Looks like we got this.
Clippers Sign Danny Granger (P. 7)
Clippers Forum » Clipper Rumorsidk but to me it looked like Jamal faked his injury so that way we can say that we really need Danny to play and has more minutes.
its all a conspiracy or a plan set up by a smart guy name Doc ...tun tun tunnnn!!!
Jamal looked cool walking back to the locker room
Granger is going to pick the Clippers for a couple reasons:
He lives in LA. Because he's throwing away his Bird Rights, he may as well save some money and live in his own home during the NBA season.
Doc Rivers is the Barrack Obama of NBA coaches. Most young players look for someone for more than just basketball advice and, as a black player, there's no coach in the NBA more respected than Doc right now.
Familiarity with Clippers. As he is one of the many NBA players that figured out that you can still live in LA even though you don't play for the Lakers, Granger works out in LA with the UCLA crew and that means Collison, Hollins, and Barnes. He also works out in the Clippers state of the art practice facility in the off season.
Clippers have a hole in his natural position. With Jared Dudley being a total flop this season, the Clippers have a hole at the 3 spot. Granger would love to be a starting 3 with plenty of minutes. As long as he plays well, Rivers will have no problem giving him starter minutes at 3.
That said, the Spurs are always a team that seems to get players to move there even though they are a small market. Houston should steer clear of Granger because they shouldn't mess with the Parsons' minutes. He may just bolt if offered the right price. I'm sure Morey thinks that he will match Parsons offers, but if it comes too high, he might check his calculator and then incorrectly change his mind
I hope we do sign Granger but what do you guys think of Ivan Johnson too? or do we want a bigger guy
$$ How much is Danny going to be worth next yr as a FA?
MLE from his play this year to about 7-8 mil. If we trade both Barnes and Dudley for cap space/picks, I think it opens up the MLE for him. We still have Bullock as a backup SF without Barnes and Dudley.
Bulls, Raptors, Suns, Mavs might be able to pay more for his services. I might be missing some other teams.
The Redick and Crawford injury sucks bad but in a weird twist of fate it opens up a void for DANNY GRANGER to find out if he can be the old Danny Granger on the Clippers and if he can just play solid D and be 80% of what he used to be on offense... THIS IS A GIFT FROM HEAVEN!
Biggest Disappointment this season for me.....
1) Dudley
2) Redick
3) Barnes
Biggest Surprise
1) BG
2) DJ
3 Collison
So obviously we need. Granger more than ever
@SpearsNBAYahoo: NBA free agent Danny Granger having phone conversations with the Spurs, Heat, Rockets, Clippers and Bulls today, a source said.
Hopefully he's telling all those other teams "thanks, but no thanks."
As a Clip fan, I have learned to deal with disappointment. It doesn't make it easy, but --it happens. I was excited when we drafted Danny Manning and Shaun Livingston, acquired Kerry Kittles, Andre Miller, and JJ. Now unknown about Jamal. This could be biggest disappointment because I believed this was the year Clips could "rise". What is your biggest disappointment with Clip history?
Question: when is he coming back! After two games in the playoffs or what?
I have to say Dudley made those 3 3s of his at extremely opportune times, that last one to give us a 6 pt lead, I think sealed it.
With Crawford out Granger is going to get a crazy amount of shots. He should be signing off coming here asap our SG's were the third options with the ability to take first option shots.
Olowokandi, signing Ford instead of George Karl in early 2000s, and Baron Davis
Gotta get Granger now since Jamal might be out for some time.
Wow, Butler is trash. Under 40 percent from the field. His numbers look a lil ok because he plays on the shittiest team in the league. But advanced metrics will show that he is highly overrated.
Overrated? Who's overeating him?
I thought we only had one roster spot left????
^ Dos... we're at 13 right now.
i'd pick him up just to deny teams like houston or spurs
Any news on granger?
Mullens, Jamison, Redick, Dudley, Turkoglu, Vujacic... You're telling me Doc doesn't love his shooters? lmao
Would be fine if he actually picked good shooters so no Mullens, Jamison and VUjacic who are done or were never useful to begin with.
Dudley regressed like crazy no one expected that and Redick is injured so yea can't fault him for that. Turkoglu has been decent.
I just wish Turkoglu would actually SHOOT. He's been trying to take defenders off the dribble. Not his game at all.
I completely understand the strategy though... Surround Blake by guys who can knock down the long ball gives him more room to operate in the paint. There weren't many guys out there better than who Doc brought in, so I'm probably being too hard on coach.
Turkoglu started out ok, but has slipped pretty bad the last few weeks, his turnover rate is way up, he's playing really bad pick and roll defense and other than the game against New Orleans he's been shooting bad.
My guess is Turkoglu doesn't play much anymore if we get Granger. Dudley was our backup PF against OKC and played there some last night in the last few minutes when game was close, so I think there is a good chance Dudley takes Turkoglu's job completely if Granger crunches Dudley out of SF minutes.
Man. I can't wait to see who he chooses tonight. I'm so impatient
Just for reference here is the tweet:
chris @Chrisclipsla 3h
Heard Granger will make decision tonight so we wait
He seems to be somewhat reliable with his 'sources' in the past, so we will see...
I don't see why Granger would select the Spurs over a starting role here in LA. That would make zero sense.
Keep in mind that he said Granger is deciding - not announcing.
All we need is the verbal commitment from Granger and his camp and i will be pleased..
This signing is important if we get Granger he helps tremendously now and in the playoffs.. I'm really beginning to worry that JJ's injury might be very serious..
Seems to be a harder decision for Granger to come here than Big Baby.
^^^^ got to it before I could. Sounds like good news to me! I guess I will be on my phone all day tomorrow during school. I was when Big Baby was signed and let out a huge Yes!!! And everyone looked at me like I was crazy!!! Come on Granger!!!!
Ja. I did it at work. I let out a "Yeah Baby!"
