Blake Griffin Injures Ankle

Blake Griffin suffered a mild sprained left ankle and a sore left knee after Nets forward Kris Humphries barreled into the Clippers All-Star power forward with 2:53 left.

Griffin went after a defensive rebound when Humphries tried to chase down the ball, but instead took out Griffin near the Clippers' bench.

Griffin went down hard on the court. Mo Williams took exception and pushed Humphries, earning a technical foul in the process.

"I had a rebound and I guess he wanted to dive after it and took my legs out, rolled my ankle and rolled my knee," said Griffin, who finished with 28 points and 17 rebounds. "The knee is good, but the ankle might be a little bit swollen, But it won't be anything that holds me back. I'll get some treatment on it tomorrow and be ready to go."

The Clippers play the Spurs in San Antonio Friday, the last of a six-game, 10-day trip.

"I'm playing in that game," Griffin said. "I will be fine."

That looked like a dirty play by Humphries. It may not seem obvious but it seemed that his intention was more to roll into Blake's legs with his back than to go for the ball. Hopefully Humphries will get paid back or gets some bad karma at least....

yeah, that was a nasty play. that's exactly when mo got the tech too..

This is Horrible like the Clippers need more bad news. Hopefully it heals well...

At some point he's going to have to give as good as he gets. He can start by setting bone-breaking screens.

hack-an-ankle?

It'll give Blake time to look at some FT videos, NBA contracts on specific players is at all time high $.

Humpries was playing dirty all night against Griffin, and when I saw that play, i was in shock that he didn't get penalized for it. Once again proving that refs let too much slide when it comes to defending Griffin.

It didn't look like a dirty play at all. Both of them dove for the ball, but Kris landed on Blake's foot.

It's too bad that Humphries is such a piece of garbage, cause he's a super athletic dude and has a decent mid range. I remember a few seasons ago when they had lost a record setting amount of games in a row and then he scored like 26 against us and they won. The block on the lob to Blake shows how athletic he is, and physically he is very similar to Blake, he's just got a bad attitude and plays the antagonist. Hopefully Blake is fine.

We need to start playing smarter, stupid fouls, turnovers, missed freethrows and technicals are the reason behind the majority of our losses. We have to get it together...

You forgot to mention inexcusable blown defensive assignments . . . SMH.

It might be a good time to rest Blake/CP/Caron vs Spurs. Let the guys sit and just rest physically and mentally.

It's also a good time to showcase Gomes and Cook for possible trades. Haha

After Spurs, we play like 6 straight at home. Need all of those wins for sure.

Humphries is out and out a pure piece of sh*$. That was a down right dirty play and everyone knows it. That was an NFL tackel at its best,,in fact that would have been a 15 yeard penalty and an auto first down for blocking below the knees.

I am honestly sick to my stomach thinking that Blake will be out,,but I suspect he won't. With all the pounding he takes every fracking night it is pretty obvious he is a tough guy. I was more worried about his knee they way he was twisted.

This relates back to the earlier thread on how the league is allowing players to be more physical with Griffin, simply ridiculous. Now I know how Orlando fans feel when players hack up Dwight all night long and he doesn't get any whistles.

I honestly don't even know how the team should address this. I'm hoping they're sending the league video evidence of too much contact and flagrant fouls that went uncalled, but beyond that? What other recourse do they have until someone puts Blake in a wheelchair?

LIke the one the other night when Blake got a choke hold put on him and there was maybe a foul but not a flagrant,,as anyone else would have had called fo them.

^^Maybe the Clippers can send the video of that to the league for review. Unfortunately the intent doesn't look obvious but within the context of the game it seems more likely that it was NOT an innocent play.

But yeah Kmart was more trying to be the enforcer, but unfortunately his anger can spill over at crunch team leading to costly fouls/technical fouls. Reggie is more of a sneaky enforcer type- he'll try to get you without the refs noticing.

Reggie is not an enforcer. What in his career has shown you that he's an enforcer? It's like Ron Artest has that fake perception of being an enforcer. All he ever did was hit some nerd in the stands. He never hit Ben Wallace for throwing a towel at him.

All Reggie Evans ever did was molest Kaman. Kenyon will fight, but at some point Blake is going to have to fight for himself and just take the punishment. Like when Shaq went crazy in Chicago.

The answer: Send in Cookie for a single play to take out the other team's best player... nothing insane, a broken nose or some busted teeth will do it, and those type of flagrants are easily disguised by just throwing an elbow in traffic. Tell him to EARN his $2million dollars. If you can't hit a shot, at least hit a f**king player and bring something to the table.

He could have destroyed BG's knee a ala Livingston. The way he hit he could have torn all the cartilage. He should be suspended for 5 games.

Blake gonna choke a nigga out sooner or later

^ That kinda language is gonna get you booted.

Besides, Humphries is a white boy! Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_19

It's against the rules to advocate violence Twisted Evil but if Cookie out to the kindness of his heart fixes their deviated septum it's OK. VDN should have done it to Humphries. If we don't start he's going to get hurt.

lol, I can post "****" but I can't post "nigga"??

lol, this website is weird. Love this forum, but why does it censor words sometimes and other times it doesn't?

What if the Clippers ask for a review of the play? Chances Humphries could get a suspension? Question

No you cannot- banned.

i for one wish blake would smack someone good to send a message to the rest of the league players "i'm madder than hell and i'm not going to take it anymore!". if he....

Blake didn't seem to be limping or anything when I saw him right now at the LA Defenders game watching

^^He didn't seem 100% during last night's game, but I'm just glad it doesn't seem to be hampering him much.

He didn't do,,if I recall,,any of those spin moves that he normally does close to the basket,,,generally with 3 guys on top of him and he punches his way through them. Fortunalty CP3 and Mo were en fuego

If he's having even minor troubles, just bench him one game against a crap team, or any team for that matter. If we need him in the 2nd half or down the stretch, just sub him in. Worst thing that happens is we lose a game, and right now were in good shape. I'd rather he remain healthy and get a little rest. We should also sit out CP3 for 1 game as well, do this off and on with Butler too, so they get rest. All these jam packed games are taking their tolls on players.

no he didn't look right at all, sit him until he is 100%, we need him in top shape for the playoffs
