Garfield: Pretty good movie.  No real flaws.  I didn't know Garfield and Odie were friends.  I always thought Garfield thought Odie was annoying, and that Odie didn't understand Garfield thought he was annoying. In this movie, they're friends. Horizon:  An American Saga:  Chapter 1: There was no over arching plot that connected all of the scenes.  They weren't tied together that well.  And long durations (probably 30+ minutes) occurred before we saw some characters again. The whole time, I kept trying to figure out what was driving this movie. And I couldn't figure out who the protagonist was.  It felt like a bunch of scenes that weren't tied together that well. Not sure if I want to watch Chapter 2. Tuesday:  This was partly a supernatural movie.  I still have questions about some of the symbolism of the imagery.  The imagery in the movie wasn't always easy to understand, and overpowered the scenes.  An explanation as to why the imagery was happening, never became that clear. Could have used some dialog to explain the imagery. Thelma: Great funny movie.  Exactly the type of movie I had wanted to see. I Saw The TV Glow: For most of the movie, I liked it.  Interesting movie about some characters. However, I didn't quite fully understand the last 20 minutes.  Or what it meant.  A Quiet Place:  Day 1: This movie was great, just like the others in the series. Bob Marley:  One Love: The actors did a great job capturing the way the people spoke.  Without captions, this would have been even harder to understand, since they use pronunciations and words that are different than what we are used to. Did a good job of telling the story. Beverly Hills Cop: Never seen the movie before.  Good combination of action and comedy.  Great movie. ....

Flight Risk: Saw it in 4DX. Was one of the most realistic movies involving a plane I've seen, in terms of what it's like to fly and land a plane. Good movie. The Seed of the Sacred Fig: It was a good suspense movie. Companion: This was a really fun movie. I liked it. Emilia Pérez: The musical part of it was good. Pretty good suspense thriller type movie. The Brutalist: Boring. I've seen other movies that I've liked with singular themes of The American Dream; Capitalism; or Immigrants in the USA. Just because this movie tried to combine all of them, doesn't make it good. Also, I didn't realize the theater I saw it in was going to have a tiny screen. Usually I sit in the back. I picked the back, row P. I didn't realize I'd have to read so many subtitles. At intermission, I asked the box office if I could switch seats. They let me. I moved to Row C. The person next to my left in row C had seen me do that, and then done the same thing, which was move closer. Much easier to read now. Didn't make the movie better though. Riff Raff: Favorite movie I've seen this year. Good and fun and kept you on your toes. Alien: Only 2nd time seeing it, and first since 2013. Watched the theatrical release version. And then watched the extended scenes afterwards. I liked the atmosphere and how it set up things. I also noticed the line about cornbread. Aliens: Watched the Director's Cut. Another line about cornbread. Watched the Director's Cut. I didn't like how MU/TH/UR was barely involved in this movie. It was a big part of the first movie. There's also a gag where I think Newt points her finger at Ripley's chest, then flicks Ripley's face....

Captain America:  Civil War My first MCU movie since Iron Man 3. I was impressed with how involved the plot was.  It wasn't simplistic. Captain America:  Winter Soldier Pretty good, but it took too long into the movie for the Winter Soldier to do stuff. Also, it's starting to get annoying how there's references to other MCU series outside of Captain America.  There's references to events in those movies. Black Widow:   Pretty good dynamic between the characters. Thunderbolts: I generally like movies where a group of different characters come together as a team.  So this was good. Probably the best of the 4 MCU movies. Sinners: I liked the setup of the characters and environment.   I then thought the movie would either be more of a horror movie, which it wasn't really until the end. Or I thought that if the movie had just focused the idea that blues music was evil, I would have enjoyed it more. One of the shootouts at the end was good.  But I wish the main fight wasn't so racial. Karate Kid (2010):   This was a good homage to the original.  It had all of the same heart and references. Only thing that was a bit unrealistic is that these were 12 year old kids doing these advanced fights.  That seems a bit much. The fight scenes were good.  A lot better than the first few movies, which were fine for their time.  But I also cannot believe that 12 year olds can do these fights. Also, there was a friend character who wasn't mentioned again after the first 20 or 30 minutes. Final Destination:  Bloodlines Hadn't seen a Final Destination since # 1 or 2.  This was really good. And I finally got to see a horror movie in 4DX.  This was one of the most crowded movies of the year, and the audience liked it. Good action - thriller - revenge movie.  You have to suspend....

