2014 Draft Class Overrated?

Clippers Forum » NBA Basketball Talk

Am I the only one that thinks this class is overrated? Maybe Parker will be impactful right away, but wiggins looks like he needs another year of college. Embiid? Aaron Gordon? Exum? I just don't see it.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of folks talking big about guys before they've stepped one foot on the college court. I haven't been all that impressed so far.

I really hope this Draft is deep like the '09 Draft. The '09 Draft was stock piled with PG's. This year is more evenly distributed for every position.

We will most likely get a pick in the 20's. We could get a serviceable big man rookie/future starter. Obviously the best big man is Randle and is very similar to Zach Randolph with more athleticism, I'd love to trade up for him but what do we have to offer? Nothing

I think Willie Cauley-Stein will slip because of his raw talent and lack of muscle kinda like how we got DJ. Don't know if he'll fall into our lap but he's who I have my eye on.

I don't think it's overrated. Some of these guys won't become stars right away, but it looks like there's a lot of potential there. You got Parker, Wiggins, Randle, Smart, and possibly Rodney Hood?

Ok.

That's already more talent than this past year's draft.

I agree with your last statement for sure. However, it is getting annoying that the fans of tanking teams speak as if a high draft pick in this class is a sure savior for a quick turnaround. I don't see any Lebrons or Durant. Embiid has promise for sure, but I don't see a for sure rookie all star.

I think it is expected out of first overall picks. Wall, Kyrie, and our very own Blake were all expected to turn franchises around. Blake had a huge part in our turnaround. Then comparing it to last years poor draft, which will get magnified with Bennett going first. It looks like if all these guys come out, then you might have 5 or 6 guys that are actually worthy of being a first overall pick.

Embiid looks like the only franchise alterer. I think Parker will be a good player but not transcendent.

Overrated, I agree. It's Laker fans who are hyping it up....

A pretty good evaluator of talent also thinks this draft is overrated. His name is Jerry West.

Overrated is to be seen a few years down the line, over-hyped? The latter definitely.
