M.L.B 2020 Season.

My biggest complaint so far is there is too much talking from the broadcasters.

Normally there's other sounds to balance it out.

But at this point, I just want to hear the sounds of the game.

Also, seeing the cardboard cutouts for the first time, I don't like it. I'd rather they just have cutouts of the players / personnel's kids / grandkids / nieces / nephews. Kids are fun to look at in cutout form. Adults, no.

Kershaw was scratched today because of back issues. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Mike Trout also says he plans to play. He was undecided, earlier, during this quarantine.

Side Note: I think some of these thread title rules are too strict. It said "M.L.B. 2020" was not a valid thread title, because it was in all caps. To me, it was a good thread title.

Dustin May threw a great 2-seamer early in the game. Tailed right back over the plate for a strike.

@david, do you think the Dodgers should focus more on the bullpen, with player acquisitions?

Nuraman00- I think the Dodgers are thin on starting pitching right now. Hopefully Kershaw & Buheler will be ready sooner than later. The offense and bullpen are looking fine thus far. What do you think?

Agree, offense is good.

Agree, starting pitching is thin, and also there's a lot of differences from last year.

However, the trend the past several years, is for more bullpen usage.

In 2017, league wide bullpen usage was 38% of innings, and it was 45.6% in the playoffs. I don't have the data in front of me, but I'm pretty sure the numbers went up in 2018 and 2019.

And, the Dodgers are believers in not letting a lot of starting pitchers face the lineup a 3rd time, so they do things to support the trend.

So, with the way the game is played the last several years, I'd like to really have a reliable set of 3 almost everyday relievers. I guess that would be Baez, Kolorek, and I don't know?

The bullpen does look better so far this year. I'm still also trying to figure out who has what role for some of the guys.

Yeah MLB's covid-19 plan certainly doesn't hold a candle to how stringent the NBA is.

BTW it was nice to see the Dodgers beat the ASStros! Dodger bullpen is much more effective when the opponent doesn't know what's coming.

Was fun watching Joe Kelly go off Very Happy

I haven't been following the Dodgers super-close lately, but I'm glad to see them kicking butt! They're just beating each team pretty badly just about every game. This is even with Bellinger, Muncy & Joc batting just around .200. Mookie leading the way and the pitching staff has been stellar.

Agree. In a season this short, a lead like this in the standings feels even bigger.