Mission Impossible:  The Final Reckoning: Having the President of the USA have to decide on whether to do the nuclear launch, seemed distracting to the rest of the plot. There was already enough going on, with The Entity, without that subplot. A Complete Unknown: This moment was pretty cool.
Bob Dylan plays Maggie's Farm, instead of folk music.
Conclave: Pretty good church suspense movie. The Alto Knights: I liked this.  Too bad it was pulled from theaters quickly.  I saw it on a rental. The Phoenician Scheme: There were a lot of good visual gags.  However, there was a lot of silence in between characters speaking, and I didn't like that part of the movie style. This movie was too eccentric. Audience liked it, though. M3gan: Pretty good killer movie. M3gan 2.0: The characters weren't developed as well.  Wasn't s good. Jurassic World Rebirth: They did a pretty good job with the callbacks.  But there wasn't much originality here.  Honestly, even in the 90s when I tried rewatching Jurassic Park a second time, I liked it a lot less than the first time. I don't know what it is about this franchise that doesn't captivate me as much as I want it to. Liked the original book for Jurassic Park though, read it at least twice, if not three times. I will say that maybe this movie might actually be better as a rental, since I like my sound system at home.  It wouldn't help with the plot originality, though. Superman (2025): I thought the special effects and plot were pretty good.  Eve's character was a little silly, but oh well.   But, I'm also ok with this portrayal of Lex Luthor.   There is a plot hole about how he appears to understand Kryptonian language and others don't.  Or about how quickly they believe him. But oh well, it's supposed to be a movie that's fairly easy to grasp. The Naked Gun (1988): I'd seen it once in 2013. ....

Predator Badlands was one of the best IMO last year- very entertaining. Definitely a breath of fresh air when there are so many similar feeling movies nowadays. If you haven't watched the animated Predator: Killer of Killers- that was really good as well. They're doing a great job with the Predator movies for sure- they had a tough standard to follow after Prey (which was superb) and they did it.

Just watched Bugonia- thought it was pretty good, certainly different as well. It was kind of a prolonged episode of Twilight Zone.

Weapons and Sinners- two of the best horror movies last year. Sinners also one of the best movie period from last year. Final Destination Bloodlines was really good. It's great that they revived the series with such a good new rendition. Bring Her Back- wow that was brutal and really good. Same with Smile 2.

And yup M3gan was nice and creepy but 2.0 was disappointing- become some sort of mundane adventure movie.

I also liked M3gan more than 2.0.

Yes, Weapons kept me engaged throughout.

I don't think I had seen a Final Destination since the 2nd one. Bloodlines was really good. And I got to experience it in 4DX. All of that worked well. The plot of Bloodlines felt well developed.

Thanks, I'll add Predator: Killer Of Killers to my wishlist / watchlist.

FYI, I've been using letterboxd to rate / track what I watch. My cousin told me about it a few years ago. It also has a "wishlist" so I can add movies I want to watch, but haven't watched, yet.

Sometimes I do rewatch movies.

The Long Walk is more dystopian than horror, but is decent.

Also I'll repeat this, but Jaws in 3D, for the 50th anniversary, was great.

That's a cool site I'll have to check it out- thanks! Look forward to watching The Long Walk. I think Samsung has a 3D tv out- that's probably one of the way to watch 3D movies at home.

I'll catch up on the movies I've seen, later.

2026 Oscars Predictions:

Best Picture - Sinners, but I'd root for Sentimental Value. Not that I think Sentimental Value was groundbreaking, but I also don't think the others I've seen, deserve it, either.

Best Actress - Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I'd Kick You)

Best Actor - Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), but I'll root for Ethan Hawke, even though I haven't seen his movie Blue Moon yet.

