Jerry West will be representative for the Clippers at the NBA Draft Lottery May 15th. 😄

I just hope we don't do anything stupid like draft Trae Young. We need to think outside the box and not draft based on name recognition but the intangibles that equal success: wingspan, defensive ability, and other skills aside from scoring. Many sources recommend for us to take Collin Sexton with one of the picks. Does anyone have any idea of his defensive capabilities?

Here's his draft profile: http://www.nbadraft.net/players/collin-sexton

Says he's basically a dynamic scoring guard, but not much of a shooter, playmaker, or defender. He's only 6'2", but has a 6'7" wingspan.

I'd much rather nab Shai Gilgeous-Alexander if available.

I don't know but PG now is getting taller, 6'2" s already short in this generation of basketball.

I like Zhaire Smith a lot and feel like he's a bit underrated. I am hoping for Smith and Gilgeous-Alexander.

It seems like there are a lot of good players after the top ten... And after the top five, there seems to be a drop off. So 6 - 15 could be fairly wild. Hopefully, one of the best of them falls out of that top 11 and lands with us. I am hoping for Bridges (either of them) or Sexton and hopefully, two of those three.

Sexton doesn’t seem like a good passer and he really isn’t a great shooter. Could be like a D rose at the best but I could really see him being an Austin Rivers 2.0

That's certainly the risk with him, but there is nobody at 12 and 13 who is the complete package. They are all a risk for one reason or another.

Sexton is a guy who has the potential to be a superstar at that pick if he gets better with he ball. You're right, he is more in the D. Rose style... And D Rose was an MVP before he had injury problems. Russell Westbrook is also a player of that mold.

Sexton's shooting is already good in streaks. It will certainly get better. He's only 19 and won't be 20 until the middle of next season. Most mocks have him going earlier, though many have him going to us. None have him going later.

@sammays, what are your thought on Shai gilgeous Alexander? I checked out his height, 6-6 with a 7-0 wing span. Pretty big for a PG

Out of the guys no one else is bringing up, I am also liking Lonnie Walker so far. 6'5" guard with a 6'10" wingspan that can shoot and is very athletic. Looks like he will be a good finisher inside with his strength and bounce. He can also become one hell of a defender with the right coaching. He just needs to work on his handles and he can be scary.

I think if he falls to us we end up taking him with one of our picks. Hard to turn down those physicals for our lead guard. He is not as athletic as I would like him to be but he is a good scorer inside and can play d. He has a really smooth game and just looks like he can play. If he can put on 20 lbs he can be great. I like him more than sexton. 6'2 is not tall enough anymore.

I also like Zhaire Smith. He is bouncy. Has potential to be really good or could turn into another Gerald Green.

I'm just hoping Detroit doesn't win the lottery and take away one of these picks. Maybe we can move up and take one of those top 5 if they drop a few spots. Would be even better if the ping pong balls fall our way.

If we can't move up I would love to move down and get an extra pick or two. We don't have any second rounders this year and this draft is deep. There are plenty of guys projected to go late first/early second that can make an impact right away.

Another one of those guys no one is talking about is Donte Divincenzo. Did no one here watch the national championship game this year? He is a winner.

I think players after Mikal Bridges are all crapshoots. Bridges likely around 8 - 10.

Seems that this draft is so young there will be guys available up to 25 who could develop into stars. Zhaire Smith, Lonnie Walker and Gileous Alexander, they can all become outstanding; or mediocre, or busts. That's why I like having multiple picks and Jerry West to pick 'em. Some of the mocks I've seen have all three of those guys linked to us as climbing the boards. Also, Porter's brother. I wouldn't mind trading down and getting three in the top 20 or 25.

I am sticking to my belief that the front office is going to look to 2020 as our year to emerge from the pack. Keep our pick in the process, trade DJ if he signs with us and almost certain trade Lou.

Gallinari is signed until then and his injury history makes him such an albatross, eating up so much cap space and delivering nothing, there almost isn't any other choice. I would love it if Gallinari is healthy and playing well (he IS an excellent player) and we move him at the trade deadline.

Even DeVincenzo seems like he could be a good player in the NBA and available in the 20s.

Great shot form, so he looks like he'll become a better shooter and he's strong enough. Interesting choice.

I also love Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. 6'8" sg that can really shoot, put the ball on the ground and seems athletic enough to play some d. We need more picks!!

Speaking of more picks, we need to buy some second round picks. Tremont Waters is short, but he is one hell of a basketball player. Didn't know he declared until just now. I've never seen anyone do what he did towards the end of this video:

yeah, I saw he was only 171 pounds...that's super thin. However, the weight can be added and your right his height and wingspan are too hard to pass up.

