American League

Cleveland Guardians vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Guardians in 2.

This will be a well pitched series but I like the Guardians offense more. Kwan will make a good contribution.

Seattle Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Mariners in 3. (Toronto wins game 1)

Robbie Ray will beat his former team.

National League

San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets

Mets in 2.

The Mets have it all.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. St. Louis Cardinals

St. Louis in 2.

The Phillies have a really good offense. I think St. Louis finds a way to win.

National League:

Philadelphia vs. Atlanta:

There will probably be a lot of runs scored every game. Wouldn't surprise me if this went 5.

Atlanta in 4 (Philadelphia wins game 1)

San Diego vs. Los Angeles:

The head to head for the season was bad for San Diego.

Los Angeles in 3.

American League:

Seattle vs. Houston:

Houston seems to be a contender every year, even if they lose a few pieces.

I'll make a BOLD prediction and say Seattle wins this.

Seattle in 4 (Houston wins game 3)

Cleveland vs. New York:

New York just seems better.

New York in 3.

Tough loss for the Blue Crew last night. Kind of a must-win now in game 3. Gotta be more clutch with runners in scoring position.

With the head to head in favor of the Blue Crew as it is, I would say it's not a must win unless they are down two losses.

If it was a team they struggled with, or an opposing pitcher they routinely struggled with, then I would say it's more like a must win.

Also I think that goose was injured. That's what the broadcasters thought.

For sure- though I think mentally it'd be really tough as there'd be immense pressure if the Dodgers were to lose game 3. Pressure that might be too much, but we'll see.

Yeah that was interesting they just left the goose in there and played on. I mean what if a player tripped on the poor goose while trying to make a play, but hopefully mr. goose is doing better now.

They should have stopped play and escorted the goose off the field.

What would have happened if there was a line drive at the goose? Not sure how a fielder would have reacted, and can't really blame a fielder either way, because he shouldn't be put in a position to have to decide whether to field a ball or not, because of a goose on the field.

I tend to think teams that have had success, like the Dodgers, can handle pressure.

Although, sometimes some young teams that have never experienced it before, handle it well too. You never know.

This series definitely puts more of a spotlight on Dave Roberts' decisions, than it would have been had the Dodgers had a 2-0 lead.

Well, it's now a literal must-win. The futility with runners in scoring position can only add to the mental struggles. Let's see if Dave Roberts can loosen up the team and get them to play relaxed. Guys need to get on base and make things happen. That one caught-stealing by Betts shouldn't destroy the confidence to keep running. Pitching has been solid- but a spectacular performance might be needed by Anderson & the bullpen.

The Dodgers have come back from series a lot, the past few years.

Even looking at 2016, for example, they trailed the Nationals 2-1. So far, that series has played out the same way, with the Dodgers winning game 1 and losing the next two, in both cases.

The offense seems to be struggling with fast balls, more than expected. Usually I thought they were good at that.

Ugh- what a rough night. First USC loses in a raucous environment thanks in part by awful roughing the passer calls. Then the Dodgers blow a 3 run lead and get eliminated with a very similar crowd like the Utah game. Dodgers- bases loaded, nobody out, and you get one lousy run. And the overused bullpen just finally collapsed. Kind of puzzled why Anderson wasn't let in for another inning or two.

Sadly, the successful era of Justin Turner, Chris Taylor & Cody Bellinger pretty much over. CT3 still has 3 years left in the contract which now looks like a bad deal for the Dodgers.

So much for that Dave Roberts championship guarantee.

A little surprised at the USC vs. Utah game.

I've often wished the Dodgers starters would go longer than 5 innings, going back to a few years.

I think they could, but they seem to get pulled sooner than I would.

But, there were other factors, as you pointed out. They did have a 3 run lead.

And the bases loaded situation, with 1 run scoring, looms larger, for not getting more runs.

Exactly- there are many arms in the bullpen, but sometimes you gotta go by feel. Anderson was pitching great, so why yank him so early. And yeah the offense just got outclassed, especially the bottom of the order. In a short playoff series like this- the Padres bullpen got hot, Dodgers offense came up empty in clutch situations, and just like that, a historic season ends with a meager 3-1 series loss in what was Dodger's first round.

Thinking about it, I don't think they're going to change their SP philosophy, and let more starters pitch past 5 IP.

