Ewwww! Why are we looking at Ben Gordon? And why are we looking to lock him up for 2 years? Hopefully it's not because Doc knows JJ won't be back this season. That's all I can think of.

^ I second that "Ewwww!".

I am fine with Gordon at the minimum. I remember him playing very good against the Celtics in the playoffs for a couple of series. Doc appears to like guys that played well against his team, Mullens, Turk, Gordon.

Doc is over infatuated with shooters. I think he's done a great job thus far, but I dunno about Gordon. He's not a catch and shoot guy and we already have a ball dominant PG, in addition to a ball dominant SG (Crawford) coming off the bench.

I'm not a huge fan of Gordon either, but I'd imagine he'd be signed as insurance for JJ, not out of an "over-infatuation with shooters."

Yeah, that is a little scary. And the second year is a team option so its not really 2 years.

Let me see, we had Jamison, Mullens and Vujacic on our team. We have 3 empty slots now and have replaced or will potentially replace them with Big Baby, Granger and Ben Gordon. Yet, some people don't want to pick them up? I'm glad some of you aren't our GM. lol

Repped (+1)

Gordon is terrible. He's a guy who is supposed to guy overcome his bad defense with scoring, but he has both bad shooting numbers and a high turnover rate.

IF we are really considering Gordon, doesn't that suggest there may be something seriously wrong with JJ - ie he will not play this season.

Or that Doc wants Jamal to go to bench while JJ is out.

To be honest I don't mind Gordon, with Jamal and JJ down we really need a filler and anyways we wouldn't expect to much from him because CP and BG will be there, but our number 1 priority should be netting Granger, praying like hell we get this guy

I'd rather sign Granger and then bring in World Peace for toughness on D.

Hmmm- not sure about Ben Gordon as he has shot terribly this season. I can't imagine that he'd do better than Willie Green.

WTF?! Ben Gordon is a massive turd. At this point he is the Mullens of SGs. Even Willie Green is like 2x better. He can't guard a garbage can and chucks a lot but bricks everything.

Hopefully Gordon decides to go back to the Bulls so we can "settle" for Metta.

We saw what happened with shooters from Charlotte - Byron Mullens. No just no to Gordon. Rather bring back Vujacis which is likely

Dammit, see what happened when Redick turned into Billups 2.0. No we're looking at this chucker. Get well soon jj. Like real soon

Gordon is a tad bit better than you guys are saying. He's sort of a low-rent Jamal.

Have a bad feeling one of Jamal or Redick are not coming back and this would be a response.

Great way to put it into perspective! Perfectly said.

Repped.

Metta has been 3pt happy the last few years at a horrible clip. If NY couldn't find minutes for this mental patient, why should we "settle" on him? pffft.

Glad to see people are now using the term I coined.

/wipes tear from eye.

Very Happy

With both Gordon and Metta, they are guys seen as unnecessary by bad teams still trying to get into the playoffs, I'd think if they had much value their teams would keep them. Granger was available because Indiana got a player in return, Davis team had given up for the year.

I'm worried they want Gordon because redick is secretly done for good. Or that granger is leaning away from us

are we passing on Granger? i hope not. Sad

Most probably the former. I think Granger signs with us.

I don't want Gordon, unless jj is going to be out for the remainder of the season. And we need a quality shooter so Jamal can go back to bench.

To be honest, after we get Granger I really don't care what happens with our last roster spot. There's no big men that are out there, but why sign Ben Gordon when we can get a younger Jimmer Fredette?

If Collins wouldn't come with Media attention, I'd like him in our last spot. He plays smarter D than Hollins...

There's no real timetable on JJ Redick's return. It could be by season's end or not at all. If the Clippers pursued Ben Gordon, that's why.

would you guys take jimmer over gordon?

