This City Belongs To The Clippers Going Forward

I can feel it. Lakers making one bad move after another. Dwight now all but guaranteed to be gone next week. Lakers starting 5 will be Nash, Meeks, Peace, Hill and Gasol. Beyond that the roster will be incredibly old with no cap flexibility to get young for another year. Look at the difference in how LAC and LAL are handling their free agents? We make one great move after another, LAL puts up signs to beg theirs and makes no chances. We have arrived my brothers and sisters.

This happens to coincide with us acquiring Doc, all but guaranteeing CP3 staying. Then you look at how we stole Gentry from under them, are working nonstop to improve the roster and actually have assets. We talked about this day when we got Blake Griffin in the draft and it's finally here. Lakers are going to need at least 5-10 years to get the ship moving again. If by then we can win a couple rings, make a few WCF's appearances and keep building popularity... LA is going to be intense for the basketball world.

All it takes is 1 ring from us, and the city is ours, i'll bet on it (waits for Tense)

NO, I don't think we will ever "take the city" and really, does anyone here really giving a flying eff if we do or not? We want is to be proud of our team and get our first ring. We just want to wear our gear without ridicule and that is finally happening.

I love Jim Buss more than I hate DTS. That's saying something. Although, these days I've eased up on DTS a lot. So to rephrase, I love Jim Buss more than the time I hated DTS the most.

I told my Laker fan friends since day one of Dwight to Lakers rumors that I wish that trade would go through. And look where we are now...

It's literally like watching a train wreck. Good job Buss. Who remembers talks the last couple years about how the CLIPPERS would find a way to screw it up? Seems it's the LAKERS who have had that happen. Lakers fans you were right about a free agent superstar leaving LA. You just didn't know it was from your team.

the Lakers will never have another Kobe. Good or great player but never a "Kobe". I see a very average future ahead for the Lakers. Some players are just irreplaceable. Since MJ left the Bulls, they havent won a ring in like what 17 years?

After Shaq left it took the Lakers 7 years to win a ring. After Kobe leaves it will take even longer. I try explaining this to my friends but they don't understand. They say " Oh thats what they thought about Magic and Kareem" and in all respect to them, their rosters back then were stacked fortunately and it has been said before that Kobe Bryant is the best Laker in Lakers history. With this being said, I don't ever see the Lakers being as glorious, even if they somehow magically signed Lebron it wouldn't even matter.

Yup. I agree Kobe's, Shaq's are once in a generation players and doubt they luck into more of those. It worked through the 00's because they also had good trade assets and acquired players that way. They have two choices. COMPLETELY tank and gut the roster for a few years Orlando Magic/Cleveland Cavs style right now... or be mediocre for a decade or more.

If the Clips do something dumb like trade Blakae for Howard, that would rejuvenate the Lakers pretty quick.

I'd hold up on this thought. Doc isn't a savior, and our roster is still up in the air. The Lakers had a real bad season, but in the end, we ended up in the same position. The city doesn't belong to us, we haven't won a thing yet. We've thrown money at our problems, just like Jimmy boy has. We haven't won a thing except a few news cycles.

I agree with Joe.... Just because things are looking good for us right now shouldn't mean we should be gloating.... Believe me, I am excited as the next guy here but I also know that we still got some way to go... I'd wait and see but enjoy every minute of it while its good.

With that said, it has been nice reading all the panic reactions from our cross town neighbors for a change...

I hate these "My Town" type comments. Honestly the Lakers can keep this town, full of classless punk fans looking to loot after every championship. I like the fact that the Clips are the younger sibling and I like the fact we're not the majority fan base. All I care about is the team winning, city bragging rights aren't even on my wish list. Rest of the city can keep citing history and how many rings they have, I'm just going to enjoy the here and now as we sweep them again next season and not even break a sweat.

Its a great start, but to say that lakers will disappear if Howard leaves is some wishful thinking. Although the new CBA does cripple their old methods of just buying everyone and everything, they still have the championships and the legacy. I think they will get some solid FA's in 2014 and will be relevant again by 2015/16.

I disagree i think its our right to gloat, but i think we need to win something before we do.
