Hornets Trade Lamelo Ball and Josh Green to Minny for Naz Reid and a Ton of Picks

Not sure what to make of this. Sounds like a bad deal for both teams.

While Lamelo can be annoying with his ball hogging, he seemed to work well with catch and shoot types like Kon and Brandon Miller. Now, they have a combo guard like Coby White setting them up. Not sure how that will work over the long haul

Also, while Naz Reid is a good pickup, they have an overloaded frontcourt with Steinbach, Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Bridges, Salaun and Grant Williams. They're gonna need to turn this into a 3 or 4 team deal or figure something else out before opening night

For Minnesota, Ball needs to change in a big way. Start playing defense and realize that he needs to get the ball to Ant. While some on the athletic have called him a "catch and shoot" guy which would make him a good match with Ball, I don't really see it that way. He creates his own shot hence why he worked well with a 3 & D type like Mike Conley

There's also the cultural issue as well. Naz Reid was a huge fan favorite and now they have a hole in their frontcourt with no Randle or Reid. Slender Jaden McDaniels will have to play the 4 now

I hate to see teams do this. Trading away all your assets for a big swing like this is too risky. Teams just have to build more wisely these days due to the salary cap.

And given all the draft picks that they sent to Utah for Gobert, you wonder how a mid market team with tons of pro sports competition will keep the roster intact. Low revenue teams usually like to have as many draft picks as possible to keep the payroll low but with Minnesota, they are taking the opposite approach

I hope it works out for them.
