The Los Angeles Clippers have examined the possibility of acquiring LeBron James this offseason, according to sources.
The Miami Heat consider the Clippers to perhaps be the most serious competition to sign James if he opts out.
League executives believe the Heat would ask for Blake Griffin in return from the Clippers. Los Angeles would need to shed additional salary.

Love the idea of LeBron, not so crazy about trading Griffin for him. As great as LeBron and Wade are, not sure they win championships without a good PF like Bosh.
Trading Blake for the King......I'd honestly hesitate if the opportunity presented itself. Blake is much younger and is still improving a lot. I mean, it's just hard to imagine losing Blake for anybody really. It'd be like we cheated the system if we won it all with the best player in the world who had already won it somewhere else. Just feels.....wrong lol.

If by some miracle, LBJ does come, Clips would only have a 3-4 year window of winning. Meanwhile Blake wouldn't provide you with a higher chance of winning every year, but he can be dominant for at least another 7-8 years for the Clips.
no no no no no no no. I have a huge conversation string on ESPN about this article. Blake is not tradable in my opinion. It will be very hard for me to accept any trade involving Blake. He is our brand. He is our rock. I am sure there are other ways we can improve without giving up Blake.

Come on, you can't compare a 37 year old, past his prime KG to a 29 year old who happens to be the best player in the world. I mean, I love Blake and he's nearly untouchable, but there are only 2 players I'd trade him for - LeBron and Durant. You have to do it.
The general rule of thumb is Blake is un-tradeable........except maybe for King James.

Personally Blake is untradeable in my opinion. Blake has been one of the key pieces in turning our franchise around. Do the Bulls trade MJ for Magic in 88? (I know Blake isn't MJ, but you never know to what heights he can get too)
Maybe Durant, and that was more if Blake wanted to play in his hometown. No age difference there either. LBJ and CP3 could be very redundant. We have seen Blake's passing ability be held a little on check due to CP's own great passing ability.
I'm personally not LBJ's greatest fan, and think that Durant is closing the gap rather quickly. I have always wondered how he would fare if he was going through a grueling western playoff tree rather than a eastern version. Due to freakish athleticism and size, as well as incredible skills he is the greatest player in the league now; but still thinks that he has faltered in mentally tough clutch situations to this day. He would have to go through many more of these in every Western playoff series. I know that CP is as clutch as they come so that pressure would still be alleviated, but don't like the idea of him not wanting that shot.
With all that said if we could get him without trading Blake then I'm all for it.

If it wasn't for blake.. Chris would've never come to the clips. Blake Griffin is the heart n soul of this team and i'm not even gonna consider one bit of trading him to any player especially to the athlete who has never loyal to his fans.

There's a very good chance that 2-3 years from now, Blake will be the better player. I'd have to think long and hard about that trade.

Yea, I think with LBJ holding all the cards and some other (both SA and Dallas who are well below the cap next year) contending teams he could choose from, maybe we could "force" the Heat into a deal surrounding DJ + others + picks instead of the Heat just watching him walk out the door. Worth the try if it comes about.

Totally agree. IF he chooses to leave, it's pretty much "send me where I want to go, for what they want to give, or get nothing".
I'm actually a little concerned about "fit" though. Blake and LeBron look more similar as players with every passing year. If we really could get an MVP-caliber player without giving up Blake, Durant or George would be so much better for our balance, but that's not happening.
I guess with that much talent, we'd find a way to make it work. 
Damn this is actually hard. I always said that the only player I would trade Blake for is LBJ. But now that this might be a possibility, I'm having second thoughts. Look I know Blake will never be as good as Lebron but man I just love him. I guess it's just me being loyal. And winning the championship with LBJ just seems so... unsatisfying. I mean I consider him a top 3 player of all time when it's all set and done.
If anything, it'd make more sense for us to move CP3 for LBJ. In my opinion, Blake is more important to this team long term. If LBJ is leaving, they're not getting a better deal than Paul, they're in no position to demand Blake.

Chances are low that he comes, but it would be nil if Paul's not here. Lebron wants to play with Paul and that's the gravity of the whole article.
I think the chances are lower than 5% but if its a real possibility i don't see how you don't give up Blake for Lebron i just don't.. At the same time If Lebron leaves Miami your essentially trading for a player who will no doubt leave the team once his contract is done..

So maybe the Clippers win a championship sooner than later by acquiring LBJ and trading Blake. But would anyone feel good about that? We win by getting the best player in the NBA while shipping off the guy we drafted? The guy who's given us so much? The guy who's represented the franchise in the All Star Game 4 years in a row now? The guy who started the turnaround for a perennially troubled franchise? Any win for the franchise would be huge, but I wouldn't want to do it like that.

if lebroned sign with us in the first place a few years back we couldve had a big 3 of chris paul james and griffin. at the time we still had gordon and kaman and aminu which were the essential piece used to get paul. and we wouldve still had dj. if he only knew
I've been a Clipper fan for a long time, if we traded Blake (against his will) I would have to consider following another team. To be honest, I had a difficult time when we traded Eric for CP3 too (I can admit that I was wrong on that, but that is based more off his attitude with NO). Lamar left, Loved Corey but he didn't want to be here towards the end, Brand faked us out and took off.
If Lebron leaves Miami, and he doesn't go back to Cleveland, I really wouldn't want that much to do with him. He's a great player, and I know winning usually heals most issues, but it wouldn't feel like won a championship rather than have bought one. I never liked the fact that he went and joined forces somewhere else. I understand it more from Carmelo's perspective where he hasn't been able to do it as the main piece and maybe it's time to play second fiddle to win.
I'd understand if it was further down the road and he couldn't do it with the roster, but Miami has given him all the pieces to win. If he leaves there is no sense of loyalty, look at how Miami treats all there players. It's a family, and I would like for the Clippers to do the same. This starts with us showing loyalty to the first great player that has shown loyalty to us. Blake has shown loyalty to us from the get go, he didn't buy into the cursed Clippers hoopla even after his injury. He carried the team his rookie year even in the midst of being surrounded by an unmotivated Baron and Kaman.
I'd like to have LeBron James on the Clippers but at the cost of Blake Griffin? I don't think so. I love the combination and chemistry of our core guys and I'm not willing to give that up for the best player in the league right now. I like the direction Blake is going and I just see him getting better and better over the years and eventually developing into the most dominate power forward in the league.