They've been doing it for so long, that they believe in it. I don't think they'll react to this series.

Also, thinking about Bellinger, if he leaves, what are other notable players that the Dodgers didn't re-sign?

Off the top of my head, in this recent era, I'm coming up with Zach Greinke (2015), Yu Darvish (2017), Manny Machado (2018), Kenley Jansen (2021).

Do you think Kimbrel should have been on the NLDS roster?

Yeah as long as Roberts is the manager that might not change- not to say he's doing a bad job. But I think he's smart enough to not be so stubborn, but we'll see.

I think a Joc Pederson would've helped a lot this series. Trayce Thompson is not exactly someone you want to keep marching out there like a everyday player. Kind of puzzled actually that Bellinger didn't start game 4 over him. Wouldn't have minded seeing Miguel Vargas gotten a chance. In hindsight, someone like James Outman should've made the roster.

And yeah should've re-signed Jensen, but there were many pleasant surprise relievers that it really didn't hurt too much. I was surprised that Kimbrel wasn't on the roster, but I'm not sure if he would've made a big difference either.

Evan Phillips was lights-out. That was stupid to not have him pitch in the 7th.

Good points about Joc Pederson and Evan Philips.

Yeah Trayce is not an everyday player.

Philadelphia vs. San Diego:

I like San Diego's pitching more.

MVP: Hader

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros:

I don't like Houston's pitching. Just don't like their style.

Houston in 5 (probably 6, but I'll say 5):

MVP: I want to go pitcher, but I'll say Altuve.

They cheated all year, not just against the Dodgers.

If the Yankees or Red Sox had made it to the WS, then that series would have had to be played to determine the winner.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Houston Astros:

I don't like either team's pitching that much. Houston has the best overall pitcher with Verlander.

Phillies offense seems better.

But, it would be weird for the Astros to lose 3 World Series in 4 years.

Just taking a guess.

MVP: I'll keep sticking with Altuve, lol. Verlander if pitcher.

Taco Bell Base Stealer: Segura, or McCormick from Astros

Chevy MVP Vehicle: Last year was a Corvette, so I'm thinking a truck this year. Or SUV. How about the Chevy Blazer?

I ordered the Departed Soles Trash Can Banger IPA on Sunday. I don't know if it will get here in time for any of the games. I was hoping it would.

I don't even have an estimated delivery date.

What's the update? Did you get it in time? And if so, have you watched yet?

Still no update on the tracking at all since last Wednesday 10/26. I've now called the online store 4x in the past 8 days. They said the shipping carrier they use doesn't post "live" tracking updates. After it is scanned, someone has to manually upload the tracking.' They said once it gets to within California, there should be more updates. The most frustrating thing is that the tracking makes it look like it's in two places at the same time: Wednesday, October 26, 2022 11:41 AM Northeast Gateway Wednesday, October 26, 2022 11:41 AM Southwest, US And it's so vague. What the hell is "Southwest, US"? Give me a city and state, or a zip code. Is it in New Orleans, Louisiana? Austin, TX? Also, I did think about the possibility that since those are local times, perhaps it traveled from the northeast to the southwest, and the scans were uploaded at exactly the same time. So maybe it was scanned on the east coast at 11:41 AM, then it traveled to the southwest in 59 minutes, then took one minute to upload the scan. Because it went backwards in time, this could have been possible. However, the geographic distance between the east coast, and southwest, is too great to travel within 59 minutes. They did send me two tracking numbers. One GLS tracking number, early Wednesday morning. That one doesn't even say anything beyond "SHIPMENT DATA RECEIVED - PENDING GLS RECEIPT SCAN". Then later Wednesday evening, another tracking number, which I guess is internal. That's the one I posted above about the Northeast gateway, and Southwest. I did get a break with the rain delay yesterday. So now I have a greater chance of receiving it before game 6 or game 7, if the series goes that long. This whole shipping thing is....

So my recent experience with GLS is that the updates are very sparse.

I ordered some tennis racquets. I saw the scan data received, with no location.

Then 11pm the night before it was to be delivered, they said it would be delivered tomorrow. I had no idea it was even that close, since the first line just said scan data received. It basically went from the first location scan, to delivered, in 10 hours. (From 11pm to 9 am).
