. Weak team, weak minds, true losers in every sense of the word.

Game 5 is going to be more of the same. Blatant dirty play by Memphis, the NBA doing their best to extend the series by screwing us at every turn...And CP3 single handedly dominating at the end to break their hearts one last time.

Yes. Because I may be at the game.

Let's get the win on Wednesday. I don't want any more heart attack or a potential of screwing it up.

LOL. i was pulling out my hair & biting my nails. im gonna be bald soon. LOL. Smile

wow lionel ritchie, i mean hollins is a b****. i never thought any coach would get mad at vdn for outcoaching his ass. lmao. when you look at a dictionary under grit and grind you will see the definition of "playing dirty, cheap shotting your opponent, raking their faces, setting illegal picks and screens and then whining like a beeyotch when you are at the brink of failure" lol. the positive things we can get out of this series is that we will be prepared for whatever the spurs offer us. i hope we close them out in memphis so i can see those memphis turds cry when they see their overhyped team bounced.

Cp3 told him to worry about his team lol

When the coach is coming up with excuses, Yikes!!! I used to root for the Grizzlies before this series but now **** them really. I am glad they are on the verge of elimination when NO ONE GAVE US A CHANCE. I hope we close this out Wednesday.

The first half was a thing of beauty. Forget the score... this game was a blowout win for the Clippers. Considering the grizzlies' flat-out cheating and the officials' complicity, this was the best we've played Memphis all year.

If ever there was a time when we could be forgiven for hanging our heads and making excuses for losing... game 4 was that time, but no... the entire team put on their hard hats and went to work. I have never been more proud of them.

Any grizz fans reading this that are still clinging to the ridiculous notion that they are the better team... Clippers have won 71% of games against the grizz this year overall, 75% in the playoffs. Your players can't even get it done when they're allowed to cheat and your coach is a crybaby.

just play on and,no complaining thats a true winner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. Let's take Game 5 and walk away from these punks for GOOD, I say!

I was more angered with his comments on us flopping... It was resonated with C Webb as well... I know we flop at times, but I dont want that to me our MO. Officials, AS IS, are not calling the games consistently!

Sounds like Hollins is sore that he's actually getting out coached by Vinny. Say what you will about Vinny but the guy is out coaching Hollins right now. Vinny is gaining some valuable experience right now. He's made some good calls and adjustments to what Memphis is doing. He's motivating the players in the right way and we are winning.

^agreed. vdn is learning on the fly. lets hope we close them out tomorrow.

Glad he retracted his statement...but too bad it's too late and added more fuel to CP3's fire! Big mistake.

VDN has surprisingly been good in the series so far except for one moment, when he took blake out of the game in the 4th.
