French Open 2020. Cold Weather Clay?
Clippers Forum » Everything ElseNadal seems vulnerable- he lost to Schwartzman in straight sets the other day. I hope he can do it, however. Murray looked really bad vs Wawrinka who just blew him off the court. Stan might be able to go far.
Gauff had a nice win today over Konta- I think she can make it to QF vs Halep. That would be a nice match.
Murray couldn't make a first serve early on.
I'm glad to see him back though, and hopefully he can get better again.
Yes, nice win by Gauff, she controlled the match.
Swiatek has been a big surprise- really impressed with her play. She just got into the doubles semi as well. Don't remember when the last time a player reach the semis of a major in both doubles and singles- probably Serena and/or Venus.
What an epic match that was between Thiem and Schwartzman. I thought Thiem was going to pull through in the 4th, but once he lost that he looked a bit mentally drained while Diego just kept up the pressure. Now Schwartzman vs Djokovic- that has the potential for another long, epic battle.

I thought the same thing about that Thiem vs. Schwartzman match! I too thought Thiem was going to win in 4, and then didn't know how he lost in 5.
I haven't been able to watch Swiatek yet. Looking at her box scores, she is blowing everyone out in the sets she wins. Wow.
I haven't been able to watch a full match since the first day, due to all of the MLB and NBA games also being on.
But now that the SFs are here, I need to make some time for full matches. Since the players who are playing the best, will be facing off.
I'm rooting for Kvitova on the Womens side. Outside of Serena, Sharapova, Halep, and Henin, I don't think anyone else has won both the French and Wimbledon, on the Womens side, this century. Kvitova could do it if she wins the French.
I would have rooted for Clijsters to finally win the French, but she didn't play this year.
I watched a little bit of Swiatek. She is fun to watch.
I'll root for her.
Wish Kvitova could have played better against Kenin.
I like the personalities of both women in the Finals. They are very confident.
Too bad Swiatek couldn't win her doubles, would have been cool to see a singles and doubles champion.
I'm not sure what makes Swiatek have these dominating set scores.
Congrats to her.
It was cool to see Kenin hit drop shot return winners, in the SFs and Finals. I can't remember if I've seen a player do that before, or I don't remember the last time I saw that.
Swiatek just takes the ball so early, with powerful cross-court forehands and backhands. Mentally so focused and strong- and it seems to help that she actually has a sports psychologist who travels who her. Look forward to seeing how she does in future grand slams. Because Kenin had handled the blistering groundies by Kivitova I thought she had a good chance vs Swiatek, but nope.
Nadal just absolutely dismantled Djokovic who was something like 35-0 this year if you didn't count that DQ. Rafa is not only the King of Clay, but IMO he's the King of Tennis, period, lol.
Yes, Swiatek does take the ball early. She was making errors early on though, so I thought Kenin had an opportunity there.
Djokovic almost had the worst loss anyone has had in the Finals, against Nadal. It's arguable that it was the worst loss.
Most other opponents can stay with Nadal a little while in the first set, before getting worn down.
This was the opposite. Djokovic was never in it, until late in the 3rd, when it seemed too late anyways. So in that sense, given how long it took Djokovic to actually win a few games in a set, it was worse.
The broadcasters said that Swiatek's sports psychologist traveled with her during a vacation too. That person seems as involved in Swiatek's life, as a trainer or head coach would be.
