Good move by the Knicks. Kanter a big plus for them.

It's going to fun to watch OKC and how the distribute the ball....going to need 3 balls I guess, lol.

westbrook has 3 balls.....how many triple doubles is he going to get this season???

You think Carmello is going to hold onto the ball with westbrook on the court?

westbrook is going to distribute 15 assists a game..

and they got rid of the turk who was not that good and was overpaid.

3 players that NEED the ball to be effective. That's going to be tough to sort out.

Good luck with that analysis, lol.

And no the Knicks got rid of the overated, overpaid 33 year old guy who isn't that good anymore and got a younger better player.

PG is actually quite good playing off screens, a part of his game people don't recognize much, but coming off screens as a shooter, or to attack, he's really good at.

Donovan will have his work cut out for him. Staggering will obviously be critical, especially with that weaker offensive bench. Melo is capable of playing off ball, the problem is willingness.

Westbrook of course is who he is, he was his same half of the time out of control and wild shot taking player with Durant as he was last season and will continue to be. It helps OKC though. Kanter was not playable against way too many teams. His numbers look nice, but he's not a winning player, and that was the same in Utah. Carmelo has his faults, but he'll help you win a lot more than Kanter.

OKC if this work out might have overtaken Houston as the most likely WC team to face GS in the WCF, but regular season is going to matter. If they get 4th and can't get a top 3 record in the West, it won't matter if they theoretically could beat SAS or HOU, or match up better with GSW, they will face GSW in the 2nd round and will be out early if they can't beat them, which I wouldn't bet on them unless GS has a significant injury.

Kanter is not a good player. The hope for OKC is that now we're talking about Melo as a 3rd option, not a first option. Just like Draymond Green would likely look terrible in impact stats if he had to be a first option and take 16-18 FGA, and maybe have less energy on defense, etc, but is am amazing 3rd/4th option, it could happen that Melo in a different role, playing off others is much more productive than him masquerading as a first option.

Kanter just can't be left on the court against way too many teams. Useless vs GS, useless vs Houston, SA can abuse him too, but he's better there. He's too situational of a player, his defense is attrocious and he doesn't help you win. Lucky for NY, they don't care about winning as much now, it's about rebuilding, and Kanter is actually a good tank commander, but also makes less.

Kanter is exactly one of the players where most cumulative stats are going to tell the wrong picture about his actual on court impact and value, especially since most are poor at gauging defense. He's one of the big outliers. He can collect efficient individual stats, but his on court presence is bad.

Well, maybe in your eyes, but most all advanced stats say otherwise. And models that actually measure how much a player produces wins for a team (WP & WS48) say diffferently, they can't all be wrong.

BTW Agent, can you back that analysis up with some hard data as you usually provide. Wink

It's subjective but he's been a true pro and there's nothing that I can see that would be a valid reason for replacing him. I certainly hope that the decision had no political leaning. I have no problem giving Bowen a chance but it's sad that it came at Smith's expense.

If you make a new thread discussing the trade, then sure

Not sure why that is needed since we've had lengthy discussions in the past about other things then what the subject of the thread was. Think it would just be easier to just post the "data", but that's up to you.Smile

Anyway, maybe the mods can do that or you can if you like.

Westbrook averaged a triple double again!

Houston is going to regret that. Melo needs the ball in his hands, and he's not very good. It will just hurt The Beard and Capella and Chris Paul.

I agree.

He's also not an efficient player.
