Free Agents Ideas for Clippers

It sounds like the starters smoke but we are weak on the bench. C and PF are OK but we have PG--BK 0 offense: Mobley or Eric SG; and 0000 at SF. After a 3rd rethink, Q won't work because he has 0 offense. We have some change left but we need a strong SF or swing man no matter what it takes or we're screwing ourselves. (don't you miss Corey?)

Well we have Jordan and TT for C/PF (both) not sure we have a back-up SF. SG mobley or Gordon. PG Knight and Taylor.

We just need some at SF or someone who can play both SG/SF.

Vujacic sounds like a good fit- the guy can even play the point. But the Lakers will likely match the offer we give him though. Of course there's Azubuike, Q Ross, Matt Barnes, Livingston, Ryan Gomes, Carlos Defino, JR Smith....

Matt Barnes is instant offense, Azibuike has talent and can really shoot the ball. Q, well he pretty much only plays defense, so he'd be a good option IF we can get some other scoring help. Delfino would be good to have and JR Smith is probably more trouble than he's worth if he's gonna be a backup. I dont know enough about Gomes and who knows about Livingston's return.

i like azubuike or barnes...cuz they both played with boom dizzle...so that will help out alot

Ryan Gomes would be great. He's like an undersized 4 with speed. I would bet the TWolves own't match now that they have KLove.

Gomes is a great fit. JR Smith is lights out when he gets hot. Barnes is another hustle & flow guy. Can't lose with any of these guys.

If my calculations are correct, we have approx. 4 million left plus the MLE. That's still about 9 + million left to fill out the roster. NOT BAD!!!!!!!

Barnes should be at max MLE

sounds a bit steep, toohip. But maybe...

Hell, it's no time to cheap out.

^^I'd like to think he'd go for like $2 mil/year or less.

No, I'm not sniffing glue but the wine.... What about D. Miles? How's his knee? Maybe he's learned he ain't the best. Would he come off the bench? Will we bang our heads again?

I think its over for DMiles. Unless he comes for the Min., he shouldn't be considered. And even then...

matt barnes is not worth the full mle or anything near that....maybe $3 mil a year but thats it!...

How about Bringing Eddie House back? Un-re FA and a great outside shot

Who else is out there to stretch the D?

boston will prob keep him

We have some 3 point threats.

Thornton

Baron

Mobley

Tim Thomas

Gordon

good post D-League...WE NEED THREES!!! i happened to have Coach D's e-mail and last year or so I e-mailed him saying we need threes and should go after the likes of jumaine jones or somebody...he never e-mails back..LOL...but i know it's his e-mail, since i type the e-mail addy, and his full name pops up on my outlook when I receive a "read receipt" hehehe

But yes, we need 3's!! we are very well rounded now, but adding a "sharp" shooter to compliment our avg. to maybe slightly above avg 3pt shooting is a must...clips have been like bottom 5 in 3's in the last several years, including the year we took the suns to 7 games....where raja hit that THREE and that was all she wrote...makes me sick...GET SOME THREES PLEASE....SASHA VUJACIC..LET'S GO!

Here's the list, per espn.com....let's see who will fit in our $3M range...we need THREES....who do you guys like?? Group I: Restricted free agents Only six first-round draft picks from the 2004 draft were signed to extensions last fall. That means some serious young talent is available this summer. These players' restricted status makes it likely they'll stay with their current teams, but at least they'll be in play: Smith1. Josh Smith, Hawks: Smith has been the hottest restricted free agent, drawing interest from the Sixers, Clippers and Warriors. He's a freakish athlete who can score, rebound and block shots. What holds him....

The name that jumps out at me is RICKY DAVIS!! they have him pegged as a MLE to below MLE level player, based on history...we all know Ricky torches the Clips...can we get him??

Here is my filtered list from my previous Topic Post, where I wanted to see who were available as RFAs that we should consider going after to solidfy our bench:

  1. Ricky Davis: he hasn't been mentioned yet, but he torches us all the time...a new fresh team/atmosphere just might motivate him, and we might be able to afford him...

  2. Sasha Vujacic: like I said, we need THREES....the rest of our areas are pretty well rounded, except for 3's and could use a lil more scoring...this would cripple the Lakers if we could get him....

  3. Delonte West: he can play both guard positions, plays defense, and can hit the 3-ball...but not a sharp shooter....nice talent, and would be one of the top guards in the NBA that comes off the bench...

  4. Kelenna Azubuike: Coach D love's this guy...can't hit the 3-ball that well, but can hit it decent at times...athletic and scores ok...great bench player

  5. Carlos Delfino: hated him on pistons...looked better on raptors...3-ball is better now...would help our bench and 3's also...

  6. Michael Finley: why not...hits 3's, good scorer, veteran leadership...would be a nice pick-up as well

I really feel these are the types we should be looking at now....did I miss anyone??

Kelenna Azubuike

im with Zu too

If we get Ricky Davis, we'll have 3 sg's that will want to play: Cat, Gordon, and Ricky. I say go for a backup SF.

ricky is 6'7" and can play SF...he was the SF for the Cavs when he had a couple of career years.....

Ricky is a bad seed.

I know...I'm not a big fan of Ricky, but potential is so great...we could always bury him at the bench, like Miami did, if he acts up, but he could be real good too, with the change of scenerry...plus, he seems to be relatively cheap....

Sasha would be nice, aside from Davis and Gordan a little extra 3 point shooter would'nt hurt, but I don't know if the Lakes are going to try and sign him( or whatever)

Ricky Davis, I think he'd fit nicely with the clips, IF we could get him though.

