New Rules for the Guess the Score Game

Clippers Forum » Clippers News & General Discussions
FOR ALL THOSE WHO ENJOY PLAYING Beginning Thursday, 1/26, the ongoing Guess the Score game/threads will change to include 3 options for earning a point. Here are the tentative new rules, which may be tweaked after reading any suggestions anyone may have prior to Thursday's game thread: From now on we will be guessing the score of the game for both the Clippers and their opponents. A score has to be exact in order to earn a point. You can however earn a point for either score you get correct, whether Clippers win or lose. For instance, if you guessed a score of Clippers 106, Opponent 101, and the score was Opponent 101, Clippers 98, you would earn a point for guessing the exact opponents score even though you didn't have them winning. Besides earning 1 point for guessing either score, if you should guess the exact final score of the game, both winner and loser, you will earn 3 points: 1 for each correct score, plus a bonus point for be exact with both. As has been, you may guess the same score as anyone else. If 2 or more people are correct, then they each get a full point or points. All scores, or changes to your scores, must be made/posted prior to the scheduled game time (not the exact second/minute of the tip off). If you simply post the scores without team designation, then I will assume you have the Clippers' score as the higher one. I will try to post the winners soon after each game in a last post on that particular game thread. Feel free to double check that I get give credit to the correct players. Thus the changes include: If no one has an exact score, then no one gets a point. Closest no longer....

Turned a simple cool game to a complicated disaster lmaoo!

No problem my freind, if guessing both team's score is too complicated for you ..... simply don't play! Yours will be one less post I have to check.

Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?Q?

do we have to say clippers 101 vs opp. 98 or 101 - 98 is fine?

My thoughts exactly

I follow hockey and soccer.....I'm used to confusing point systems.

Well, I suppose I can add a rule for those who have to type by way of a straw in their mouth that reads: If you can't designate the teams and just enter the two scores, I will assume that you are putting the Clippers score as the highest of the two.

So let it be written, so let it be done!

I like the simplicity of the old system, as this new one creates some odd situations.

Let's say I predict a Clippers win: Clippers 90 Opponents 88

Person X predicts: Clippers 125 Opponents 89

The score ends up: Clippers 91 Opponents 89

I get 0 points, and Person X gets 1 point, even though my prediction was MUCH better. Doesn't seem fair.

this was fun, at first... now it's just plain wack!!! yup i said wack!!

lets add more rules to a game where you win nothing... It was fun typing in what I believed the score would be. Now you add rules and disrespect me for asking a simple question. "I type by way of straw in my mouth" SMH. Needless to say this will be one less post for you to count.

Repped (+1)

Lmfao! Thanks for the good laugh 8)

I liked it better before...simple, quick, and easy. I'll still play but I would suggest not giving a point for getting ONLY the opponent's score right, or maybe only if you guessed the correct outcome of the game (W/L). So if I guess 101 LAC, 90 LAL, and the score ends up LAC 85, LAL 90, I shouldn't get a point for that.

But I guess that only complicates it more.

The simpler the better!!

So why not start another game with the simple rules and let people choose which game they would like to post their predictions?

even though i havent participated, big ups to sissyboyfloyd for taking the time to put this together.

while the current system of your game works, id prefer a vegas-style (sans gambling, of course).

I think some of you are reading way too much into this. Nearly everyone posted both team's game score anyway. There is nothing more or extra you have to do.

The only extra work is on my part which I don't mind. The reason I wanted give weight to both scores is you have more than one chance to win. You can look at the match up and guess how strong our offense will be based on that nights team's D. And then exam the match up of our D compared to their offense. That is if you want to. Or just keep doing what you were doing anyway and pick any random numbers you want.

Nothing has changed from what all of you were doing anyway. Why do some of you think this is so complicated to play. Just do what you have been doing. It is just for fun anyway.

I wasn't going to say this now, but will anyway. For those who care to enjoy playing, I plan on offering a nice prize to whoever wins, if that is allowed and the person wants it.

Sorry, if I some how made this seem so much more complicated in a few of your minds.
