Ron Artest is coming to town

Reports say the Ron Artest and Corey Maggette will swap teams before Friday's game against the Kings. The is an exchange of good players who are semi-damaged goods. Ron Artest is damaged because of child-like behavior that questions his mental state. Maggette is a good guy who always seems to be a breath away from another physical injury. If Maggette stays healthy the next 2 or 3 years, it is a good deal for the Kings. If Ron comes to LA with a good state of mind and keeps it that way, he has a chance of returning to his 04/05 all star form he displayed at Indianna. Who will get the better end of this deal?

Well- hate to see Corey go- it's really too bad he and Dunleavy can't get along. It'll be so weird to see him in another uniform and hurting the Clippers.

I agree David.

I Dont think we need Ron

We need Rashard Lewis

Jus Give Up Corey & Big Z (so salaryz can match up) for Rashard Lewis

WE NEED RASHARD

Yeah, Rashard Lewis would look great behind the Clipper bench...unfortunately, that's were he'd be for the next 8 weeks because of his injury.

If you watched tonights game against Boston, you saw why the Clippers should trade for Artest. The things that contributed to this blowout was defense and aggression...two things that Artest would bring even more of. Maggette is a great offensive player and in a perfect world, I'd keep him. However, he doesn't want to be here because he's not getting the minutes he thinks he should get (actually, he's getting a lot of minutes recently but that's just because the Clippers are showcasing him for other teams) and Dumb-leavy is not inclined to increase his minutes because of his defensive liabilities. It's really unfortunate because I think that Maggette could be great defensive player if he put his mind to it. He definitely has the athletic ability. The Clippers defense tonight is what made their offense go...so Artest would add to that even more.

Since we didn't get the Iverson trade done, the Clippers need to get the Artest trade done. Go Clippers!

Yeah I remember when Alvin Gentry deemed Maggette his defensive stopper (either Corey's first or second season). But I think he put most of his focus on improving his offensive but didn't work to improve his D and now he's a mediocre defender.

I don't understand how there's people that can't see adding Artest to our team is a great mistake. You can tell what you want about his defense, about his agressivity...It doesn't matter when this person is ill.I'm not joking. What do you think he's going to do next year?He will leave to another team.He isn't a serious person and I don't want silly persons in my team.I don't want clowns in my team.I'm sure we can get something more positive, more serious for Maggette.I repeat, if this trade happens I only expect the worse..

I don't mind to get Rashard injured instead of a silly, problematic, absurd, ill player like Ron.

P.D:It's obvious that I HATE Artest...isn't it?

i love maggette but it's time for him to go, you can say what you want about dunleavy, but he's the coach and you're going to have to accept that. so if it's ron artest that we get, then let's go for it. it's a risk, but that's what the clippers have failed to do, take risks. it might work out, or it might fail, but you guys forgot about this, it's not like it's permanent, you can always trade ron.

Last night Corey scored 11 points on 5 shots. Ron scored 10 points on 12 shots. The difference is that Corey scores more the same way Kobe does. He gets fouled a lot and then knocks down his free throws. Points from the line is what differentiates Corey from most players. If this trade goes down, we lose offense and gain defense. Lately however, I have noticed Q messing up defensive assignments, like the Ford jump shot to beat us. There have been other glaring examples. Q is taking minutes away from Corey because of defense, but Q work has not help us and the players he has been guarding have been putting up big numbers. Coach should be starting Corey. Q or Cat should sit to start the game.

