Okay, so the beginning of the season is a bit of a mixed bag. A lot of home games, then a lot of road games, A LOT. The heavy home game start is actually very beneficial for this new team trying to build chemistry and figure things out, so the schedule people did the Clippers a solid there, though they made the next 10 games rough. A good start will actually be important for this team, and early success can help fuel their confidence and trust quickly which will push them through in the tougher parts of the schedule. So how well do you think the Clippers will do in this early schedule?

    @ LA Lakers

    Phoenix Suns

    Utah Jazz

    @ Portland Trail Blazers

    Detroit Pistons

    Golden State Warriors

    Dallas Mavericks

    Memphis Grizzlies

    Miami Heat

    @ San Antonio Spurs

    @ OKC Thunder

    @ New Orleans Pelicans

    Philadelphia Sixers

    @ Cleveland Cavaliers

    @ Charlotte Hornets

    @ New York Knicks

    @ Atlanta Hawks

    @ Sacramento Kings

    LA Lakers

    Utah Jazz

My prediction after 20 games is 12-8

9-11... It usually takes doc 20 years to realize Austin can't play point guard

I'm going to be optimistic and go all in. I believe 12 of those games should be wins and they could surprise a few of the other teams.

10-10

Its going to take a few months to get going...

I hope I am wrong.. 15-5 would be great..

But I think 10-10 is the reality..any win over 10 is a blessing for this young team.

Don't forget that you're going to have to take into account being on the road and fatigue in those later games of that second half, that's when you drop a winnable game. 14-6 would probably be a best case scenario.

@Portland, Warriors, @SA, @OKC, @New Orleans, @Cavs, those will be the hard games, likely lose at least 5/6, but Utah, Memphis, Miami and Hornets are teams that will challenge and you aren't likely to go 5-0 against. You win 60% of those (3-2) and lose 4/5 of those first ones and that's already 7 loses.

Can't see the 9-11 though unless we're already unhealthy 5 games in.

laboy because of the WC, a slow start worries me. You start out 15-15, then just to get to 45 wins we would need to win 60% the rest of the way, which is not crazy, but what if Gallo misses some genre, etc? I really hope they can get as many extra wins as possible early.

I hope Doc has figured this out by now, lol. Here's at least one thing Austin does well:

I was hoping for a 15-5 start as well.

I'm hoping for a 15-5 or better start too, lol, but reality says 13-7 or worse. Love to be wrong though which would give me a great head start on my bets.Smile

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I'm guessing 13-7. But yeah 12-8 or 11-9 would be more realistic.

I'm with most of you, 13-7 or 12-8 seems ideal, but going .500 is most likely. Every home game we should win minus against the Warriors. If we win half of our road games, I'll be happy. Surprise us Clips!

Yea, Warriors are the only truly known tough home game. Heat, Grizzlies and Jazz are unknown as to how tough they will be, we'll see, might be hard to win all 4 games vs those 3 teams even at home.

I'd be happy with 8-12 honestly. Especially if Austin is getting big minutes

8-12 would be pretty disappointing. What are your expectations for the season as a whole?

I see this team as a fun to watch sub 500 team. Hopefully I'm wrong but, a lot of role players and one star in Blake.

New group. Don't see them winning earlier on.

14-6, Bill Simmons calls it "the Patrick Ewing theory"

Understood. Health, good enough role players and good coaching can certainly get you well over .500. DJ is not an offensive star and isn't a superstar level guy, but he is an All-Star impact player, so technically the Clippers have two stars

Hopefully that one perceived star stays healthy and actually plays to his potential or to his best yet and this team may surprise some people.

The other star just has to keep doing what he has been doing the last few years and that will be just fine.

I'll be happy with anything .500 or above. The schedule is friendly, but we're a very new team.

I was reading NBA magazine in a waiting room yesterday, and they project us to be 7th in the West.

If we miss the playoffs, I think the calls for Doc's head will become deafening.

I agree the schedule is pretty favourable and at the start of last year I'd have been expecting at least 15-5. However this is a new team and there's a lot of unpredictables to factor in. A good many of these games are 50/50 calls. I'll go for 12-8, and hopefully I'm not being too optimistic!!
