Intuit Dome is Officially Open
Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General DiscussionsIt is a beautiful stadium! Hope they fix that facial recognition system and not have any recurrence.
I hope the huge scoreboard inside the stadium is not precluding the views for the folks in the upper levels.
The schedule is out and we still have a high number of B2B games - 16!
It is sad to see that we are only in 9 games on national TV (ESPN and TNT). Not complaining about the league as the team dug itself in this situation of being in the status as a non-elite team. But let’s hope we rise as one and a strong contender from the WC.
Facial recognition?
Yeah, opening night had some glitches. If you download the Intuit Dome app, it takes a selfie of you if you opt into the facial recognition option. That just means that when you buy a ticket, it matches your face with the purchase then when you enter the arena, instead of scanning the ticket from your phone, you look into a camera of sorts and it recognizes your face as a ticket buyer
IMO, it's taking the technology thing too far and not surprisingly, it backfired on opening night as it didn't work and you had fans standing outside for over an hour. Thankfully, Bruno Mars didn't start his concert until everyone was inside
If I'm Ballmer, I'm scrapping that whole option until they get it right and even then, is it really that necessary?
As far as the halo board is concerned, I guess the important thing is that it doesn't block the view of the court but if you're way up there, all you can see is the court and you don't see the rest of the arena
No major issues for night 2 at ID

The amount of back to backs is unfortunate but it shouldn't be that way. This is on the schedule makers. Doesn't have anything to do with the move to ID unless they can prove that it's a result of promising not to have events at the same time or day as events at the Forum or Sofi. If that is indeed the case, Ballmer needs to hold off on scheduling events at the Forum until the Clipper schedule and ID concert schedule is set. Then schedule stuff accordingly at the Forum

And this video is nice too:
Great find! Thanks for sharing
I wonder if the place is 100% done or if there is still work to be done on things like the practice facility, medical facility or Clipper locker rooms
I don't think facial recognition would be any faster than scanning a bar code.
Plus there's errors if you scan it in certain lighting from your phone, then it sees you in different lighting upon the gate entrance area.
How many stretches are there with playing a time 3x in 16 days?

Good point. I've been saying all along that some of these bells and whistles are somewhat unnecessary. I love the majority of what ID seems to be about but the facial recognition just came off as unnecessary and it back fired on opening night
There should be two WALLS.
The visiting team gets to choose the direction. So all they have to do is select THE WALL to be on their side in the first half, so they're away from THE WALL in the second half.

Section I"Basket/Backboard
a. A team’s basket consists of the basket ring and net through which its players try to
shoot the ball. The visiting team has the choice of baskets for the first half. The basket
selected by the visiting team when it first enters onto the court shall be its basket for the first
half.
b. The teams change baskets for the second half. All overtime periods are considered
extensions of the second half.
@Trueblood, if you go to other venues before you go to the Intuit Dome for the first time, are you now going to have threads titled Count Up?
Since the Intuit Dome has already opened.
I've also brought this up, but I wonder how the facial recognition is going to work when people paint their faces to games.
If they want The Wall, then it should be expected that more of that college sports atmosphere and fan presence is going to be at games.
Some other teams' fans are more known for face painting in the NBA.
Haha. Great question. As you can see, I did my Intuit Dome review and said "No more countdown. Intuit Dome is here" or something along those lines
I think I'll just title the future threads as "Intuit Dome is open but I love doing these road trips so much......"

Great point. Facial recognition worked for me yesterday. When entering the flagship, I had to put my face up to the camera and it worked but then when it came time to enter the arena, I walked in the facial recognition line and I didn't have to even put my face up to the screen. The ushers just said that I was good to go inside
My guess is that the face painted types will just use the wallet pass line?
