Who knows when or if this will ever happen, but I really wanted Bill Walton to see the
Clippers win their first title.
What a tremendous life he lived. Bill Walton will forever be one of the most 1 of 1 people in
human history.
Rest in peace

I always liked Mike Smith as a color commentator but it was almost impossible for him
to fill the shoes that he was replacing. Ralph and Bill had some of the best chemistry
that you'll ever see between a play by play guy and color guy
Throw it down in heaven big man, throw it down!

I liked Mike Smith too.
I remember Walton more with ESPN now than I do with the Clippers.
Bill Walton was even with the Kings for a year or two.
Wiki says Bill Walton was also with NBC. I don't remember that.

I don't remember if this was a joke or not, but there might have been an incident where
Walton said "shoot the 3, little man, shoot the 3".
But if it happened, it may have just been once. I don't remember too
clearly.

I remember Walton on NBC from the early 90's. They got the NBA contract in time for the
1990-91 season and I remember Walton and Peter Vecsey as studio analysts always
bantering back and forth from as early as 92-93
I remember Walton doing a Kings game once when Ray Allen was on the visiting team, most
likely the Celtics before he left for the Heat and Walton compared him to the water
that flows through the Sierra mountains which worked given how close Sacramento is
to the Sierras

Wow, good analogy.
I didn't start following the NBA until 1994 - 1995, so that might be why I missed out on
Walton on NBC.

Was Jim Gray also on the broadcast that day?
Just wondering, because someone online said it was like the Kings were trying to bring
back NBC, with Walton and Gray.
Wait, maybe I remember Walton a little on NBC. That comment reminded me of the quasi NBC
crew that person thought the Kings were doing.
Because I understood the comment when I read it.

Come to think of it, that may have been his first year not on NBC. I remember them
referring to the studio show as Hannah, Isaiah and Peter meaning Hannah Storm,
Isaiah Thomas and Peter Vecsey but that wasn't until Isaiah stepped down as the
Toronto GM during the '97-'98 season so there was someone else during that period
after Walton left and Isaiah showed up but can't quite remember
After the lockout, they had Kevin
Johnson....

Not sure about that day in particular but I do remember him as the main sideline reporter
for NBC during it's 12 year run with the NBA
Not surprised that the Kings had interest in him. I remember at the beginning of the
2006-2007 season, he did in interview with the Maloofs after measures Q & R
failed. That was the ballot measure aimed at building a downtown arena for the
Kings. After the interview, he gave a post game report about how ownership and the
city would proceed and he seemed pretty passionate about seeing the Kings stay in
Sacramento. Of course, it would be 10 years before they would actually tip off at
Golden 1 Center and with a different ownership group but I guess better late than
never

Wow, I don't remember Jim Gray commenting about the Kings arena situation in 2006-2007.
Good info.

RIP Bill Walton.
I only knew him as a broadcaster and Luke Walton's dad. But apparently he was a beast in
his day.
RIP to Bill Walton, but on a more personal note, RIP to my grandma. We would watch Clipper
and football games together, she was most active cheering for us during the
EB42/CM50 and Lob City years, and she loved Quentin Richardson, Corey Maggette and
Deandre Jordan the most.

Condolences to you and your family. Prayers up to your grandma. The time spent with my
grandmother watching football on Sundays was pivotal in me becoming a football
coach. I think that's awesome you were able to share those times, and it's even
cooler that she's a Clipper fan. Super unique!
Appreciate the kind words and prayers very much. I may have forced her to be a Clipper fan, I would
just always have the game on when I went to visit her. She picked up on the colors and
got familiar with the faces of our players.