I find it amusing that so many of these mocks give us Robert Williams, assuming we are losing DJ and that we would want to replace him with a guy who plays just like him in Robert W. If I were to bet that there was one player we WON'T take in this draft, it is Robert Williams.

Exactly. When I saw comparisons to DJ the first thing that crossed my mind was...no thanks!

Yes exactly. If there is one guy I would be most disappointed in drafting it would be this guy. We don't need a shorter DJ. We already have DJ and Harrell who is undersized already. If he could shoot or had any polish to his offensive game, then on a rookie contract, he could be of better value than DJ; but I haven't been impressed.

Lets hope we win the lottery today

So we didn't get lucky and move up. While the selections may be slim at our draft positions I still hope the Clippers don't draft shorties. We need length. I hate when Doc rolls out a short three guard lineup. I ditto the no Robert Williams sentiment. Why would we want a shorter version of DJ? I think the Clippers need to develop a point guard. Teo at his age and broken body isn't anything for the future.

I like...Shai G-Alexander Kevin Knox, Dzanen Musa or a rim protector.

the guy I like is Wendell Carter, and don't know if we'd have to trade up, but perhaps Orlando would be a willing partner, and would love it if we could snare one of their second rounders as well in return.

if we can land a second round selection, the guy I like there is Austin Wiley.

ESPN mock gives us Gileous Alexander and Lonnie Walker, two long guards.

Move Lou and Beverly for two solid, young, bigs or picks. Let the whole thing develop for a couple years. Add a high draft pick next year. Then you go into 2020 with a great young nucleus and cap money to spend on a star to make it all click.

Done.

If we are planning on a 3 year process, we can take a gamble with one of the picks on a project. One of the guys I like as a project is Issac Bonga. 6'10" pg that says he wants to play like kyrie irving. He plays below the rim and can finish with both hands. Takes long strides and is shifty. If he can fix his shooting this guy is going to be scary in a few years.

Bonga is like only about 18 years old, but the upside is pretty scary. But he can be drafted later, so buying an early 2nd rounder or trading for a late 1st round pick might be the ticket if you want to take a flyer on him.

The only reason Lonnie Walker is not going in the top 8 picks is because he started his freshman season injured. His last 7 games he shot 44% from 3. He can score driving left or right to the hoop, and also has a mid range jumper. As mentioned earlier, 6'5" with a 6'10" wing span that many Bigs would be proud of. He is cat quick. Jerry West is looking for the next Kobe who he drafted at 13. Is this the guy? In Jerry We Trust.

Donovan Mitchell went 13 last year. Kyle Kuzma 27. Having 12 and 13 with west at the helm could see 2 steals of the draft.

This is the way. We cannot have a mix of semi-good veterans that will take up the rookies development time. We have to commit to the process, draft, and develop. This was the problem with the Lakers, they had decent picks, but their development stalled for Kobe's farewell tour. What is the point of retooling when Golden State is unbeatable. We stock up, develop, and by the time this crop comes of age we are ready to challenge.

@SamMays, there's talk of packaging our two picks for a higher one. What players do you feel are worth trading and moving up for? If we do this, I hope we move up for one of the centers like Mohamed Bamba or Deandre Ayton. Do you guys feel a swap of our two picks is a good gamble for a higher pick?

Ayton or Doncic. Those are the only two who seem can’t miss and I don’t think we can get that high. If you want to gamble on potential with a player who missed almost the whole season, there is Porter. He is gettable, and could be a grear one, but I’d rather stick with our two than risk a pick with back problems.

Bamba or Porter I think are worth trading up for. Maybe if Carter dropped to the 10th pick we could trade up for him but he isn’t worth both our picks

I would trade up for Ayton, Jackson, Bamba, Carter, and Bagley. We need a modern NBA big. I would rather trade down though and take some of these other guys. This draft is deep. Two picks is not enough. Maybe we can buy a couple second round picks. Phi has 4 second round picks. Atlanta has 3 first round picks. They might want to move up from 19 and give up 30 and 33. We have options.

I did a Google search, and looked all over for a rule on how many 2nd Round picks you can buy. I couldn't find anything on it. The Clippers bought two picks last year. Soooooo..........

For those of you who want to trade down, your dance partner is Atlanta. We give them the 13, and then we have the 12, 19, and 30th picks. In Jerry We Trust.

Yup. They could want to move up to take a pg like SGA after Dennis unfollowed the Hawks and drafting a big with their first pick. Maybe we could also squeeze them for a second rounder and end up with Walker, Hutchison, Shamet, and Mykhailiuk. Sounds like a plan to me.

so refreshing to read where fans/posters here are actually excited for the draft and value (our) draft picks.

like Kobe & Shaq, had grown tired of the below the surface tension between CP3 and Blake, and am looking forward to a Clippers resurgence w/the Logo & Co. in tow.
