Great interview from Tomar Azarly! DJ talks about life after Blake+CP3, not making the playoffs, video games and more.

He seems like a glue type of guy in the locker room who everyone likes

Is LBJ the GOAT? (It's really Bob Petit).

I don't think DJ really said anything, just that everybody has a puppy

Only because Bob Petit would be 7 feet tall today and dunking from the 3 point line

I beg to differ about the culture.

This was a team that had every reason to quit. ALL of it's starters injured. Beverly, Gallo and Avery were out for the season. Nobody gave up. They could have said "screw it" but they didn't. We have two potential stars, Trezz and Tobias. We are crazy to trade Lou. Sindarious, CJ, Juan and Ty all G league rookies played like veterans. They are all NBA material. We have maybe the greatest GM ever. I've said all along that these guys are badasses. They pay tough and physical. Given the right moves, we can be a tough bunch.

Very politically correct. Sounds like his PR person did an interview

I completely agree. This team was almost literally built over night. As much fun as it was watching Lob City make the playoffs every year, it's nice to no longer be considered soft anymore. We have a great situation with our 2 draft picks. We can trade up for a good pick, trade them for immediate talent, or just keep them. You can use one on a for sure thing and the other one on a project

Wonder if DJ has anything to say about what JR Smith just did.

Lol total brain lapse. I would imagine JR and George Hill play much better from now, they will take the brunt of the blame. Personally, I thought the game was over once the referees changed the block/charge foul on Lebron, total backbreaker. Refs affect the game too much, it’s unfortunate.

It's more because DJ did the same thing JR did a couple of years ago against Portland. Clips went on to lose that game in overtime. I can still picture CP cursing out DJ to shoot the damn ball.

there was also a drive of Lebron with some contact but the ref did not call a foul and when Curry drive to the hoop without a contact (on the replay) they call a foul. Same thing happen during the Rockets when Gordon drive and there was a lot of contact from Green and the ref swallow their whistle.

Once again, Tony Brothers messes up a replay call and helps a Kevin Durant team win.

Did Draymond poke LBJ in the eye on purpose? Looked like it to me.

Why don't they allow a coach one replay/quarter and allow fouls to be overturned on replay? The refs treated CLE like they were the clippers

Absolutely! I don't care what anyone says. I don't care who vouches for this guy. Tony Brothers is CORRUPT. That guy always finds a way to impose his will on the game, and it usually becomes clear because of replay--either disregarding the replay footage completely(Clippers), or using it when he has no right to (Warriors).

The crazy thing to me -- practically the whole world is echoing this sentiment. Particularly in the Finals, analysts typically blurt the same garbage "No excuses -- Players gotta make plays" But almost everyone analyst I Have seen has been claiming Cavs were flat out robbed, and it wasn't just because of the charge/block reversal. Absolute Clippers treatment!

By the way -- why no tech on Draymond for clapping in Cavs' face after Thompson ejection? How is that not taunting?

Well, it looks like DJ is sending signals he wants to join the Rockets. Good luck with that ol' buddy. Unless DJ pulls a "Tanya Harding" on Capela, the Rockets have already said they will match any offer sheet Capela gets. After the way he played this past season, only a desperate team will dish out more than 20 million/ year for him. There is so much more better talent at the center position right now that his stock has dramatically dropped. I don't know, making it known that you want to play for a team who has a better center and made the WFC takes some big cojones.

Rockets would be fools to even entertain this. Deandre is an even bigger fool to think Houston would dump a better center for him. DJs only hope is that another team maxes out Capella and the Rockets have to find a replacement. Then, maybe then, the Rockets would pursue him.
Let's hope that happens. One way or another, DJ has to be gone. I appreciate everyrhing he's done here but any more wins he helps us win would be hurting the team's future. His salary is also an anchor for the team.

Well, him and CP talk every day according to both of them, so I guess they missed each other. I know it's his hometown too, so nothing surprising, we've been told the story of hometown / wanting to go play with Paul already.

This kinda works for the Rockets because it gives them more options. Rockets have an interesting off-season. They are the biggest threat to GS, we know that, they know that. They have that Anderson contract no one wants, but they want to improve.

They are looking at Paul as the primary guy to bring back, then Capela, then they somehow want to magically add either LeBron or George. Well, if they can get quite the discount for DJ, which I don't know why he would be taking a discount, but that might open the door for one of LeBron or George and force them to let go of Capela if he gets a a max offer sheet which likely won't work with for them wanting to add the other guys. Capela is better than DJ, younger too, but if DJ comes cheaper and it is the difference between intriguing at SF over Ariza then it chose they would do it.

All that is whatever, the only thing is whether the Clippers can cash in and get some asset, any asset from the whole ordeal.

DJ is better than Capela. I think people here are unaware of Capela's endurance problems (which he's had since his first day in the league and it never went away).

DJ may be slightly better but he is on the decline while Capela is on the incline. DJ is also asking for

much more money.

Capela has better footwork and more post moves than DJ and is younger as well. His endurance and strength can be improved on over the summer

Capella is 23/24 would take him over DJ right now. He is a better finisher outside of dunking the ball than DJ.

Dj is already in his prime. He isn’t getting any better.

I’m just ready for this rebuild. Austin and DJ need to go. Unfortunately doc used his persuasion powers on Ballmer and got another extension.

DJ wants to play with HOU? So do I. It doesn't mean that I have a chance. This guy is not the most mature decision maker in the world and has often had unrealistic expectations. When father time sets in and DJ loses his hops, he's worth little. On the plus, he and CP have chemistry. I took chemistry once and it never has helped me. I still for the life of me don't know why he doesn't have ONE post move.

Capela will likely demand more money in the market, but even if the money was the same, I'm not taking DJ over him.

I would say skill wise they are the same but where Capela clearly beats DJ is in heart and hustle. I never see Capela giving up on a play and he goes after everything. DJ on the other hand is very Durable. If i am Houston i go for DJ for the cheap and his durability. Someone is going to over pay for Capela, him or DJ is not worth max.

After the season Capella had I don't see the Rockets having any interest in DJ unless he's willing to play ridiculously cheap, which we know he won't. I think he leaves, but I don't see him ending up in Houston.

I think I would give the edge to Capella offensively. It's harder to judge defensively because we don't know if DJ's considerable drop off was due to physical decline, or just a disgruntled bad attitude and lack of effort. Either way it appears he definitely does not want to be here anymore, so even if he opts in the FO should be looking to put together a deal that sends him on his way, he'll be no help at all if he's here with a bad attitude.

Hahah yeah sure would love to see a DJ for Capela swap. Doubt that Houston would go for it though.
