Clipper Team Good and the Bad
Clippers Forum » Clippers Game DayWe're in the top 10 in offensive and defense ratings...#4 in off. and #7 in def. Pretty darn good so far...keep that up and we'll do just fine
^this. if we keep this up, i dont see why the clips cant be the western conference representative in the finals. i am getting ahead of myself, but its a possibility
Just curious.

To OP: I agree that the rotations are pretty shaky at times though I don't agree with the lineups you're suggesting. I also agree that Vinny should experiment a little more but I'm happy with our success so I can't really complain. I also agree that VDN needs to get better with his time out usage. I feel like when opposing teams start to get on runs we wait until they either tie or take the lead before we call a time out rather than trying to stop the bleeding before it's too late.
Our defense has been very strong this season though we did suffer from multiple lapses when we were on that 4 game losing streak. Had it not been for that streak i'm sure we'd be in the top 3 defensively.
I'd also like to see Chris Paul be more aggressive, but only in specific situations, like those moments when the team NEEDS to score in order to control the momentum. I'm sure all of us as fans can feel those moments when we're watching the game so I know CP3 can feel those moments as one of the smartest player in the league. His jump shot has been pretty off so far this season and he's shooting a career low 30% from 3 this season. On the bright side, he looks quicker than ever so I'm not too concerned about his shooting though I do expect his percentage to improve as the season goes along.
I'd also like to see more post up opportunities for DJ and Lamar who I think can be very effective from down there. They're both improving day by day and DJ is really beginning to look like an All-Star Center with some of the post moves he's developed. I know there's not enough time in the game for everybody to get the touches they deserve but I feel there are certain moments and situations where we should go into the post rather than relying too much on a JC jumpshot.
Overall we look incredible so far this season, and had it not been for that ridiculous losing streak we had, there'd be no question that we're the best team in the league.
Lamar not too effective there, his hook is not that great anymore, might get it back, DJ needs to do that more, his sweet hook boosts his confidence a lot. And after these last 4 games i believe that CP3 is very aggresive, he's just smart, I loved how he ATTACKED the rim off the pick 'n roll, cause he knew that Al couldn't catch him.
good : everything, everyone at every position
bad: half court set, gets bogged down and turns into butler time every first quarter. The offense is almost designed around blake at the high left post ft line sometimes, instead of a traditional but fading throw it in to the low post center type set, not really a problem, but it was a problem in the playoffs last year.
I dislike our half court sets, there isn't really too much movement where one can just trick his man and be left with an open shot, the most effective half court play I've seen is the drag screen, that just opens up EVERYTHING, we need more plays like that.
At times it seems we should of been the ones doing the read and react offense our team seems to play better when they don't set up and just go off instincts and chemistry reads.
I can guarantee you Lamar is a more effective post player than he is a jump shooter.
I can agree which is why he's not shooting jumpers, but his post game still sucks, that's one of those things he's gonna have to get back.
Good: We can compete with anyone if we play with effort.
Bad: We slack off too much.
