Went to the Clipper game with my son on Saturday. When I walked out, I happened to be walking out right next to, then behind, Trae Young. He is a small guy, clearly smaller than my son who was standing right next to him and is 6'2" and 175. He's listed at 6'2" and 180. Not a chance regarding the weight and perhaps he walks a bit hunched over, but still I would say he's more like 6' and 165.

Will be interested in seeing accurate measurement at the combine.

Did you just watch clippers this season? Doc has a history of not trusting a rookies and everybody knows that.
Name one rookie during Doc's time here who deserved more playing time, when they were here. Bullock sucked when he was here. Wilcox sucked too. Dawsen was a disappointment. Brice Johnson didn't show much. I know Doc drafted those guys, that's why he is a bad GM. He realized they stunk so he didn't play them.He played lots of rookies in Boston because those guys were deserving. Perkins, Rondo, Powe, Big Baby just to name a few. I have watched pretty much every Clippers game from back in the Danny Manning, Ron Harper days. I know all about Clippers past and present.

I figured he was smaller, everyone seems to be overstated height wise in the NBA. I really think Shai Gilgous is the one to go after, Trae could be too small and Sexton reminds me of Austin rivers 2.0

Clips signing CJ Williams to a 3 years deal. 😢 I prefer Wallace.

What is wrong with the front office?

Ah the lazy eye assassin Very Happy. Sure Wallace has a higher ceiling, but before Williams injured his ankle against the Worryors and his days ran out, he looked like a solid rotation player with a well rounded game.

I'm sure a contract for Wallace is coming as soon as the team opens up enough space under the tax to work out an agreeable (for both sides) contract with Wallace.

I’m going to assume they chose Williams because Ty Wallace has a horrible three point shot/ percentage.

CJ was playing fantastic before he went down with injury. It could also be first come first serve.

I assume CJ's asking price was cheaper. At 28 years I don't think he's gonna get much better. I think Ty has a higher possible ceiling if you have the patience. As long as Doc and his hand picked executives are here I wonder if they have the patience to develop young players. Doc always prefers veterans.

Sounds like a 3 year deal with the remainder of this year being the first and two non guarantee years afterwards. Very Clipper friendly contract.

Sorry peeps, just saw the CJ posts here... I'm with Snafu, think it was just about $. Mind you these players are all "role players" and only look good in the absence of BG, CP, and "all-star" talent... It is easy to pick up and play alongside Austin, Lou and Milos and be able to follow the pace /pass off as good. Also helps with DJ in the middle on offense and (when he was on) defense.

So, I guess I am trying to say that it is all relative... and I am not really hoping for much outta him. He better be coming in cheap though.

Hopelly super, decent defender and 3pt shooter but not much more than that.

Getting really excited to look at mock drafts and wait to see where the ping pong balls land. Reminds me of the good old days.

I've decided on the guy I want. Mikal Bridges from Villanova. He improved his shooting every season, hitting 43.5% of his threes last year. He's a 6'7" guard/forward who could turn out to be the best fit for today's NBA in this draft. Long, strong defender who can shoot.

If we can get up to #8, we should be able to get him.

He definitely looks solid but I think Knox had more upside. Shai and Knox is who I'm hoping they get, that'd be a huge coup

What do you guys think of the last Wst talk of the Clippers putting a package together for Kawhi. I personally love it and would be a quick rebuild to get us back up there. Maybe a possible lineup of

Beverly-Milos

Harris-

Kawhi

Gallo

Sign a cheap Big

I bet Spurs ask for both our picks and Harris for Kawhi. Then kawhi would have to carry our glass players and have Austin in his ear. Kawhi will love Doc.

Don't need to sign a cheap big. We got Harrell and Boban!!!

I'm hoping they get Colin Sexton from Alabama. Really athletic and can be the next Russell Westbrook type point guard.

I don’t think he has the hustle or drive of Westbrook. He is a mediocre shooter, reminds me more of D Rose. Would rather get Gilgous, he’s like a talker better shooting Bledsoe

Let me start off by saying I believe in Jerry West’s influence in the front office and his decision making especially when it comes to drafting. I will say this now, if Kevin Knox and Shai Gilgeous Alexander are both available, the Clippers would be making a huge mistake by not taking both with our projected draft picks falling into the 12-13 range.

That’s pretty rare on drafting two players from the same school.