I like delonte west as well, but Michael Finlay would also help Gordan( maybe even thortan)

mature in terms of skill so who knows.

damn...thers a lot to choose from but i still like.....one of the smiths.....or azubuike....haha cuz he has chemistry with boomdizzle plus...if you watched the warriors at the end of the season last year...he was doing well

I think Delfino has already signed for Khimki, a team from Russia.

Olympiakos, the Greek team where plays Sofo, is said to be interested in Ricky Davis to replace former Knick Qyntel Woods

My list (in no particular order):

Eddie House!

Matt Barnes!

Josh Childress!

Barbossa! Did you guys forget about this guy? He is apparently on the trade block, and remember that potential deal we had to get him. He would be a great sixth man, instant offense, and somewhat can run the point. I like him a lot and think he would fit great with our team. I don't know if you guys read that article about Phoenix interested in Shaun, but we could do a sign and trade with them for Barbossa. Where we can take on more salary, and give a cheaper Shaun to Phoenix. Phoenix would save money by unloading Barbossa's salary and get the backup PG that they covet. We can also throw in another player if necessary, or possibly a second rounder. I don't know if that would be enough, but with so many teams looking to shed salary, it could be possible.

As far as Ricky Davis goes, like Ether said, he is a bad seed! Every team that gets him thinks the same thing: he has potential and can be great, maybe a new environment will change him. --- Well it hasn't so far, and it won't. We don't need him jacking up shots and messing up our flow and rhythm.

Also, D. Miles is intriguing. I heard he worked out for a team last week and did pretty well. I would just love to have the guy back regardless of whether or not he plays.

Azubuike and Gomes are both guys I like, but also both seem likely to draw matching offers from their current teams. What about Jarvis Hayes? He can play the two or three, and he's solid from three point range. Two guys I hope we steer clear of are JR Smith and Ricky Davis. Both are cut from the same cloth... it's a really nice pattern but the seams are all f**ked up or something. Loose cannons, both of them. Talented but... I don't know, it's one of those "add them at your peril" deals. Look, when guys are as gifted, as talented as they are, and you can throw Artest in there too, yet they can't seem to stick with a team for more than a year or two it's a RED FLAG! PLEASE let us avoid the red flags! All that "might" be able to motivate him stuff... WHY the hell should you have to wonder if you can motivate a guy you're paying millions of dollars to? WTF? Let those guys be someone else's headache. Eventually it seems they always turn out to be just that. It makes you appreciate players like Gomes that much more... or should.

Jarvis Hayes has already signed for the Nets along Najera...I really think he could have helped us a lot

Ach! Thanks Miquel, I missed the Hayes signing, sorry about that. Hmmm... ok here's an idea that's out there. How about JJ Redick? He's nothing but a bench guy at Orlando, and a DEEP bench guy at that, SVG and he just don't seem to hit it off, but we KNOW he can shoot. Or... Keyon Dooling? He's obviously unhappy with their (Orlando's) initial offer, maybe he'd appreciate a change of venue?

lakers only offered vujacic 2.6 mil... hmmm i wonder if we offer him 12 mil for 3 yrs.. would he accept it

On PTI right now wilbon said clips offered iggy a contract but philly will likely match it, but i cant find that anywhere else. Has anyone heard anything?

What about Michael Finley? He's an unrestricted free agent. But it seems like he's more interested in being on the Spurs than anything else.

We have money left to get Iggy? That would be sweet!

I say no to Ricky Davis, JR Smith, Sasha. I don't really think we need anymore three's. Were not a team built around the three and Baron, TT, Gordon, and Al will take enough per game already.

We don't have money to sign iggy...

DWB. they should be able to pick up Reddick soon. Orlando will most likely release him. He's now 3 or 4 on the depth chart at SG. He's just about gone.

We got 2 mil. I read that on L.A. Times.com We don't have much money left or options for that matter. It would have be someone willing to make the minimum salary.

Not much to say about J.J.

Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG

07-08 ORL 34 0 8.1 0.444 0.395 0.794 0.0 0.6 0.7 0.5 0.1 0.0 0.44 0.90 4.1

Career 76 0 11.8 0.422 0.390 0.862 0.1 0.8 1.0 0.7 0.2 0.0 0.47 1.10 5.2

those are his stats. He's been burried deep on their bench. If he stays they might burry his career.

Its really three if we lose a couple more players on roster but not signed might be more

With $2m in cap space, we can absorb Redick's contract through trade (I haven't read anything of the Magic buying him out, though stranger things have happened). He could be worth a chance. If he doesn't work out, we could just let him walk at the end of the season. Not my first choice, but perhaps worth considering. A veteran 2/3 would be better.

i think we need to sign a scorer at the 2-3, a good swingman off the bench who can shoot. i don't know exactly who, but that spot needs to be filled. i heard michael wilbon on pti talkin about gettin iggy still, but that doesnt seem to make sense since we got camby.

also, what bothers me is that we offered marcus williams a contract over ross, taylor a contract over livingston, and i think we also gave fazekas one over josh powell. livingston, powell, ross and another pickup would make our bench better than one that consists of nick fazekas.

lets get childress with our mid level-that would make us one of the best defensive teams in the league..and then with whatever we got left we need a proven scorer. we will have offense and a greattt defensive team

i dont know who likes this but why not send knight over to orlando for reddick

Brevin is the only veteran PG we have off the bench. He was pretty bad last year, but he should perform a lot better as a backup.

im all for getting childress
