Clippers vs. Mavericks Game Day 2025-11-29

Clippers Forum » Clippers Game Day

Please post your predictions for the game against the Mavericks. What must the Clippers do earn a win? Who on the Mavericks should Clips focus on? Will the game be first to 115 points or defensively-oriented? Who will step up?

KL bingo, now 1V3, loses the ball, but recovers and drills the little J! Clips back up 9.

Solid first half by the Clips up 56-49. John Collins with his best first half as a Clip with 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting as he tries to fill that 3rd scorer void for the team. Let's see if the guys can shake the 3rd Q blues this game as we've seen way too many halftime leads squandered already this season.

The Beard shouldering the offensive load here, bingo to put the Clips back up 8 after the Mavs briefly took the lead. Defense is looking solid enough, but guys just gotta keep up a consistent scoring pace.

That was fun- Harden to the cutting Collins for the monster slam! JC now the block!

Ugh- Sanders gotta shoot it there as he was open from deep. Turnover ensues and they get another open 3 by Thompson.

Tied at 83 at the end of 3Q. Good effort by Brown to keep the ball alive there to give Batum a chance. Unfortunately it's going to take more than just playing hard to win this one- more guys other than Harden & Leonard have to hit some shots.

Oof- Brown and Batum just aren't able to hit these open 3's. They're playing solid D though. Clips as a team just 6 of 22 from deep, clinging on to this precarious 3 point lead.

Come on! Thompson chucks in a tough 3 on the move to tie the game at 96. On offense guys are just looking to Harden.

Oh me oh my- Dunn with 2 clean looks from deep, can't hit.

Ouch- Zu banged his head on the floor. He's still down- thankfully seems okay, getting up now.

How about a post feed to Zu, with cutters to the hoop? Zu with 2 big FTs now. Drills both- invokes Lawler's Law, Clips up 100-99.

Collins huge bingo! 103-101 Clips, 2 minutes to go

Can't be leaving Thompson open- ugh!

107-105 Mavs with 58 ticks left. Must score here, and switch on D to not give Thompson any room.

And... that may be all she wrote as Kawhi misses the J, now Harden the bricked layup.

Dunn, Batum & Brown- 1 for 12 from deep. The bench just 2 of 15 shooting.

Clippers with a glimmer of hope here as Harden gets fouled shooting a 3. 6.7 left Clips down 5. Make all 3 and need a steal.

Clips unable to foul until 1.7 left, but it's moot as they make both FTs and the Clips fall again. Final score 114-110 Mavs.

So the bench guys played a total of 67 minutes and had 5 points, all by Kobe Brown. That's just mind-boggling bad. Should've put in Brook Lopez who probably could've hit a few 3's?

So with the Clippers losing Beal for the season, they can't get some sort of exception to sign somebody who can shoot?

Bye Ty.

And on December 15th, bye Kawhi.

Ty Lue harping that the defense is the issue, but obvious that scoring is the main problem. Reporter asking about turnovers- they hurt of course but you can't be perfect. But yes Harden has been too turnover prone the last two games especially- had 7 today. Part of that is that the defense can focus on him and KL, and they'd get away with it.

Our defense is awful.

We have a handful of possessions every game that make me think there's hope, but our guys can't handle that much activity and effort.

We can't shoot at all. I haven't seen a team shoot this poorly over multiple games in a while.

I have questions about Zu. I feel like he hit the threshold of game planning he can handle.

Dude rarely catches the ball in a position to make a move now. Different ballgame....

...and he's looking more n' more like a Discount C rather than a high end Center.

I don't have the first clue of what we can do to make this team better right now.

Video highlights:

Our 2026 pick belongs to OKC…YIKES!!

We cannot score and no Jordan Miller. He is only scorer I have seen of our bench guys. Why is he not playing?

One day I was invited to coach a veteran women's amateur team, with players between 35 and 50 years old, and they weren't winning a single game. One of the first things the women asked me was, "What's our problem?" And the truth is, there were several: lack of speed, poor physical conditioning, and since it was a league without age restrictions, many of their opponents were younger; most of the teams were between 20 and 30 years old. My answer to that question was, "We have to play our own style, slowing down the pace of the game at all times, using our experience in every play, and having a game plan, because you won't know what you're doing wrong if everything is chaotic."

What I did with that team was bring order. Short-term results no longer mattered. I gave them a system of play and placed each player in the position where she performed best, according to her talent and physical attributes.

That team didn't become champions, but they did achieve a very memorable runner-up finish.

I mention this because it reminds me of the current Clippers team. They're veterans, but they can't keep up with the current pace of the NBA. There are moments when they seem to be able to, but they run out of steam towards the end of games.

Let's be realistic, this Clippers team won't be champions, but they can do much better, I'm sure of it. And honestly, I don't care if we win championships in the near future. What matters more to me is that there's a philosophy, a commitment to continuous improvement, and if we have to start over, then we do it.

Throughout history, in every era, when someone becomes a fan of a team, it's not because they win championships every year. It's because we fans identify with the way the team competes, and when there's a loss, we should always face it head-on.

did Ty Lou just get fired?????

Good post on continuous improvement. We seem to be stuck doing same thing and hoping for better results.

Unfortunately, your strategy on this Clipper team will not work because the head coach is too stupid to figure what works best for the team. Also some of these players are too stubborn to change their ways.

For me, I’d shake things up and shift Harden and Collins back to the bench and start cam and Kobe Saunders. Have Dunn run the point and just focus on defense and facilitating. This would separate Harden and Kawhi because they really don’t play well together. If Harden makes a fuss about it, he could go home. This way, you implement defense first. Collins was playing better off the bench anyways, so he’ll be the backup PF/C. This would at least help the bench scoring plus it will give Zu more touches.

Not sure why I am hear Zu slander...

Most games played and started on our team. 3rd most points. 2nd most minutes.

He's a top 4 NBA rebounder.

Could he be better? Yes. Is it proper to mention him in what isn't working? Not so much.

I've really loved the ascent from Zu, and I'm not quite ready to put him in the Trade Machine, but I think it's time to change the makeup of this team.

Even with the rebound stat output, this is the first season I've seen Zu ball watching after shots go up, on multiple possessions.

It's way too hard to get the ball to him. When they finally do, he's not in his spot, or the double happens too quick.

He should be living at the FT Line, but Zu gets zero whistle. The NBA doesn't want any resemblance of old skool ball. They want points and fould baiters.

Well, at least on the plus side.... OKC proved length and defense can still be a calling card of a championship team.

Guys this team is fool's gold or better fool's lead. We have no scorers so every time Zu gets the ball in the post he's double or triple teamed. He is better at the top of the key. We are a step slow. Our players are end of the bench bench players not even mid level or top level bench players.. Even Dunn can't score and probably wouldn't play. How can you play drive and kick when your players can't shoot at all and can't get to the rack? How many years did Kobe Brown ride the pine? Did he all of a sudden get good?. They don't even guard CP3 at all (Why isn't he mid range on the right Ty?). They sag off of everybody else at the 3 pt line. 20 games into the season and as predicted KL is hurt. We cannot give players the job they do best because none of them can do anything.Fortunately Harden is having a career year. Who knows when KL's next injury will be. 30 games PLEASE.

Ty cannot polish a brick. It was fool's gold from day one.