Except that the Clippers have done that before. Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie from Georgia.

Both second rounders but yeah, it would be a rare scenario but really would have zero correlation to anything.

Both Knox and Gilgous are my favorite players outside the top 5 heavyweights (but honestly not that much of a Doncic fan. He looks like a worse shooting better passing Mike Miller).

Getting Colin sexton would be a dream come true. If porter Jr falls that would be amazing too, but if not I'll take young. I have complete faith west will evaluate effectively tho and our front office will take good players

If West grabs an unknown like he did when he drafted Kobe, I’ll lose my head lol

As a UK fan who watches most of their games, Alexander is the way to go. In my opinion, he'll be a better pro than De'aaron Fox. Fast, good defensively with long arms, can hit a nice mid range jumper, good vision. His jumper isn't that consistent but he can get to the hoop at will and always get everyone else going. I'm really high on him. Knox not so much. He's really a poor man's Harris and that would be redundant. I'm hoping for Alexander and Robert Williams.

Robert Williams would be really disappointing. Another big with little shot and offense who clogs up the lane and his effort on defense comes and goes.

I think the beauty of Knox and Tobias being on the same team is they can interchange between 4 and 5 and both can rebound and hit the change and make passes. We need more multidimensional players like that, teams with flex players thrive this day and age

I think I read somewhere that West’s perfect team would be 5 guys at 6’9 who could switch on everything and play any position.

Five Magic Johnsons.

Or, would five Jeff Greens would be good enough?

Tobias Harris, Rudy Gay, Jeff Green, Lebron James, Jason Tatum, Tre Harrell, Robert Covington.

Works under the cap.

I thought you said you were a high level coach. That team would be a disaster, too many people who can’t create on their own. Not good enough outside shooting.

All 6 9. They can switch everything. The West team.

And for the record, Harris, Tatum and Covington are all excellent shooters. Gay and Green aren’t bad.

Tobias is not an excellent shooter solid but not excellent, his numbers have only been above 36.5% this year and only one other year above 34.5

Tatum is a good 3pt shooter And Covington yep overall good outside shooter, definitely a threat from deep.

As for Gay, you are a Uconn fan so I am guessing you have followed his outside shooting woes and Green, that guys sucks from outside. He shouldn’t be launching a long ball unless he is wide open.

But overall yeah, 6’9 guys who can defend all the positions, it would probably be a great team if you picked 6’9 guys who can shoot.

Tobias over 40 percent from three this year.

Anyway I think West is right. You could put together an inter sting team that could fit under the cap and have the right combination of skills to be successful.

Right I said both of those things, just disagreed with the team you suggested that’s all

Getting back to the topic, there are a lot of good looking prospects this year. I haven't looked too much into the players but from the clips I've seen, the top 5 centers (Ayton, Jackson Jr., Bagley, Carter, Bamba) all look like perfect modern day centers with athleticism, defense and shooting. Would love to be able to snag one of them by trading up or maybe getting lucky somehow. There are a bunch of 3 and d wings that can fall to us as well. But I keep thinking and watching the playoffs, and what this team needs more than anything right now is a scorer. Someone that can go off for 40 any given night. Someone defenses have to respect on every possession. Someone that can shoot the ball off the dribble and spotting up from deep. Let me know what you guys think. I wouldn't mind trading down and would love it if we could purchase some second round picks again this year, as some first round talents can fall and be great value picks. I keep watching videos on the guys we are projected to take at 12 and 13, and while I like a lot of them (Knox, Bridges, SGA, Williams, Sexton, etc.) none of them I can truly say has the potential to be a franchise changer for this team from the clips on youtube- someone please change my mind. There are some guys outside of the lottery that look like they have a higher floor that would be able to come in and make an impact on the nba level. I really like Landry Shamet's game from what I've seen. The guy is 6-4 with long arms, can play on and off the ball, is one of the best shooters in the draft and is also....

Oh and another funny prospect we could land at 12 or 13 is Mitchell Robinson. I was looking at his game and he could be really scary in 4-5 years. 7'1" athletic center that can dribble and shoot- sign me up right? Well, he never played in college and basically all of his numbers are against little high school players. Then I watched a couple of this guy's interviews and can't help but laugh. He doesn't seem like he really gives a sh about basketball or anything at all. He has one of the highest ceilings and lowest floors in the draft. Watch his interviews and be the judge:
