Clippers to Sign Alex Stepheson to 10 Day Contract

Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General Discussions

Orlando was tire of waiting. 2 hours left. Clips to sign Alex Stephenson to a 10 day contract.

Here are Alex Stepheson's Stats:

http://dleague.nba.com/player/alex-stepheson/

He seems like a bruiser power forward type and doesn't shoot 3's at all. 16 points, 9 boards per game, 49% FT though.

Seems like a signing due to a wait out on buy out prospects.

I hope this guy can get a few minutes to see what he can do.

Highlights always look good it's just a matter of playing time now and proving himself. But will Doc let him??

I misread his stats- he actually averages nearly 14 rebounds a game- whoa. Here are some videos:

He looks like an energy guy can be a beast down low. Reminds me a bit of Kenneth Faried.

Is Ayres done? Looks like we've finally got our third string center while not having a backup, or even a starting power forward. Interesting.

I think Doc went to the same GM school as the Dodger GM. Instead of even trying to make a trade that will better your team, make fake pretenses about great trades you may do but in the long run do basically nothing but sign guys no one else wanted anyway. That way a team can look like they give a crap, when really they are fine sitting on their hands and making money for the boss.

This kid won't last long, plus he'll never get much of a chance to get off the bench. Nice move. roll

So here is a question to ponder as we do nothing at the deadline. DO you think the Clippers are being run by the computer and sabermetrics rather then by the eyeball tests? And by this I mean in the trade dept, just as the Dodger are.

The off season for baseball being done the Dodgers basically did nothing to make themselves better for he upcoming season. They built their roster with a lot of young, unproven, talent and with vets that have history of injuries because they were cheap. They got the payroll down by 100 million bucks. With the promise of,wait until you see what we have,in 2019. Dumping salaries.

Can you think the Clippers may be built the same way? See who's available, plug their stats into the Cray computer and see if it tells us this person would help and if so, what would it cost , and is it worth it?

What makes the Dodger even worse is many time the computer sets the lineup cards, can you imagine letting a computer change our starting 5 every game based on what the numbers say we should do?

JEFF GREEN!!!!!!

Give him Lance's old uniform to save $$

Great, another guy the opposing team will foul on purpose because he can't shoot free throws. So what can he do that Cole already provides? The good news is that these 10 day contract guys are easy to cut quickly if we pick up a player that was been waived or bought out. There could be some interesting opportunities coming up soon.

looks like the management does not want another point guard to take minutes away from" king little rivers"

which is bull****

we need a young, fast, back up point guard to pester other guards..!!!!!

I actually played against this guy when he went to Harvard-Westlake. He was a beast in high school. Went to UNC as a 4 or 5 star recruit, but never developed the way they thought. Ultimately, he ended up at USC.

Big guy who can board. Not sure how much the Clippers need him, but it's only a 10 day contract.

On the other hand, if DJ or Cole gets hurt in the playoffs, then we are forced to go to small ball lineup at times. So maybe this guy is just that backup insurance policy at the center position.

Haven't seen you post in a while Jamfan- good to hear from you again!

That's pretty cool you played against him- the videos seem to suggest that he is a handful inside as well. Are you a point guard- maybe the Clippers can sign you to a 10 day Wink.

If we were why in gods name did we go for Byron Mullens and hawes.

I am assuming you are answering the question I pondered of,are we using s computer t make some of our choices. If you are, then that sort of is my point.

The Dodgers have signed a lot of guys that are real head scratchers (Dodger fans, think LAtos as our big pitcher signing, ,or think about letting Zach go) and turned out to be turds, but they were picked by computer because sabermetrics say they were worth it. Mullens and Hawes would be perfect examples if whatever category the front office.....er Doc......looked at and decided they were just what we needed, until they weren't.

Maybe, but IF they are, the FO is using 486 and advance stat data from 1992, lol. Anything in today's saber metric models would have said...buyer beware.

Oh and by the way, how much did the Dodgers spend last year and where did that get them. It's more then just about how much you spend, it's about value.

We need a big PF. PP obviously ain't it. Tonight proved that you can get killed playing small. We needed a big body and Green or Wes weren't it. We need a big far more than a PG..

Memphis reportedly had him in training camp. They've got a scrapy bunch over there

Alex Stepheson just had 12 points and 15 rebounds for memphis. he couldn't get off the bench for Rivers Sr.

Unbelievable.. I'm literally sick of Doc. After Alex's 2nd 10 day contract I was wondering if he could do some things if given the playing time but now we know.. Man another early playoff exit and Doc has got to go. No ifs, ands, or buts about it!!!

Memphis pretty much depleted right now so he will get playing time there.

And he sure is making the best of it. We get Pierce playing out of position and he doesn't come close.

I don't know if he's making the best of it. His stats came from a 50 point blow out lost and he had to shoot 17 times. He actually made himself look bad scoring that inefficiently where defense was nonexistence and garbage time started at half time

Well, we know that before Rivers Jr's injury, Aldrich and Prigs is just burning their butt in the bench. He doesn't want to put a player in the floor that might get the minutes of his beloved and incredible talented son, thanks to that, Prig and Aldrich were able to show something, if not we are already out from the 4th place.

We are playing without a power forward since Griffin went down. Then he brings one in and doesn't use him. I am so sick of small ball. I can't wait until Griffin comes back and we can be done with it.
