Celebrity game winner and MVP I'm rooting for the team that Keenan Allen is on so I'll say they win and he'll get MVP. Shams is a decent player though so look out for him Team Austin looks horrible....

Cooper Flagg is hurt and skipping everything this weekend.

I work too damn much lol. In that case, I'm going with Team Vince

I remember the Kaman thing. Did not know or remember the Andray Blatche one.

The NBA keeps breaking things that don't need fixing, during All-Star weekend.

Like having an all money ball rack in the 3 point shootout.

Getting rid individual times in the Skills contest. They switched it to a head to head format for a few years. Then switched it to a team format, with best combined time wins.

The original "best time wins" format was the best.

I didn't realize how weird this USA vs. World format was until this morning. Round robin games?

Keep things simple. USA vs. World for 48 minutes, with the @Trueblood stamp of authenticity for which country to represent.

The one change I like is having 2PM start times for Saturday and Sunday. This stuff isn't so great that I want to wait until evening to see what happens. I can get it over with early in the day, or watch it on the DVR and skip commercials and concerts.

Not looking forward to the NBC analysts. Carmelo will probably say "good one" after every made basket in the 3 point shootout, or after every made dunk.

Also, I think Jaylen Brown is having a better season than any of Carmelo's seasons.

Did anyone ask Victor Wembanyama to do the dunk contest?

I do think he's the type of person that could get creative with his height. The same way Dwight Howard sort of did.

If they had Mac McClung vs. Victor Wembanyama, that would be decent.

NBA All-Star Weekend did not capture the Flagg.

Agreed on the skills contest. The other lame thing about head to head is that when two players shoot at the same basket at the same time and the balls hit each other. Like you said, the original way was better

Adam Silver's reasoning for doing the World vs. USA this way is because there are more American players than there are international players so as a result, there are more all star caliber American players than there are international players and American players would be getting ripped off at a chance at being an all star and then there would be undeserving international players for the same reason

My comeback to that is the Western conference and Eastern conference aren't always balanced with stars either. WC players always lose out and there are undeserving EC players. I say that's how it is in all sports. Conferences and nations aren't balanced. You just have to roll with it because as far as I'm concerned, the possibility of the World and USA being a well played game beats whatever negative there is in underserving players not making the roster

Even when it's unbalanced, it's usually just one or two players, who don't end up playing much anyways.

Usually, the top 7 or 8 from each team (when it was conferences) were on par with each other.

Then, there's also players that don't want to be there, anyways. I'd rather have someone who wants to be there, even if not quite on par with the others.

For example, the year Mehmet Okur made it, he had fun with it, and "face guarded" Shaq. I think he shot pretty well that game too.

Usually players like that know it might be the only chance they get, so they take it seriously and play hard.

Yes, two players shooting at the same basket and them bouncing off each other is lame. Who thinks that's good TV?

Starting All Star Saturday Night on the DVR.

NBC is the worst network in sports. Vince Carter had to mention the Olympics, as an emcee to a NBA event?

Adam Silver has just said that the 3 point shootout will be altered so that it's a simultaneous head to head format next year, with competitors starting at opposite ends of the same half of the court.

I did not know the Shooting Stars replaced the Skills contest.

I thought there would be both. There were a few years when they had both.

Also, if I had know the Shooting Stars was back, and that it wasn't just a renamed Skills contest, I would have predicted the halfcourt shot winner.

Because that's what I did in the predictions games in the 2000s.

BUT, they brought back the Shooting Stars without the half court shot??? It's not even the same contest without it.

Also, that was dumb how you get one shot per contestant at the first 6 spots, then as many tries as time allows for spot # 7.

The original format for the Shooting Stars was best. There was a half court shot, and best time wins. As soon as the first contestant makes a half court shot, their round is over.

Also, when they were introducing the concert performer, and they said his music is played in cars and devices, I thought it was going to be Dr. Dre.

Shut up Bob Costas about the Olympics.

The 4 game format is dumb. But I think the game is a little better.

Cade Cunningham had a nice steal and layup.

So far so good with the new format as the time pressure works and game 1 was very competitive, even on defense. I was impressed with the USA Stars team able to make that comeback and win in "OT", despite Wemby's heroics. Guys moved the ball and didn't force. Murray forcing some shots hurt Team World.

Lol Obama teasing Reggie Miller about his pushoffs

Kawhi starting for the NBA Stripes team, along with LeBron, Jalyen Brown, Brunson and KD who drills a 3 right away.

The Klaw, steal and bingo!

Definitely more free throws compared to recent All Star games

Wow- what a finish to game as well. Fox at the buzzer from deep after unselfish passing that gave him a wide open look.

That was really funny. Also how his favorite moment was anytime the Bulls beat the Pacers with Reggie Miller.

Swipa Da Fox for the win.

Good passing in both mini games.

I still think a straight up USA vs. World, or North America vs. World, would be better, with one 48 minute game.

I don't like all of these intermissions in between mini games.

Team World with a decent lead. But they had that in the first game too, and they fell from ahead.

Has Kawhi klawed any steals today? I don't remember.

Gotta have time for all these commercials 😁

These mini games are imposing time pressure. The format forces guys to play some defense earlier if they want to win- and they're all competitors so it's working. More intentional fouls, more guys going for steals and trying to prevent open shots.

The Klaw heating up- b2b bingos , make that 3 for 3, ties it at 29!

Now Leonard, on fire, the fade over Siakam!

Kawhi has 19 points on 7/7 shooting in this game. He likes this court lol

Kawhi is on fire! MVP chants in his house!

Steal and a slam! Kawhi is playing better in the ALL STAR game than in season!

Lol Giannis' son was giving 2 thumbs up on Kawhi's sensational shooting, and Giannis, who's on Team World, tried to turn those thumbs down, but kid just turned them right back up.

"Kaw-hi Leo-nard" chants... IN HIS HOUSE

Kawhi getting the MVP chants

That was very cute. And funny!

How about former Clipper greats Baron Davis and Jamal Crawford getting Bob Lainier Community Assist awards early today

The Klaw pump fake, slaaaaaaam dunk!

Kawhi said, "WEIGHT ROOM". And ONE.

Leonard now, on the run, and 1 against Sengun! Ties it at 43.

Lebron good foul there against Wemby to prevent the easy deuce

Kawhi has been crushing it...... points to the wall after a 3

Leonard, ice in his veins, cans the bingo over Townes! 48-45, points at the Wall! 3.5 seconds left.

This has got to be the best ASG in years and years and years

WOW- Wemby had a wide open look but missed as USA Stripes will now play USA Stars for the championship.

For sure. Crazy how every game has been down to the buzzer.

I got a Klaw steal to remember in this 3rd mini game.

Lol, spell check made me capitalize Klaw, otherwise the submission was rejected.

To think the coaches didn't even pick Kawhi for the All Stars team- what a travesty.

That is a good point about making them play some defense earlier.