Another positive point right now is that finally we have the opportunity to see what Daniel Ewing can give us...He played very good in the summer leagues (I know what means summer leagues Wink) but I see him as a player with great energy, and I'm sure he's going to fight every minute he plays...It would be a pitty discover a good player only because the starter is injured...Singleton:the same.let's see if we must wait till one of our starters (Brand,Thomas) got injured to see him play significant minutes

One of the biggest problems I have with Dumleavy is not using more of his bench. It would be different if Ewing and Singleton couldn't play. Often times they come with more energy than the guys who are in the rotation. Both Ron and Corey played last night, which means there is no deal as of yet. Friday nights game against Sacramento will certainly be odd if a trade is not made. It will be even more odd if the two start against each other. I feel a battle coming on.

what we need is a pure outside shooter that can stroke the rock and put some consistant numbers up... as for Artest; that guy is a bum! dont get me wrong, he's a heck of a ball player its just that you do not need that type of attitude in a locker room like the Clips. The Clips are the nicest team in the "L".. i say we keep Corey (not only because he's my favorite Clip) throughout the rest of the season and go after somebody big in the off season like a Ray Allen or Michael Redd.... that's the piece i think we're missing here.....

Isnt Redd locked up in his contract for a while?? Not sure on that. Does anyone know the contract status of Allen or Redd ?? Michael Redd is an instant scoring machine. If you ask him to do that, while the rest of the team feeds Elton and Redd, hustles for rebounds and plays defense, that would be very hard to stop.

Not that it's required to win a championship, but I've been saying this for a while here: that Elton Brand is our only consistent scoring machine. It's a crapshoot figuring out who else will get hot. And although Maggette's scoring is nice when it works, it doesnt work when a good defensive scheme breaks down him cutting to the hoop. We need a pure shooter on this team to compliment Brand. The rest of the league is finally zeroing in on Brand like never before, and to win with the team right now it will require absolute concentration and determination. It can happen, but if we had Brand and Redd with the rest of our blue-collar, hard-working team, I believe we would win continuous championship and playoff games.

Elton Brand is the Franchise: we build around him.. we need to bring in a Redd or someone that will help him with the scoring. Every game he's getting double downed on and then kicks it out to Livingston and the guards that cant for some reason hit a 18 footer. there is NO need for Artest! C-Maggs needs to accept that 6th man role and play hard like he's use too

Looks like the Artest deal isnt going down at all (according to BenMaller.com and other various net sources).

Thats alright with me. The problem isnt talent here. I would love to add another piece to this team (a reliable shooter), but as ChuckZilla hinted at in talking about Maggette: the shooting and defensive problems are fixable if the players step up and accept their responsibilities towards their committment to winning. If the fundamentals aren't the problem and we're still losing, then it falls on the playcalling. I know a lot of you dislike Dunleavy, and I'll agree that he is overrated indeed, but he wouldnt be in this position if he didnt know how to coach. We just need to tweak the quality of the fundamentals and raise the energy and passion, for this team to start winning bunches of games. If we have a chance to get a proven star like Allen, Redd, Kobe, Pierce, they better pull the trade trigger, but until then, This team is either a few minor steps away (hey they can still beat teams without star players - Boston,Houston) or it is Dunleavy. The finish to this season will tell.

Reports are that the Kings management called the Clippers last Friday to see what possibly could be done on a trade for Artest. They initated the trade scenario. But the media leaks seem to be coming from the Clippers side not the Kings side. But as of today there is not a firm offer one way or the other. That is why both players were playing last night. This could be fizzling which will make Friday nights game very interesting.

Artest isn't going to give you shooting. His FG%'s are horrible and he takes plenty of forced shots. He's great as a defensive stopper though, something Maggette is also quite capable of when the night compels him. However, getting Artest might be the spark the lights like Clippers on fire.

I don't see Redd leaving the Bucks. At this point he's their franchise player.

Tonights game could be a battle to see which team made the mistake of making the trade. If Corey goes off and dominates Ron and Ron stuggles, the Kings might think twice about the opportunity they passed up. I like Coreys chances to getting his numbers tonight. I think Ron will have only moderate success against the Clippers. We'll see. What do you think?

Good point, JamFan. I think we will win this game. I think the team is starting to get the hang of things. Tonight's game will tell the tale.

I can't sleep (too many things around my head)...Te Clips are playing right now (2:14 left from halftime) and Corey 13 points (5-7) while ronron has 5 points (2-6)...Maggette is winning the battle at the moment.Nice game by kaman too with 10.let's see if the can kepp going on this way...
