Matt Barnes a Clipper?

In this vid Matt Barnes says that he is talking with the Clippers, Mavs, and Heat. The part where he says that is around 8:55 on the vid. Not sure if this has already been discussed. If so then I guess this post should be deleted.

Please no. I hate Matt Barnes and he sucks.

Edit: I just read a twitter comment (randomn person but....) who said they talked to Matt Barnes and he said he was signing with the clippers.

If he does that means travis leslie will be cut right. Wont we have to many players

I never liked the guys attitude, but IF he does become a Clipper, he has my support

if we are willing to go after headcases we might as well of resigned KMART.

I don't know much about Matt other than getting in Kobe's face when he was in Orlando (which was embarrassing to watch when he failed to make him flinch) and trash talking the Clippers early last season. What does he do that's beneficial to the team on the court?

well i kno in his golden state days, when he was young and athletic, he was know as a good defender, and a slash, with the occasional god game shooting beyond the arc. ALL I CAN SAY IN TERMS TO CONTRIBUTIONS TO A TEAM GAME WISE< ITS BETTER THAN HAVING GOMES AS THE THIRD SMALL FORAWRD ON THE TEAM.............side note has anyone notice the clippers a getting a bunch of former lakers, 1st butler, now Odom, turiaf, and possibly barnes

Butler played for the Lakers in the 04-05 season.

Barnes is a high energy player, he always gives it his all, and is slightly a above average defender. He will be the guy that is quick to come to the rescue of any teammate that gets into a scuffle with an opposing player.

but

Barnes is a hot head, isn't that intelligent, always committing horrible fouls, and doesn't specialize in any aspect of the game. He's a average player at best.

Why are we talking about him, the only signing that might probably happen is gonna be the clippers inviting Ammo to a training camp or some other scrub to fill the final spot!

would pass on Barnes mainly because he was so adamant about trashing the clippers. Also he is always getting into trouble at the wrong times on the court, dont think he is worth the risk and the drama.

Butler was a Laker during the 04-05 season. He was brought over from the Miami Heat along with Lamar Odom and Brian Grant in the Shaq trade. During his tenure with the Lakers, he became close friends with Kobe, but was then traded to the Wizards for Kwame Brown.

Not a fan of Barnes but as a 3rd string SF I wouldn't mind actually.Defiantly acts like a a**hole sometimes but he is still a pretty good defender and can get hot from 3 from what I seen in some games.He does bring baggage with him but after all that has happened with him with the Lakers not resigning him and him getting arrested I think he will be motivated to play hard for us and he brings some toughness with us.I think if the Clippers pick him up he can help us,especially if Hill or Butler get hurt he can easily play those minutes.I wouldn't mind it if it happens but I also won't be upset if it doesn't.

The fact that's he's playing at our facility does not mean he's been signed by the team. Remember, pretty much the whole Pacers' squad spent time at our practice gym this summer, that doesn't make them Clippers.

Thanks for the info, but I'm going to wait for something more official before I believe he's been signed.

And, for the record, I wouldn't mind if we did sign him. He's a douche, but could be a solid back up player. That said, I'd rather us sign Darko than him.

There are a couple of players who played for both teams.Current players who played for both teams would be Steve Blake,Butler,Odom and Turiaf.

barnes is still a decent player, his attitude is the issue, but he produces on the court, it wouldn't matter. Second unit can run a smaller fast pace style of play

2nd unit :

bledsoe & crawford will definitely push the tempo

barnes can slash and hit open 3pts

hill can defend and hit open shots and can be the leader of the bench squad

Odom can be our big man down low, whose versatile and spreads the floor

green, 3pt sniper, whose under size but decent on defense

Ronnie turiaf, hustle man, plays defense, and gets garbage buckets

Very true but Barnes did say there is a team he's working adeal with so who knows. I think the in radio interview says a lot. There are a lot of hints going on with the biggest being when Barnes said "playing for a rival" ( paraphrasing). . The fact that the DJ was the one that mentioned the Clippers first says a lot.

So lets see. Matt Barnes has to be one of my most hated players in the history of the NBA. Especially after that interview where he talked **** about The Clippers and was talking like if he was good or Kobe or something. It is a video, an interview where it is him Luke Walton and Derek Fisher. That and he always tried to get crazy with our team and would talk **** when he sucks it is really amazing. To summarize, Matt Barnes can't shoot. During the playoffs teams would leave him WIDE OPEN and he would miss to a point where they stopped passing him the ball. For ever 3 pointer Matt Barnes makes he misses like 7. For every assist he has he has 5 stupid plays. Since he sucks and realized he bricked everything like he always has, he would try to dribble sometimes or create something so he would not have to shoot and in turn he would just commit a stupid turnover. He would overpass and turn it over, throw up an airball, or just make a dumb play because of his inability to shoot or make WIDE OPEN Shots. He is supposed to be a 3 pt shooter but he sucks at that but he is even more horrible finishing. He "Slashes" and you hold your breath when he gets near the rim because he cant even lay the ball up properly. He cant dunk. He misses layups, he misses putbacks... Matt Barnes is the type of player that sucks so bad (ala Luke Walton) that people try to overrate one particular aspect of his game just because he sucks so bad doing everything else. People that defend Matt Barnes even....

So what you're saying is... he sucks.

We know Matt Barnes, Ron Artest/Metta World Peace, Adam Morrison, and Gary McGhee.

Looks like CP3 really wants him on the team since he's recruiting him. And by the looks of it he's been looking really good in workouts.

I wouldn't mind Marty B on the team if he can be a defensive specialist and hit the occasional 3.

In other free agency news, Matt Barnes is strongly leaning toward signing with the Clippers.

Between Barnes and Morrison,I would go for Barnes for our 3rd string SF.Better all around player besides shooting obviously.I wanted Darko on the Clippers but that seems to be dead.While I am not a fan of Barnes,there is a good chance that Butler or Hill could get injured so we need someone who can play those minutes if it were to happen.

^Last year we were the Nuggets with Reggie, KMart, and Chauncey. In addition to DFish we should get "Kwahmay" Brown as Stephen A. Smith likes to call him.

I don't see he will like the mins he will get unless the Clippers are going small with the bench. Then have Green and Turiaf or Hollins as the standby guys in case we need size and more shooting. With Barnes we are full at 15 and was hoping for a younger player to learn from vets but I'll take having Barnes.

Good move by the Clips....I wanted Barnes for a while now. Tough competitor and good defender/rebounder. He knows his role. Seems to have gotten better with age. Excellent bang for the buck...Goodbye Leslie, Hello Matt.

Think the Clips would be better served signing a 3rd string sf who can light it up from 3. I would like to see them wait to see who might be available when teams make cuts.

Great addition to Clippers. We need defensive minded players who will happily deliver flagrant fouls to teams who rough up Griffin. I'd be glad to have him as the 3rd SF off the bench for minimum. Adds some grit and toughness to replace what we lost with Kmart+Evans.

Remember Matt Barnes publicly saying he hated when the Clipper fans went nuts when Blake dunked the ball? And he trashed us big time? Sorry if were a crap team historically and a dunk is something we get excited over. We haven't had the luxury of Orlando shipping us two top shelf Centers and getting STEALS in terms of draft picks ( Worthy, Magic, Cooper etc ).

If CP3 wants Barnes, I'm cool with it. I expect his bad personality to go away with leaders like Paul and Billups on board, and he can still contribute to the team with defense and hustle plays.