Supporting Actress - Teyana Taylor (Sinners), but I'll root for Amy Madigan (Weapons)

Supporting Actor - Stellan Skarsgard (Sentimental Value)

Best Director - Ryan Coogler (Sinners)

International Feature - The Voice of Hind Rajab

Animated Feature Film - Kpop Demon Hunters

Best Costume Design - Frankenstein

Makeup and Hairstyling - Kokuho

Best Sound - F1

Original Song - Golden (Kpop Demon Hunters)

Visual Effects - Sinners

Good to see "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You" get nominated for something.

Bonus:

My first year watching the combined animated and live action shorts release at the theaters. Fandango said documentary shorts were supposed to be included too.

They didn't show them. The next day, I checked the description directly on the movie theater's website, and they didn't mention documentary.

That was disappointing, because I had wanted to see all three categories.

Animated Shorts - Butterfly wins, with a chance for Forevergreen. I'd pick Retirement Plan myself.

Live Action Shorts - Jane Austen's Period Drama. Butcher's Stain and A Friend Of Dorothy were good too.

I usually like the opening montage.

This time, they interjected Conan O'Brien into a lot of scenes from the Best Picture nominees. Including kids chasing him live on stage.

This is one of the best openings I've seen.

However, then they didn't get to the first category until 19 minutes in. That's too long.

Jokes:

 • The F1 joke about being caps lock was simple but funny.

 • Airing the Oscars on YouTube was the funniest one.

 • So was the split screen cell phone with a video game on the right side, to attract younger viewers.

 • Playing the walk off music right when the guy who won Original Song for Kpop Demon Hunters was speaking, was disgraceful. I know they're trying to stay within a certain time, but how about less jokes, and more time for the winners?

 • Cutting off one of the winners (there were two) for best live action short was also disgraceful.

Ok, no one was expecting a tie. But that's live television for you. If there's two winners, let them have their moment.

Get rid of the excessive amount of jokes. Like I said, 19 minutes before the first category, at the beginning of the show.

One Battle After Another: Decent, but didn't see anything new from an acting or plot perspective that we haven't seen before. Sisu:  Road To Revenge: I didn't know until right now when I typed this that I watched the 2nd Sisu movie.  I didn't know there was a first. Didn't like the directing, there long scenes of just focusing on faces, without much dialog.  But, now that I know this is a 2nd movie, maybe plot wise if I watch the first, I'll like the 2nd more. The Thing With Feathers: Good movie about this subject. Roofman: I like movies based on true stories.  But somehow this felt limiting. The Intern: Barring one quick scene, good movie to watch with a mixed group of people. Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets: Never read a book or seen any movie.  I'm not that into fantasy.  It was ok. Bring Her Back: Horror but with funny awkward scenes.  Good movie. We Bury The Dead: Not quite horror like it said it would be.  More like a mystery / suspense movie  But it kept me engaged throughout. The Dutchman: Good acting.  But the movie overall was decent, not better.  It's interesting how it was based on a real 1964 play, and they make direct visible references to that. Avatar:  Fire And Ash: Didn't want to see it, but changed my mind at the last second and saw it.  Better than the 2nd, but still not something you have to see. The Plague: One of the most realistic movies about adolescents I've seen.  Great acting by them. The Roses: Funny movie. Dead Man's Wire: Interesting movie about a real life event.  Good directing. H Is For Hawk (2025): Pretty good movie. The Lobster: A movie that seems weird for a while, but then when you get what's going on, appreciate the humor. Send Help: Good psychological thriller. Room 237:   Good documentary about The Shining. The Revenant: A movie with some gross scenes.  But more original plot and better acting,....

Silence Of The Lambs is being re-released in theaters on April 26 and April 29.

I watched it once on DVD 2001. So it will be good, and almost like seeing it for the first time, in theaters, for me.

I'm with you on One Battle After Another- not sure why it won the oscars. I mean it was pretty good- probably a 7 out of 10 for me but unsure why such acclaim. Thought the new Avatar was very entertaining, though the story is a bit of a rehash.

Really looking forward to Backrooms, Exit 7, and Hokum. Will probably subscribe to AMC+ for a month soon to watch Whistle.
