Chris Paul Rib Muscle Strain Injury News/Status Update

Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General Discussions

Chris Paul strained his left rib muscle in the third quarter of the game versus the Blazers. He did not return to the game, indicating the seriousness of the injury. Hopefully CP3 will not be out of the lineup for long, but it appears that he will likely miss at least a game or two. Post post updates on his status on this thread.

Very bad timing, really tough Pacer team rolling into town on Wednesday. PG has been in beast mode. Going to be very rough without Chris.

Seems like a minimum of 2 weeks.

Glad we're not playing tomorrow night. He's had a rough start with so many injuries. Hands on therapy and A good rest will do him good.

So.... just a thought....

PG: Lance Stephenson

SG: JJ

SF: Luc (very impressed with how he's been playing)

PF:Blake

C Very HappyJ .....

Lance is out there making some amazing passes... people just could not finish tonight. dude is a str8 up playmaker.

^ I'm with you there, Lance to start at PG for me too.

Chances of that happening with Doc - 0.00732875498%

I like the idea of Lance starting. His passing was really nice and he was always aggressive with pushing the basketball.

Lmao .... 0.00732875498% I like that. Obviously he's going to have his son start. I do not think that would be the best idea.

I say start Lance... George Hill or Monta Ellis for Lance to guard... then JJ can just get the other guy... Obviously put Luc on Paul George.... Unless you want to put Lance on him Smile

Start Prigioni and keep Austin coming off the bench

Did you hear Doc in postgame interview? He honestly is pushing Austin in the PG role and everybody know he's not. Austin will be starting as the PG. I just wish he'd recognize the right positions to set his players in for success, like Josh is no Center? He's forcing his players in roles that are not comparable and continues to do it. He's recalled Wilcox and Dawson from D league so wondering what's Doc's thought regarding those two, probably as trade bait.

I understand if Doc push his son to play PG. I guess he want Austin to get a bigger contract after here. And he won't get enough time if he will play under different coach. That's why I was not surprise last night, that even in the garbage time Austin still balling instead of Prigioni.

The best thing for the careers of Wilcox and Dawson would be to be traded. Doc will never give these 2 guys a chance no matter how good they are. At least they would be given a chance to play somewhere else. Makes me wonder why in the heck did Doc re-up Wilcox, and spend $600,000 to get Dawson if he knows they are never going to get a chance to play unless it is in the last 2 minutes of a blowout. And the Clips have not blown anyone out.

I'm telling you (said it in the game thread last night), Doc is straight shilling for his son. He makes sure to say how great his son played in the last few post game interviews. If he were on any other team, I'd bet he'd be on the bench most of the time. I seriously wonder if any players have resentment towards Doc by now.

I think this is what angers me as well. Doc was in love with shooting guards for his first few years, and it was evidence through drafting Bullock then Wilcox in consecutive years. If that wasn't bad enough he trades away Bullock and never plays Wilcox. What's the point of drafting if you don't develop these players? And as you pointed out, he spent $600,000 of the teams money on a player he refuses to play. Ideally, I would love these kids to develop and find a role here, but as you said Doc refuses to give them a shot for some reason. My fear is that if we keep this pattern up we are not going to offset the againg of this team. Doc is making a huge mistake by not slowly integrating these young players into the rotation.

CP has had a tough start in terms of injuries this season after going for all 82 games last season

Man, this seems the lesser of two evils as it relates to the previous diagnosis. Let CP get completely healthy before he gets back on the court.

Yup, way better prognosis thank God! Clippers are only a game out of 3 seed. Sadly I don't see them catching the Spurs or Warriors with a 10 game lead or whatever, even this early. Almost all NBA champions historically are the 1 or 2 seed (like 94 percent I believe).

Well, there is some hope...since 2000, 4 teams seeded 3 won the championship. There is a chance.Smile

I believe this is better than a rib muscle strain - could be recurring, but shorter recovery times.

I'm not a doctor, but I don't see any difference between a strain and inflammation. Seems like the same thing to me.

Yes we're all very concerned about Chris Paul's rib injury (thread topic), and we're all glad to hear that you are too ! SMH

In my computer like mind that's 20% so not too bad at all.

Actually, as long as it isn't a knee or an ankle, CP3 could stay out for a month as far as I am concerned. Let him rest his other minor issues, like his hand. Then he would be well rested after doing a "Sabbatical Mini-Pop."

The more rested we are for the post season, the better.

I'd start Lance in CP3's place, and failing that it would be Prigioni.

I'm guessing the coach will start Rivers Jr .

Glad to hear CP's injury is not as serious as initially thought. Players might step up their game and get some Wins while he's out.

I honestly hope Chris will stay out for a while(2-4 games). He has a history of rushing back and then getting injured again. I understand that he is a fierce competitor and all that, but him getting hit by a more serious injury won't do the team any good. Heal up completely before you get back. It's not like it's game 7 in the playoffs.