Take Jimmer over Gordon, he will get better the vet Gordon will get worse.

yeah same here. but i doubt doc is even looking at him. havent heard any rumors about us connected to him

itsLuigi wrote:

In this context yes. Jimmer is a better replacement for JJ. If we need to sign someone for Crawford, Gordon is the better fit.

Sign Gordon! I mean, any one is better than Willie. Ben isn't as bad as some of you make it seem.

I think a motivated Gordon can help a lot of teams. The question is does he still have the inspiration?

I'm sure Doc Rivers can put some motivation in him. He made DeAndre the league leader in rebounding and FG percentage for crying out loud.

Personally I think Gordon still has some gas left in the tank. Worst case, he starts chucking up everything he touches and Doc benches him. Best case, we gain another shooter that can move Jamal back to the bench so we have a 2nd unit that can actually score some points.

I'm sure he will be motivated if he join this team. Come on, we have championship aspiration and what is a better way to get paid is to contribute to a winning team.

Ben Gordon is nowehere near what he once was.. Now unless Jamals injury is more serious than they are leading us to believe there really is no need to bring this guy on anything more than a 10 day contract..

He was already up there in fg% but he has made him one heck of a rebounder. Shows what a little faith in someone will do.

Agreed with both you guys. A look at Gordon probably means some worry about Redick's return. Gordon isn't bad at playing the off screen game, though he does like a lot of isolation after catching the ball similar to Jamal. The weird thing is the 2 years talk, not sure how that is supposed to play out if Redick and Jamal are healthy. Him and Jamal are a bit redundant in terms of their best roles on a team (6th) man and their general skill set. It is still stock piling a cheap asset in case he does play well, so I get that angle He's shot terribly this season, and he hasn't specifically been good since he was in Chicago, BUT, let's look at his pts/36, 3PT%, TS% and Ortg over the seasons since Chicago: 2009-2010: 17.8 pts/36, 32.1% 3PT, 53.4% TS, 106 Ortg 2010-2011: 15.6 pts/36, 40.2% 3PT, 54.8% TS, 104 Ortg 2011-2012: 16.7 pts/36. 42.9% 3PT, 54.9% TS, 101 Ortg 2012-2013: 19.4 pts/36. 38.7% 3PT, 51.5% TS, 96 Ortg 2013-2014: 12.8 pts/36, 27.6% 3PT, 42.2% TS, 80 Ortg Overall: 17.1 pts/36, 37.8% 3PT, 53.2 TS%, 101 Ortg We all know he's been terrible this year, that is a given. His Ortg has had a continuous downward trend also which is funny. This year though, Mullens can and has produced better offense than what Ben is doing, so that's obviously terrible, but he seems to have totally checked out from the Bobcats. Let's not get it twisted, the last 5 years he's been a below average player, no questions asked. Still, he shot 38.7% or higher the previous 3 seasons before this one from 3PT range (40.1% average), is a career 40.2% 3PT shooter with 5.0 attempts per 36, which is a good attempt rate, and of course good make rate, so it's not like he just forgot how to shoot. Of course who....

Probably the best descriptive word for BG

Again with Doc and players putting work against his Boston team. Sure Ben Gordon shot lights out against Ray Allen, but after his time with the Bulls, he just went bust. How many unproductive seasons has he had after the Bulls. From Detroit to Charlotte. In my opinion, I just can't see him putting in the work.

5 years of mediocre down to poor production

Please. NO BG usage to refer to Ben Gordon. I will accept Ben G., B. Grodon, and BenG. I almost fell to the floor thinking it was BG.

With the news of Granger going to Clippers we do not need Ben.

Jamal should rest for a while. Go with Danny at 3 and Matt at 2.

Hopefully we have a healthy roster a week prior to playoffs so guys can get use to each others game.

CP, JJ, Danny, BG, DJ

DC, Jamal, Matt, and Big Baby!

Haha, totally forgot about them having the same initials.

Matt Barnes playing defense at SG though, oh man, that's a lot of fouls for him.
