The bottom line is that Doc has proven himself good at getting the most out of his teams. This year was exceptional. Given modest talent and adding all the injuries to key players, it's amazing we battled for the playoffs as long as we did and that the team played though the season with relative harmony. It would have been very easy for this team to fall apart, what with DJ looking for the door and the Blake trade and so many young players getting big minutes.

Doc has proven himself a disastrous GM, however. And, fortunately, that title was wisely stripped from him.

Wholeheartedly agree. Well said.

Not the best option for "yes". I was more optimistic about the future of this team immediately after Blake was traded. That albatross contract would have crippled the Clippers for years.

This year he did an overall solid job, but I don’t know if I’d say he gets the most out of the teams he coaches. He literally led us in a similar fashion as VDN playoff and record wise and I don’t think VDN was getting the most out of the team.

What kills me most with Doc is the lack of cohesive ball movement and rebounding and defensive fundamentals. We’d have made the playoffs if the team could just box out and play some team defense

Doc doesn't get the most out of his teams. When he had all the core, in their prime, he underachieved and squandered away our window. That core no longer exists and that is thanks to Doc. Now that he has his GM title stripped, and we will fall short of the playoffs, we're going to call Doc's season, exceptional? exceptional in what way? That he will end up 10th in the west? We're giving out participation awards now?

The only thing Doc managed to get the most out of was his son. As of now, Austin is leading the team in minutes in a position he can't play. Austin is averaging 33.8 minutes a game and that is more than Lou (32.8) and Harris (33.5). Yeah, he was exceptional this season. He can pick up his participation award on his way out to New York.

We are comparing apples and oranges.

Apples -- Doc did a great job this year. There were sometimes four starters out. We played with two rookies starting. Our PG was out much of the season as was Gallo. WE have no back up PG. This team was thrown together as an afterthought and learned on the fly. We lost our "franchise player" and we almost made the PO's, pretty damned good. If we had made the PO's I could consider him for Coach of the Year.

Oranges -- HOWEVER in the normal course of events without the disasters is he good? No.

So the starting front court next year is Gallo and Harris?? I don’t think Mr. 20 Million comes off the bench. Wallace and Thornwell would be perfect back court off the bench
